キズナイーバー
KIZNAIVER

        すごもりし
ようこそ凄盛市へ | WELCOME TO SUGOMORI CITY

Welcome to Sugomori City, a futuristic Japanese city with a lot to offer! You can go to the beach, splash your cash in the many shops that litter the high street, ride rollercoasters, take the train, take the bus, take any form of public transport, go to a restaurant for dinner, take a picture of yourself in a photobooth that makes you look like an anime character, and just about anything else you can think of!

The city even has it's own mascot, Gomorin!

Image

But all is not as it seems. Unfortunately.

プロット | PLOT

This role-play takes place in the Kiznaiver universe, minus all the canon characters. I'm not telling you that in order to join you need to watch all 12 episodes of the anime because that'd be silly! If you need information, feel free to ask myself, the Kiznaiver Wiki or Wikipedia.

Our story begins with seven students, classmates in Sugomori High School (凄盛高校) Class 2-A, a high school located in the futuristic Sugomori City, built over reclaimed land of a rather seedy nature.

Our seven heroes get entangled in a cruel experiment where they must complete several tasks, how is this cruel you may ask?

They have been sucked into the "Kiznaiver Project", an experiment in which our heroes have been bonded together via the "Kizna System", if one Kiznaiver is injured, the pain is not only felt by them but also distributed evenly amongst the other Kiznaivers. The ultimate goal of this project is to bond everybody in the world so that dictators may feel the pain they inflict on their people and so war can stop resulting in an era of peace.

もうしこみしょ
申込書 | APPLICATION FORMS
There is a limited amount of slots for Kiznaivers (7 to be exact), but don't worry because that's only the initial amount.
Either way, Kiznaivers aren't the all-important characters. Normal humans probably have it better anyways.

ルールズ | RULES

  • Don't godmod, this is a basic roleplay rule.
  • Don't metagame either.
  • Mah word is LAW.
  • If you get into a dispute with another player, myself or a Co-OP will deal with it accordingly.
  • At the start we will be using the eastern way of family name before given name, eventually we might just use given name.
  • Kiznaivers aren't the most important characters you know.
  • If you have an application but it isn't complete, you may post it but please put W.I.P next to your character's name. When it is complete, post said complete version.
  • Have fun.

Fujioka Kazuo

Image

Gender: Male
Age: 16
Nationality: Japanese

Personality: Kazuo is an indifferent, oblivious individual with a severe case of emotional dilution.
Brief Biography: Kazuo was born to the businessman Fujioka Kenta and the renowned surgeon Honda Natsumi, his life was relatively normal until the age of four to which he doesn't remember anything between when he was four and five. All he knows from that time period is that since then, he's had a pain tolerance so high that he doesn't even feel it. He also has a twin brother named Fujioka Katsuo, although he was sent off to a private school in another part of the country. Now 16, Kazuo is a 2nd year attending Sugomori High School in Class 2-A. His father is always on business trips, he hasn't returned home for two years now. The same can be said for his mother, only she's busy saving lives in Tokyo.

Kanzaki Yūjirō | 神崎 優次郎

Image

Gender: Male
Age: 17
Nationality: Japanese

Personality: INFP-T | Neutral Good | Shy, Pensive, Reflective, Reserved
Brief Biography: Kanzaki Yūjirō was born in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, the younger of two sons; his father, Senzaemon, ran a fish-and-chips shop, and his mother, Yoshiko, was a geisha (though she was still a maiko from the time he was born till he entered kindergarten); he grew up in a humble but nonetheless comfortable setting, being neither opulent nor poverty-stricken.

When he was 5, his elder brother, Kanzaki Seiichirō, buckled under the pressure of academics and threw himself into a river; in his first midyear exam of middle school, Seiichirō had failed every subject except literature (which he borderline passed) despite studying till his nerves cracked under the pressure of sleeping 3 hours a night and drinking hundreds of cans of black coffee and Red Bull a week. Distraught, the entire family moved first to Minamiuonuma City (where Senzaemon Kanzaki's half brother, Kotarō, ran a ryokan), and then to Gero, an idyllic onsen town in Gifu Prefecture.

There, Yūjirō attended elementary school, and then middle school; he knew little of the incident that had driven his brother off the edge, and as a result, did not share anything with any of his schoolmates.

Unlike Seiichirō, Yūjirō did reasonably well in school, though he was just as bad at maths as his brother had been; despite his dismal results in that subject, Yūjirō had aced everything humanities-related, be it social studies, Japanese and English language, or literature, and as a result, was recommended to study in one of the big cities (higher chance of getting into one of the Big Seven universities, his homeroom teacher had advised him).

