Yes you own the Gibraltar and Ceuta ports, but you were snubbed by the English in control from the Atlantic to the Med.

Why would you do such a thing?

The English tend to snub their rivals throughout history. They want naval supremacy, and see that their rivals got the straight of Gibraltar, controlling trade throughout the ENTIRE med. So they found the opportunity to gain the upper hand.

This wasn't me trying to be unfair to you, this is me trying to see what the English would most likely do to keep their naval power over France in check.

No, because Maya does not own California at all. In fact the Japanese own part of Mexico below California in our own timeline.

If you do an earthquake, just reminding you that most of Japanese infrastructure was pretty earthquake resistant in main Japan due to... well, earthquakes and tsunamis all the time.

Eh, I will throw it in, if I can't think of anything. If I made a strong enough earthquake, then the Maya could be effected.

Well, yeah, they're kinda bastards. (Despite me knowing a British family who I love dearly) but that would take them a while to do, and too much naval power to do it that distance, and if a sudden naval conflict were to brew, I'm in home field. Not to mention Scotland literally at their back door.

That would require an Earthquake of magnitudes far beyond what California usually gets, even as a mega earthquake.

A 9.0 earthquake has never been seen or felt in California (The largest recorded one being a 7.9) and it would not set off a tsunami due to the fault lines being on line, not in the coastal regions.

In fact, a 9.0 wouldn't even reach Mexico. I'm not even sure if a 10.0 would. And that has never happened to our knowledge and understanding in the entirety of the Western Seaboard.

The largest earthquake amount in my opinion would be up to 7.6, and the least if you want to cause damage is around a 5.0.

Yeah, I just looked up the fault. Well, you may or may not get an earthquake, depends on whether or not I can think of a better event.

Here's a list of bad and good events I can think about.

Bad:
Earthquake ranging from 5.0-7.6.
Giant wildfire (Southern California could easily receive one due to their drier nature)
Wouldn't say famine because California has a big enough water reserve to negate that from happening.
Flash floods (Those are always fun)
Mt Lassen/Mt Shasta/Mt St. Helens blowing up.

Good:
Good crop year.
Infrastructure increase such as roads.
Population boom.
Good fishing yield.
Etc.

I will hold off on the earthquake, until everyone is crowded together. Then, drop an 8.0, or something.

From what I'm seeing, the fault lines is clustered around Missouri/Arkansas/Tennessee/South Illinois. It depends how far north you push.

Yes, I do. You literally said you were staying in the west, so I was like "Okay, me and the Iroquois have the East" and laughing in Japanese is literally just laughing.

When I meant the West I meant the Americas as a whole. It is considered the 'Western world' due to the Europeans. I wouldn't push past that, I meant. Like into the Atlantic farther.

And the *Laughs in [certain language] is a meme.

So you want to control the entire Americas, and Asia? Fuck. Also, French ingenuity will save the day! Along with the inevitable collapse of our empires to form new American Governments! Though I can't really see the entire Americas being engulfed regardless. You're people will demand independence eventually.
