Mass Effect RP

Postby Dentali » Sun Mar 12, 2017 7:03 pm

Essentially this is an RP set in the Mass Effect Universe in a cycle either before or after the cycle in the games. Humans, Asari, Krogan etc do not exist yet or perhaps have gone extinct. The game takes place a few hundred years before the arrival of the Reapers and just after the formation of the Citadel Alliance and by extension the discovery of the Citadel.

I want to tell you a story about my dad, but it could be anyone’s dad.

Image

When I was young my father fought cancer and won, but he had to keep fighting his pre-existing condition.

Image

Years later when I was in college my father got laid off and lost his health insurance and we were unable to pay healthcare premiums, that’s when the cancer came back.

Image

I left college so I could come home and help take care of my father, Jason and I rushed our wedding so he could walk me down the aisle. He died unable to afford treatments that might have saved his life, and with a mountain of debt for our family to pay.

Image

Since my father passed, I have been committed to giving everyone quality healthcare so that people like my father have a fighting chance. Measures like supporting a cap on prescription drugs costs, giving people the option of Medicare and ensuring insurance companies cannot deny health insurance because of a pre-existing condition.

Image

It’s time we made healthcare affordable for everyone. I’m Jennifer Samara and I endorse my husband Jason for Senate.

Nathaniel Richardson TV Ad
All Iowa Markets
March 20th-27th, 2019
(A series of farmers dramatically narrate the ad over images of farmers)
Image
And on the 8th day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, "I need a caretaker." So God made a farmer.
Image
God said, "I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, milk cows, work all day in the fields, milk cows again, eat supper and then go to town and stay past midnight at a meeting of the school board." So God made a farmer.
Image
God had to have somebody willing to ride the ruts at double speed to get the hay in ahead of the rain clouds and yet stop in mid-field and race to help when he sees the first smoke from a neighbor's place. So God made a farmer.
Image
God said, "I need somebody strong enough to clear trees and heave bails, yet gentle enough to tame lambs and wean pigs and tend the pink-combed pullets, who will stop his mower for an hour to splint the broken leg of a meadow lark. It had to be somebody who'd plow deep and straight and not cut corners. Somebody to seed, weed, feed, breed and rake and disc and plow and plant and tie the fleece and strain the milk and replenish the self-feeder and finish a hard week's work with a five-mile drive to church.
Image
"Somebody who'd bale a family together with the soft strong bonds of sharing, who would laugh and then sigh, and then reply, with smiling eyes, when his son says he wants to spend his life 'doing what dad does.'" So God made a farmer.

Richardson: We can make one of the toughest jobs on earth a bit easier.

Image

Richardson: I want to send a message to Washington that it’s time to reform farm subsidies so it protects small family farms, that it’s time to reform environmental protections, it’s time to protect farmers from disasters and time to make trade deals that put Americans first. If you agree please visit Richardson2020.com and voice your support. I’m Nathaniel Richardson and I approve of this message.

STAR WARS: THE NEW JEDI ORDER

Image

The year is 142 ABY and Rey Skywalker is dead. Rey Skywalker the Jedi Grandmaster who restarted the Jedi Order after the final death of Darth Sidious, she led the Order for 107 years starting with her first student the former Stormtrooper Finn, now almost a thousand Jedi roam the galaxy once again fighting for peace and justice. But with Rey and Finn now both one with the force the future of the Jedi Order is in question, the Jedi gather for a conclave on Dantooine the home of the New Jedi Temple to elect their new Grandmaster who will no doubt define the direction of the order for many years to come.

Across the galaxy conflict continues, the Galactic Republic never reforming after the Battle of Exegol instead splitting off into dozens of Nation States, Imperial Warlords, Confederacies, Corporate Conglomerates and smaller Republics have divided up the galaxy, constantly shifting between peace and war and leaving many frontier worlds essentially lawless.

Elsewhere in the Galaxy the Sith have risen once again, a former Jedi crashing on the lost world of Ziost and falling to the darkside. Close to a hundred Sith have been trained in secret and have begun traveling across the Galaxy sowing the seeds of the new Sith Empire.

So where does that leave you? A Jedi, a Sith, somewhere in between? Or none of the above, one of the warlords, a smuggler, or a crime lord? The Galaxy is large, and in this new era anything is possible.

Hello and welcome to STAR WARS: NEW JEDI ORDER

I grew up on the New Jedi Order book series from the legends universe, following the adventures of Jacen and Jaina Solo, Kyle Katarn, Mara Jade, Cade Skywalker and dozens of other Jedi. My goal for this series is to give us a new starting point to play with in the Disney canon that keeps the spirit of the original expanded universe and the concept of the New Jedi Order. I want to make this series a big sandbox that we can create and explore together, a very open series where players can have storylines on different parts of the galaxy or on the same planet, exploring different themes, stories and allowing for a great deal of creativity.