Though still shaken by Seiichirō's unfortunate demise, both parents were more than happy to move back to a city (specifically Sugomori, a futuristic city built over a landfill) to allow their one remaining son to continue with his education. Neither had been particularly picky about him becoming a doctor or a lawyer, anyway.

Likes:
- Reading (Yūjirō reads voraciously, both in Japanese and in English. His favourite books are Ryūnosuke Akutagawa's Autumn Mountain (秋山), C. S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Luo Guanzhong's Romance of the Three Kingdoms (三國演義).)
- Unwinding in the countryside (being raised mostly in the small, sleepy city of Gero, Yūjirō is rather unacquainted with the hustle and bustle of ruthless city life, and would much prefer to enjoy himself in a quiet park than to go to a cinema or a mall.)
- German classical music (リヒャルト・ワーグナーが音楽世界の大神様だ。)
- Birds
- Coffee (particularly Suntory Boss Rainbow Mountain Blend™)

Dislikes:
- Physical activity (though he took judo lessons in his elementary school and middle school days, Yūjirō is not one who enjoys or is good at getting up and about, preferring to bury his head in the books all day. His hand-eye coordination is atrocious to the point that he cannot dribble a basketball. The most he ever does is cycling 4km back and from school.)
- Soda
- Mathematics (logarithms are the Devil incarnate)
- Mando-Pop, J-Pop, and K-Pop
- Pop in general (except Weird Al Yankovic)

Isono Koichi | 磯野 袴壱

Image

Gender: Male
Age: 18
Nationality: Japanese

Personality: ENTP-A | True Neutral | Outgoing, Amiable, Arrogant, Strong-willed
Brief Biography: Isono Koichi was born in a massive bungalow located in Tokyo's Shinjuku district; both his parents were filthy rich, and his father, a bulldog-countenanced middle aged man named Isono Gunpei (磯野 軍平, Isono Gunpei), was widely known among the investments world as the King of Desserts, due to owning ridiculous numbers of shares in various snack and dessert companies like Lotte.

(Koichi inherited this love of desserts; he has a strong fondness for bingsu (a Korean shaved ice dessert).)

From young, Koichi, an only child, was brought up with several silver spoons inserted into just about every orifice in his body; he and his father would drive about in their gleaming BMW, and from kindergarten, the boy was already enrolled in private tuition.

Despite all this, Koichi never performed particularly well in school. Though he tried his best to please his parents and do well and go to Tokyo University and all the things a typical Asian student was expected to do, Koichi had a secret passion; he wanted to become a pianist.

Deeming musical performance and other such artsy endeavours to be a waste of time, Gunpei Isono had refused to sign up Koichi for piano lessons; nonetheless, with the help of a flabby horse of a nerd named Saburō Uei, Koichi was able to teach himself how to play using an app and the scores of The Magnificent Seven (his favourite Western movie, because Yul Brynner was the greatest badass of the genre). Koichi knew he had to maintain his grades, which he struggled to do, with terrifying consequences; his father, upon learning his son had gotten a C in one of his papers in the midyears, had punched his BMW's window so hard that it cracked.

His desire to become a pianist continued, nonetheless, and Koichi continued to teach himself new pieces with the dinky school piano, while simultaneously flattering his father with barely noticeably less atrocious results (by Gunpei Isono's ridiculous standards, at least).

This, he kept a secret from his father, and when the time to apply for high school entrance exams came, Koichi surreptitiously applied for the entrance exam of one Sugomori High School; they had a piano elective programme, and if he got in, Koichi knew, he'd get three years in a dormitory. That was three years away from his arse-hat of a father and his indifferent, also filthy rich mother.

Isono Koichi was admitted into Sugomori High School.

By the time Isono Gunpei found out, he was powerless.

Likes:
- Piano
- Bingsu
- Goldfish
- Chinese martial arts movies (Sammo Hung is the best)
- Cowboy movies

Dislikes:
- Isono Gunpei (Koichi Isono is relishing his final year of being away from his rich haemorrhoid of a father, and though he realises the bitter perverseness of his biting the hand that had fed him with the silver spoon, Koichi justifies it through his passion for music. Besides, Gunpei has a reputation to uphold; he has no choice but to continue sponsoring Koichi for university.)
- Isono Aimi (Useless old hag. All she knows how to do is earn money.)
- Idiots
- The countryside (nothing like slow WiFi to get you bored. Besides, in the countryside, there's nobody around to listen to your music, is there?)

