They landed there, and French Arms put to the test. Of the Army of 10,000 men come to fight, the 8,000 swordsmen did their work. Swordsmen did battle with the Garrison while Gulvineers and Archers bombarded the enemy.

You literally say they landed all at once from the sea at Gibraltar in your post. 10,000 at once.