As I said in the opening scrawl there is no empire or galactic republic spanning the galaxy instead its a bunch of nation states, none of which cover more than a few dozen planets kinda like the warring states period in Japan or China. Each can be given a unique flavor and I plan on allowing people to be creative and define different areas and planets as long as they do not contradict other lore or are overpowered. You want to be the leader of a theocratic monarchy based on Bespin? Go for it. An Imperial Warlord bent on conquering the Outer Rim? Why not?

You can also be a smuggler, senator, Jedi, Sith, etc. No real limits of who you can play. Do not make an overpowered character, be thoughtful and unique, as cool as Kyle Katarn is don’t just make a carbon copy of them. In terms of power levels NO ONE is as powerful in the force as Luke Skywalker was or as strong as Rey likely got in her old age (Legends level Grandmaster Luke when he fought Abeloth). Make sure to give your character strengths and weaknesses as well. I will be playing the new Sith Lord however.

Given the title and the inciting event of the RP I would like some people to play Jedi Masters who are seeking to be elected Grandmaster. Rey gave a great deal of leeway in terms of Jedi practices like marriage and access to certain force abilities, and made a point of remaining neutral in most galactic conflicts, instead focusing on humanitarian aid and preventing conflict, though some threats did warrant a more direct war footing where Jedi fought alongside armies. (Will be building this lore together) Most of the NationStates allow Jedi to travel through their territory but some are openly hostile to the Order. A new Jedi Grandmaster could change these practices.

I doubt it, considering it was posted in 2017. Too bad though, it sounded like a cool concept.

President Wolf in front of a factory Blue Ash, Ohio in February 2018

Image

Wolf: “And what I really want to do — and come here and give something very big back. And that’s tax cuts, I signed into law. Your paychecks are going way up. (Applause.) Your taxes are going way down. And right now, for the first time in a long time — and you’ve seen it — factories are coming back. Everything is coming back. They all want to be where the action is. America is once again open for business. Right? (Applause.)”
Richardson (Narrating): Our economy has made huge strides thanks to President Wolf and his Tax Cuts. But the works not done, and our first step is making those tax cuts permanent.

Image

As Governor I have passed $4.4 billion in tax cuts which has given North Carolina the fastest growing economy in the country. We went from a budget deficit to a surplus, and we have cut our unemployment in half. I’m running for President because I have gotten results, and I believe I am the best person to continue the incredible legacy of President Wolf.

If we want to keep moving the country Forward, to heights greater than ever before, I hope you join me at Richardson2020.com. I’m Nate Richardson, and I approve this message. God Bless.

Porter: “ We have infiltrators in our homes, in our streets, roaming free to rape, to pillage and to murder… We need, more than ever, a strong government to hold our nation together in these testing times, in these dangerous eras of the future… we're going to bomb anyone else who dares to stand against this grand nation. We will bury them, and send them home to their cities in blood-soaked caskets. ”

(Footage of Westra in church)

Westra: "There is a passage in the Gospel of John where Jesus states that he wishes that we 'might have life and have it abundantly.' In other words, he hopes for us to live full and meaningful lives. Would the Lord subject any of us to live through the indignity of bearing a rapist's baby, or struggling through economic insecurity because of lack of access to contraception?"

Israel IS an apartheid state! If elected, I would suspend all aid to Israel until they can show full commitments to human rights and just treatment of the Palestinians.

Richardson: “The partisanship, disrespect, and lack of decency in politics today is coming from both sides of the aisle. You can’t blame any one person for it, at some point we just stopped expecting more from our leaders. I want a President who doesn’t talk down to others, that I can be proud of, that our children can look up to.”

“I’m Nate Richardson, Governor of North Carolina. As Governor my state got things done, we actually worked and got things done. A pain capable abortion ban, $4 billion in tax relief, a complete healthcare overhaul, and so much more. We got it done by respecting one another, working across the aisle, and coming together for a common cause of serving our state.”

Image

“These are values my mother and late father instilled in me from the time I was young. Faith, Family and Country, the importance of service, and the importance of living a virtuous life. I’m running for President because I believe it’s where I can best serve, making Washington work a little more like it works in North Carolina”

Nathaniel Richardson
St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota
May 5th, 2019

Image

Richardson was disappointed by the most recent polls, and had committed to campaigning in Texas for Brookshire in a big gamble for his campaign. What he needed wasn’t a campaign reset, as his campaign was going very well, what he needed instead was a bit of a shot in the arm, an unveiling of his new policy which he hoped would bridge the gap between traditional conservatives and the populists.