Hattori Yoshitoki

Image

Gender: Male
Age: 17
Nationality: Japanese

Personality: He's typical, bland, and doesn't have much of a unique personality, but that could probably be a good thing, he's not horribly outgoing or trendy, and wouldn't do good as a socialite, but is also not brave enough to become a tough guy and is a bit introverted, I do not need to say too much more because I'd rather his personality play out the way I like in IC, but I'll describe a bit more if needed. Hattori is interested in electronics, biking and music. He also is clumsy and not into either math or P.E, which are usual 'opposites' of each other, but will like pretty much everything else averagely, or a lot, but is horrible at learning foreign languages, though he knows a little English, growing up while learning Japanese, obviously.
Brief Biography: Hattori was born in a small town, which was named Shōwa, that is located in the Gunma Prefecture. He lived there for fourteen years, his father was a manager for a news broadcasting company reporting across Gunma and nearby regions, while his mother was unemployed until Hattori turned nine, then becoming a part-time clerk at a local grocery store, mainly working night shifts. Hattori got his hand at a lot of technology, like computers and video game systems because of his father's occupation which made a handy bunch of yen, though they were far from what you could call rich. His father was working most of the time, but did take Hattori out on late night road trips a lot when his mother was busy, and he had to go somewhere for work. Sometime when he was fourteen he moved to Maebashi, much to his disapproval, life didn't change much, other than he was in a city, and not a small town, but it wasn't too different, a different school, and new friends [?] was the biggest thing the kid had to get used to, and in just three years he made another move. Sugomori City was the destination, that was a big difference, and taking the long ride there, the first time Hattori took a plane, didn't end with anything other than vomit on the ground and particles of it floating around in the cloudy, beautiful blue sky, that didn't do much to ease Hattori's displeasure. Now..he just arrived in the city, it was only three days ago, he barely even knows his way around his own apartment complex and street, let alone even a single mile of the massive city. And today's just his first day into school.. His mother is now unemployed again and his father works as a reporter in the city.
He likes/is good at using, biking, gaming, electronics, machinery, geography and anime/manga [Mostly for one reason..] and North American culture [He also knows English]

One more thing: How shall we standardise the placing of names and surnames?

I'm used to following the Western order (I always write my own name in the western order when I write in English), but if we want to put surname before name (as in Hattori Yoshitoki), that's fine with me too.

I don't mind either, maybe it'd be best to do it the eastern way since I'd like to do it from the perspective of somebody reading Japanese subtitles (maybe even adding honorifics when appropriate). I think as we go along our characters (if they become friends at least) would start to refer to each other by their given names rather than family.

In all honesty I'm not even sure if my character's name is a viable japanese name.

I have a feeling Kazuo is the given name though.

EDIT: It's also good that you're here, because then we can all learn something about Japanese culture.

It's very much realistic. Kazuo is the given name, and Fujioka is the surname; both are common, and have variations. For example:

藤岡 和夫 Fujioka Kazuo ("Fujioka the Japanese Gentleman / Peaceful Gentleman / Peaceful Husband)
藤岡 一男 Fujioka Kazuo ("Fujioka the Frontmost Man)
藤岡 知生 Fujioka Kazuo ("Fujioka, a Life of Knowledge")

It's very much realistic. Kazuo is the given name, and Fujioka is the surname; both are common, and have variations. For example:

藤岡 和夫 Fujioka Kazuo ("Fujioka the Japanese Gentleman / Peaceful Gentleman / Peaceful Husband)
藤岡 一男 Fujioka Kazuo ("Fujioka the Frontmost Man)
藤岡 知生 Fujioka Kazuo ("Fujioka, a Life of Knowledge")

To list just a few possible combinations for "Kazuo".

for once googling and swapping family names and given names works :p

EDIT: It's also good that you're here, because then we can all learn something about Japanese culture.

Haha, I may be half Japanese ethnically, but I was born and raised in Singapore, so my affinity with Japanese culture is just average at best. :/

meanwhile i'm just a british weeb who barely knows how to speak the language let alone write it

Oh well, at least if I'm having trouble with the honorifics (if we actually decide to use them) then I have someone to turn to.

Lol :lol2:

I say we keep honorific use to when addressing elders. TMK most kids these days don't ever use honourifics when speaking to each other. We East Asian millennials are like bananas; our skin may be yellow, but inside, we're almost completely white.

PS: I dream of studying English Literature at Cambridge. I'm a teaboo, if you will. :3

That word actually exists in the urban dictionary.

Alright, seems fair enough.

It's a general issue. P2TM really seems to be quiet these days
I'm a Romanian, a vampire, an anime enthusiast and a roleplayer.
