Just his- you never know when someone else may desire to play a bear like character of such caliber. Though in private I would like to hear this history of the race from you via TG.

Shadowwell wrote:Companio: Arkton
Appearance: this
Sex: Male
Personality: Aggressive, lackadaisical, loyal

Abilities: Super strength, Super durability, Rage, regeneration through rest and eating, Claw Rend

Additional Details: He is one of the oldest Companios in existence, one of the first created, so many years ago. He was created, like most others of his kind to do most of the heavy work, to be the muscle so to speak. They cleared roads and trees adn helped the other Companios in their efforts. He helped them, but he became weary after so many years of work, when it ended he carved out a cave and rested. Time passed until he encountered another of his kind and settled, but as he aged, his mate died and his family moved elsewhere, so once more he rested. His rest and carefree life was unfortunately not to last, it would be interupted by the Original Numans, those who would become the Horde. It was on one of his outings that he encountered them, the Numans.

He fought against them, and he won, but at a cost, he was gravely injured, but was not able to heal for some time, until he could create another Cave. He found a small natural cave and rested, healing his wounds, he expanded the cave to make it better. For a while after he awoke he would wander and create other caves, some he would use others would be used by other Companio. He would occassionally encounter Numans of the Horde again, but would always escape, or not be seen, a surprising thing given his size. The next while would pass the same way the previous years had, with him resting, eating and wandering, as well as fighting when he must. One time when he awoke he encountered strange beings, who were akin to Companio, but more like the Numan in a sense.

He followed them when he saw them, he was curious, as they were similar in so many ways, yet different a well. His curiosity had a cost however, he fell into a trap, an ambush set by the Horde, but he escaped, but was greatly injured. It was then that he met her, the one who would become his companion and who he would become the companion of. In time they parted, and he went back to his old routine, sleeping and only waking on rare occasions, apart from the necessities. Then one day he just slept, he slept deep, not waking for a long time, until recently.

I actually feel dampened by this. It sets such as a somber depressant tone- one part could use elaboration, that being the fist encounter with the Horde. Was he like so many others not seeing it coming? The companio after all where expecting Numans or had they already been active for a bit.

The innumanoid encounter too has me curious.

-snip- See below - I got a little carried in away in criticism- the character has been approved after I had my freak out and reflected. The below post details social conduct in the Companio setting.

Update

Postby Harbertia » Sat Apr 01, 2017 9:59 am

Social Conduct
In the world of Companio there are a few rules that are understood but never spoken- barriers that if passed often result in lose or difficulty of the 'social stigma' type.
  • Numans never fight Companio in hand to hand combat. The two species are bonded in such a way that these types of engagements are mentally scaring to both and generally avoided. The only exception to this bonding where the original 200 Numans who lacked the genetic bonding- these 200 became the horde and their decedents continue to carry a lack of empathy towards these creatures known as Companio.
  • Numans who fight a Companio hand to hand rather then allow their Companio guardian to fight them are as barbaric as the Innumanoids and likely abuse the Companio around them. They are bad people and would be better off in the Horde.
  • Innumanoids fight Companio hand to hand thus they are less civilized then Numans. If a Numan need capture a Companio (such as the Horde does) they'll use traps to do so- traps define intellectual superiority over the beasts.
  • Physical combat implies barbarity.
  • Companio have an innate joy in making Numans happy but such instincts are destroyed by abuse- which is why the Companio of the Horde are at large glum bitter and depressive.
  • Innumanoids breed with Innumanoids, Numans breed with Numans, and Companio breed with any other kind of Companio they please because Companio are subnuman and any one who 'breeds down' (Numan with an Innumanoid) is too animal to be considered Numan themselves.
  • Due to this Innumanoids who do have a Companio ally are looked on with suspicion in most cases and rumored to be 'breeding down' though this is often a false rumor when it arises and generally seen as an Innuman stereotype which it's self emerged from actual examples in the past.

