"Blink" - The user shifts out of the visual spectrum, rendering them invisible to the naked eye as well as heat based imaging systems. The user can not move while the spell is cast, how ever. It can be cast in combat, but for utterly short periods of time, 3 seconds at the most.

"Aura Sight" - The user alters their vision to view the aura of living beings in their line of sight. Does not work with non living things and unable to see through "Blink" and similar spells, cannot see living things through solid objects.

"Shadow's Bloom" - The user creates a thick mist of pure black magic, similar to non magical smoke bombs with the added effect of acting as a form of non lethal irritant. Does not conceal the user from "Aura Sight" or heat based imaging systems. The user is immune to the side effects, but prolong exposure can lead to permanent scarring of the lungs and eyes.

Biography:If you were to ask an Imperial official as to who “Togaru Yoshida” is, he would frown and spout off some tale of him being some crack pot foreigner who murders people for coin. Ask some one of the seeder part of the empire, and they would tell you he is a high-class assassin and spy for hire and one of the best in the trade. Ask an imperial religious official and they would tell you he is a heretic and black mage who dabbles in the forbidden arts of Shadow magic and should be burned at the stake.

Ask the man himself, provided he’s not currently trying to kill you, and you manage to find him, and he will simply tell you he is from a far-off land to the east of the Empire, and island nation of warriors and dragons. He will tell you how he was born a servant and rose through the ranks as he grew older, eventually becoming a simple warrior and then a magician and in the process, through making a shady deal with a not so well liked demon, gained the power to manipulate darkness itself. This would cause his people to ostracize him, dishonoring him and banishing him to the mainland.
He has since become an assassin since landing in the empire at 19, and has made a name for himself as an efficient and ruthless killer, having never failed a job yet. Due to his notoriety, he has hidden himself in the forests around Alnus hill


Personality: Togaru is a quit person. That’s all one would need to know…More? -sighs- alright, fine. Togaru Yoshida is a calm, quite, and an observant man, and a hell of a swordsmen. More? TO most, he would come off as a sarcastic, almost arsehole-ish type of man who generally doesn’t care as to who he offends. THis can be off putting at first, but this not truly who he is. While not in battle, he usually can be seen in the corner of the room, soaking in the atmosphere and trying to be as invisible as can be. In battle, he can be described as a cunning, almost ruthless fighter who rarely shows mercy to his foes. He is capable of compassion, he can even be…nice, on occasion. Underneath the martial artist is a man scarred from battle, who can be kind when the mood strikes him, but for the most part that softer Togaru stays hidden.

We've got a fair bit of freedom to define the canon as we wish. Probably fairly safe to use the Roman military as a source like you did. I would say military age would be considered around 16 up, with the average age being around 20. However, given manpower shortages younger ages would certainly be recruited as well (Here's the source that I based that on, but like I said, we've got some nice leeway to ourselves and the world is as much for you guys to make than me ).

German Captian coming into tomorrow likely. I've seen there's at least one other German, and a Russian, so this should be interesting

Biography: Borealis Norsoutha was born to the aristocratic Norsoutha and Tomoshima family (rulers of the Atlasian Duchy and the Tomoshima Shogunate) in Atlas, the capital of what would become the Alnorian Principality. At the age of 12, Borealis Norsoutha joined the army to help protect the island nation. As relations between Alnoria and the Empire soured, the Norsoutha and Tomoshima families quickly unified the free cities, kingdoms, duchies, clans, shogunates, daimyos and principalities. Borealis, at the age of 17, would later use the island's name, Alnoria, as the name for the nation itself, resulting in the creation of the Alnorian Principality.

As the first Prince of Alnoria, he reformed the armies and armadas to make them more trained and equipped against the Empire; the strong Alnorian Navy is what caused Alnoria's securing of the South Falmart Sea and the Alnoria Sea from the Empire, which is unable to invade Alnoria. Borealis sent spies to gather information and intelligence regarding Imperial movements. Upon hearing that a Gate has opened up, he had the clergy, led by High Priestess Matilda Simmons, take charge while he goes to the mainland.

Personality: Borealis Norsoutha has a friendly but serious personality, making friends with anyone while being serious about everything. He despised racial discriminations, saying that it leads to genocides, slavery and others. Despite his friendly and serious personality, he tends to fall asleep and forget something, which is a normal and rare occurrence in Alnoria.

Alnorian Principality
The Alnorian Principality is an island nation built on the code of honor, a direct result of the knightly traditions and the bushido code. Alnoria was known for its mercy, compassion, justice, forgiveness, and pardon to those who were guilty, remorseful, and regretful of their actions. Alnoria also accepts members of any races/species, alongside those defecting to Alnoria, who are facing genocide and slavery from the Saderan Empire, also known as the Falmartian Empire.

Alnoria has a strong military based on the concepts of quality over quantity, the usage of magics and spells, and the concepts of combined arms (infantry, cavalry, and siege weapons were used together); the Alnorian armies also had guns (flintlock muskets) but its real strength lies in the Alnorian Navy, which is in charge of dominance of the South Falmart Sea. Alnorians are composed of High Elves, Humans, Gnomes and Dwarves. Alnoria had an Elven Ranger Corps, led by Ranger General Jennalla Deemspring.

Prior to the Alnorian Principality's rise, the nations were in feud with each other and its society militaristic, spiritualistic, isolated and xenophobic, fighting each other to gain land only to achieve nothing. However, after relations soured, Alnorian society threw away their fears and stood united against a common foe. However, it still held on to its spiritual and militaristic beliefs and values. Contrary to popular belief, the leader's title is actually a Crown Prince (or just Prince).

Alnoria was de jure a feudal government answering to the Prince, but was, in actuality, de facto a military dictatorship. When the Prince is away, the Alnorian clergy implements laws and policies in Alnoria and took care of the island nation and its government and people. High Priestess Matilda Simmons is the current head of the clergy and the acting head of state when Borealis left for the mainland.

I'm inclined to allow it, but that would also mean that the Empire has limited access to ye olde (late medieval at best) guns as well. Any thoughts from anyone either for or against it?

Well, seeing as its at a complete disadvantage and if memory serves even class II plates will laugh at the musket ball, I say the only limitation being he's horrible with it.

Well, that's an interesting stick to throw in the mud. The technological advancment, along with the decent knowledge of magic [and the only sudden arrival of UN forces] would make it seem like anything such as that would be the least of their concerns. It also means by that knowledge[on flintlocks] it would be around the 17th century, not to mention it would have to be fairly common and "industralized" to allow just anyone to possess one. Even if he is royality, for a smaller nation to posses such a weapon would largely mean the empire would have an even larger access to the weapons by now

But that's just my opinion. And as the others said, a bow or similar weapon would serve you better

Agreed. I think there'd be no question that whatever guns the natives had (even if they went up to renaissance/18th century), the UN would still possess overwhelming firepower. My larger concern is that any firearms that exist in the Special Region would have to be able to coexist alongside legions and medieval knights in armour, so they can't be especially good else every major state would have entirely adopted them.
