I forsee two ways that the email leak can play out

1) The bad for America way
The Democrats start gaining in the polls rapidly using China as a punching bag, and double down on a stance of supporting human rights. That is great for the Democrats, but terrible for America, because if the Democrats actually start gaining in the polls, the Sino-American relationship will start to deteriorate significantly. Perhaps the Chinese would even go so far as to interfere in the election to ensure the Democrats lose(Interesting post-election scandal)?

2) The bad for Democrats way
The Democrats take fire for this being a reckless action, and just dissipate nationally. The ties between China and the USA stay cordial for the time being.

Right now it seems that is leaning neither direction