I was reluctant to post these as I felt they made the setting sound mean spirited. Is it or is it just a different society with rules of conduct that we as role players must understand in order to portray that society? I think it's the latter of those two; a society that roleplayers need to understand in order to portray.

I was worried that the bio would be too dark. It is ack luster because i don't know if the Early companio had their own villages ro the like or what not. What do you want me to add to the bio concerning the first enconter with the Horde?

Dang- now I know I should have kept the two paragraphs of criticism in my most instead of sniping them out of the post. You are correct in the app being lack luster and dark. Having omitted my run on criticism of the application and opting for a simple post I certainly robed both of us. I'm one of those guys who 'deletes a post' and then forgets what it said.

I shall respond to your questions here in hopes of being of assistance. The application is darker then I would like. In my now deleted posts I remember stating that ... now I forgot. dang... I can't remember so I'm going to try to come up with something. Oh Now I remember. I stated that I should have expected such based on the style of the character's image which goes outside the bounds of recommended images. I did however state in those paragraphs that are no more that I was unable to find any good replacements but I did- I simply didn't want to provide them as I know that finding an image for a character is a good way to make them solid- to say- this is my character. I don't want to take that from you.

Companio where building structures for Numans to inhabit and dwelling in those areas. They do have communities, some in the wild lands they have cultivated and others in the settlements. The areas where more starting grounds of healing stations, dwellings, and so forth. Some companio dwelled in those placed during construction others created their own little villages for their kind; communities that still stand today.

Companio where expecting Numans- the first 200 simply (not initially of course) turned on them at some point. I'm curious as to weather your character had his encounter before the sudden change was well known or if it came after word of what the Numans where doing began to spread.

We know that the Professor began to bond Numans to Companio in response to what the original 200 did in hopes of avoiding another such disaster which lead to a great disruption in the intended relationship- with Companio like your own decided to live apart and loosing motivation to serve.

So your character learning to trust again latter on is a happy inclusion.

Almost tempted to make a second character for no reason but death...

EDIT:

You know maybe the Horde should have a banner/insignia, I was already thinking of its members or livestock being branded with a tattoo:

hahahaha now that's funny XD hahah

I'll be cutting grass tomorrow so I may not be as attentive to this thread the 2nd of April of this year Eastern Standard Time- it'll depend on how tired I am following the task or if I have time in the morning before cutting (as would be the case if the grass is too damp with dew to cut).

@Jariri: I shall give thought to the insignia as such is fitting of the Horde.

Name: Rory
Age: 13
Sex: Male
Type: Numan
Territory: The Alliance
Appearance:
Rory is a boy of average height and lean build. He has a fair skin complexion, golden eyes, and long hair of the same color worn in a thin braid. His entire body except for his head is covered in a black suit, with strings and bells that are most likely ornamental. Underneath the polyester are "claws" which significantly enhance Rory's grip. On the outermost layer are articles of clothing purchased from various shops.

Personality:
Often lax and detached from the rest of the world, Rory is a carefree boy who spends most of his time exploring, but doesn't mind work. He detests authority however, and so avoids it as best he can by following a primarilyy nomadic lifestyle with his Companio, Terbius. He's not often seen in towns and cities, but when he is, he's usually purchasing supplies, taking jobs, or causing trouble for the locals with his shenanigans. Although helpful, a few places have identified him as a nuisance and have thus taken measures to keep him and his cumbersome companion off the premises. To people outside of established towns and cities, Rory is very helpful and generous. He doesn't expect payment for helping others, though he'll sometimes ask for food, lashing, or tinder. And although he doesn't really want to give anyone grief, he's just naturally playful and would like to be independent, but in a humble and respectful manner.

With Terbius, Rory is very caring and gentle. He believes that respect goes both ways in a relationship between Numan and Companio. As a result, he and Terbius work exceptionally in combat, where Rory fights competitively, but just enough so that he doesn't cripple his opponent.

Additional Details:
Rory is probably Irish or Scottish judging by his accent.

