Division Quasar has been deployed to Pairs IV with orders to exfiltrate an ONI field operative currently in possession of intel deemed vital to the human war effort. The operative, identified only by his codename Mars, has taken refuge in the basement of the Marat Technological Institute in the besieged city of Avon. The city has largely fallen to Covenant occupation and UNSC forces are currently involved in the mass evacuation of civilians.

OBJECTIVES

• Secure the VIP.

• (Optional) Clear the Marat Technological Institute of hostile forces.

So, fun fact. Sangheili ranks are given based on experience and kills. Meaning a minor may be incredibly experienced, but has yet to score a kill, while a Major may have thousands of kills, but very few chances to display leadership capabilities.

Another fun fact: Aristocrats in sangheili society are the only ones who may carry energy swords, and it is a right given almost from birth. Aristocracy has no measure in what rank a sangheili has.

Conclusion: The chance that any Elite, from a lowly minor upwards, has the possibility of wielding an energy sword.

Also note that none of the Elites have Needle Rifles. Save for a few exceptions most have Plasma Rifles.

APPEARANCE: Alfred is approximately 6’ tall, and weighs approximately 184 lbs. He has jet-black hair and has paler skin. His frame is rather lanky, despite this he retains much of his physical strength one would expect from a commando. A long, thick slash scar weaves its way from below his left eye, over the bridge of his nose, and below his right eye. This scar is from a rather unpleasant stay in one of New Amsterdam’s many penitentiaries.

• Poor Hand-to-Hand: Less emphasis during training, and a life of running rather than brawling has led Walthers into less-than-adept skill in hand-to-hand combat and knife fighting.
• Overconfident: A natural talent honed to the level of his is bound to make him a tad overconfident.
• Grim Outlook & Morbid Humor: A pessimistic and cynical view of life will make anyone hate you after a while, not to mention joking about a dead man.

PSYCH EVALUATION: Walthers is a black sheep of an army soldier. He has an indomitable cheery attitude despite the annoyance of his comrades because of it. He possesses a dark and morbid sense of humor, commonly joking about unfortunate marines and soldiers. This of course makes him unpopular. It is unknown whether this is just how he was from birth, or he was broken at some point during his numerous engagements with the Covenant.

BIOGRAPHY: Early life in New Amsterdam was harsh, especially for his family who were among the lowest class. His mother, Evelyn, died giving birth to his younger sister when he was six, leaving an emotional scar to deal with. It has been postulated that this is the source of his morbid and pessimistic outlook, and that it is veiled under the cheerful guise to protect his younger sister, Mila. During this time, his father, Frederic, became more and more emotionally detached from him and his young sister, to the point of absolute disregard and neglect.
As a result, their father ceased supporting them financially, leaving the two to fend for themselves in the streets of New Amsterdam. For several years, Alfred (though he now prefers “Alf” or “Alfie,”) performed petty crime in a bid to secure a life for himself and his sister, over the course of these endeavors he ended up in juvenile penitentiary several times. It was during one of these times that his younger sister was kidnapped and eventually murdered, the body was only partially recovered.

His father of course, did not offer sympathies, nor did he come to the unceremonious funeral. To escape the city of Fort Orange, indeed, Sevastopol System in general, Walthers, when he came of age, enlisted in the UNSC Army Corps, and was sent to bootcamp on Reach, where he was trained. He quickly made a name for himself as both a deadeye, a smartass, and thieving bastard. Wherever he seemed to go, trinkets and cigarettes seemed to mysteriously vanish. It is because of this reason that he was never assigned to receive anti-material rifle training, instead being relegated to becoming a designated marksman. Training was rough on the young man, but he got through it relatively easily, making it through via sheer perseverance and determination; perhaps fear of what was behind him motivated him so well.

Immediately after bootcamp on reach ended, he was assigned to the newly-formed 432nd Airborne, a battalion designed for rapid, airborne assaults using UH-144 Falcons and D77H-TCI Pelicans. Though the hastily raised battalion was incredibly effective at storming positions, casualties were extremely high, and after four years of non-stop action, few of the original soldiers and vehicles remained. One such soldier was Specialist Walthers, and he was then selected for the BLACK Initiative as a prospective recruit, later being assigned Quasar Division under Mjr. Ezekiel Kotze.