Companio: Terbius
Appearance:
Standing up to seven feet tall and weighing in at fourty-two tonnes, Terbius, Companio of Rory, is a marvelous, graceful, very large creature. He is composed primarily out of various rocks, minerals, and metals, making him extremely durable. Curiously though, he remains incredibly fast and agile.
Sex: Likely male.
Personality:
Terbius may appear stone cold, but inside, is very warm, caring, and playful. His taciturn nature is attributed to the fact that his mouth is completely inanimate. He can't speak, instead growling, grunting, or huffing all of the time. Somehow though, Rory understands every single sound he makes. Like his friend, Terbius is quite friendly and fond of silence and nature. He enjoys wandering with Rory and sitting down by riversides, in grassy clearings, and on hilltops. Whenever they encounter people who are in need of assistance, they help out as best they can and make a lot of friends in doing so. With opponents, Terbius usually takes a defensive stance unless told otherwise. He tries not to hurt his opponent too much since Rory doesn't like it, but at times can't sufficiently control his strength, momentum, and speed.
Abilities:
Terbius can manipulate rocks and metals to defend or attack. He can dig quickly, phase in and out of rocks, is an excellent fighter, and has a good taste in furniture. He also has the innate ability to attract birds. They usually come and sit on him whenever he's not moving.

Approved, I can already think of a situation concerning Rory ahahah and his attire, and independence- it's like he was raised by Innumanoids or something XD and would likley be mistaken for one! Terbius will be interesting- he's not what I expected to see with Rory so his presence will likely surprise a lot of folks :)

Been a bit busy lately so I'll just post the WIP app. I have some notes elsewhere, though I'll add them to the additional details section when I put them together/expand on them to become fully fleshed out.

Name: Saelynn
Age: 15
Sex: Male, surprisingly.
Type: Innumanoid

Personality: WIP. Outwardly, he usually appears somewhat mischievous if a bit shy, though generally fairly kind and cheerful. In truth, however, his mind is somewhat damaged. Behind this façade is an insecure, fragmented and sometimes contradictory psyche, hiding a desire to be acknowledged and loved by others behind a shell. As such, he may be easy to emotionally manipulate, though the exact consequences of such manipulation could be unforeseen, due to his instability. He also has an alternate personality, that is mostly emotionless, and detached, yet oddly accepting of everything that happens to him, good or bad (though this too is a coping mechanism), and may not reflect the full depth of the processes at work within his mind. Although not truly sadistic, one element of him can be a bit ruthless and utilitarian in achieving his aims, just as another part of him can be to a greater extent masochistic, regretful of his actions and desirous of a figure that punishes him for whatever reason can be found. His damaged psyche can create, alter and erase memories in a manner that sometimes seems arbitrary (though usually for important reasons, at least to him), yet at other times seems to be a way of coping with traumatic events. He also has a fear of being touched, to some extent, though especially when other people get too forceful.

Physical Abilities: Enhanced Agility/Speed, Senses (especially sight) and Regeneration (speed of healing depends on severity, and it can be slowed down by repeated injuries and things stuck in wounds).

Additional Details: TBA. Since the Horde aren't very nice (to put it lightly), they seem like the sort of people to be behind events that would lead to Saelynn's mental instability.
Formerly Videssos. Just a femboy-obsessed degenerate. Also interested in history, mythology, fantasy, science fiction, metal and some other stuff.
A little bird told me, "Go, Go! Socialise! Talk to those fine people! And then, KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM! Plunge your knife into their throats when they ain't lookin', and then burn 'em to the ground!"
Well that's silly, isn't it?

The grass has been cut- and having showered my energy is renewed. This thread and the Journey thread now have my full attention. First- to respond to TGs.

Such is indeed very likely. Also an inventive name; sāˌlēn.

A cicadid like creatures is indeed as lovely as it is terrifying. Though the one presented in such an image would be an Innumanoid. I don't suggest going with this unless it's something the Horde utilizes.