For this he needed an industrial location to make the speech. Unfortunately the first 4 states in the primary we’re ideal for this so instead he went to Minnesota. It was a super tuesday state, one that was decided by an incredibly small margin in 2016 and that had a large industrial base.

He attended church in the morning doing his typical retail politicking in the pews and enjoyed lunch with a number of important politicians and influencers in the state. He also took his time touring the factory and meeting workers, but a significant portion of his day was spent practicing the speech he would give to over a thousand people.

Ascending to the stage, Richardson greeted the crowd warmly and started his speech.

“When I was in high school and first tried to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, my father gave me some advice that always stuck with me”

“‘To be truly fulfilled in life, you should identify a righteous task, and then pursue it.’”

“Since his passing I have been thinking more and more about how I could apply those words to policy, how we could direct the nation to a righteous task. At the same time I have been increasingly concerned about our nation's failing manufacturing sector. Not only is the sector connected to millions of lives in our country but our nation's increasing reliance on overseas manufacturing has fundamentally threatened our national security. And while President Wolf has made incredible strides in bringing back manufacturing in our country, we are not yet where we need to be.”

“Today I am calling on the nation to commit itself to a righteous task, we must end our reliance on overseas manufacturing, especially reliance on our rivals like China, and commit to building our domestic manufacturing capacity.”

“There was once a broad consensus that opening up China to trade and normalizing their economic standing would be essential to improving China’s human rights record, would be essential to improving their standing with other nations. That could not have turned out more wrong, no only has China become increasingly authoritarian but they have continually defied international law and sought to expand their corrupting influence all over the world.”

“It has only been in the past several years that we have begun to reach another consensus, that China is a threat. And despite some remarkably out of touch comments from Senator Westra and others, we are finally willing to do something about it.”

“In search of quick profits we have lost jobs, industrial capacity, and frankly a bit of our spirit. From towns all over the country that are now just memories of a proud past due to the jobs flowing out of our country, to the countless families destroyed by the fentanyl flooding into our country, it is a threat to not only our national security, not only our economic security, but the very freedoms we enjoy.”

“Simply put, China does not play by the rules the rest of the world does. In the aftermath of WW2 and the Cold War the United States helped create an international system for nations to operate in. China has no desire to join that system, and exploited our fiscal, trade, tax and patent laws that we passed to open trade with them, in order to exploit and destroy our companies.”

“The World Trade Organization has suffered similar exploitation, with Beijing enjoying all the benefits it entailed but none of the responsibility. Every attempt to call them out was stifled by companies making money off the cheap labor and goods they were now receiving. Too many stayed silent as China committed human rights abuses in Tibet, Xinjiang, Tiananmen Square, and now in Hong Kong.”

“I stand with Hong Kong today, I'm sure most everyone in the country does. But what does that mean? What are we going to do about it?”

“I for one refuse to let China keep stealing our intellectual property, refuse to let them subsidize their markets and destroy ours, refuse to let them expand their markets while they deny ours, and all the while they use these profits to become our near peer. Seeking to replace us in every field.”

“The way forward is not just about halting China’s rise, it’s about our commitment to reaching new heights. Just as we spent decades defined by our Cold War with the Soviet Union, in coming years we will be defined by our rivalry with China. It is not a conflict we asked for, not one we started. But I promise you it is a conflict we can and must rise to the challenge of meeting.”

“No longer can we ignore China’s violations of international law, their violations of their agreement with Hong Kong, the militarization of the South China Sea, the human rights violations of million of Uyghurs and Tibetians, the systematic oppression of religion, the new colonialism of the Belt and Road Initiative, and the crackdown on freedoms around the world, including here in the United States.”

“If we seek to take China on we must recognize the sources of its power, its vast resources, labor pool, its market access, its technology, and perhaps most importantly its national focus on the task at hand. It’s not some laughable 5 year plan, this is a dedicated and comprehensive strategy to become the leader in world industries.”

“For as long as we have existed as a nation, our greatest strength is our prosperity fueled by our values. And for centuries it has been our industry that has fueled our nation, our middle class, our families and communities. Industrial jobs were what enabled parents to give their children better lives, and meet their own personal American dream.”

“What won the Civil War, WWI, and WW2, the Cold War, was our industrial capacity as much as any victory achieved through force of arms. One day we may reach an agreement with China, where they will stop breaking international law, but that will not be the end of the challenge they pose.”

“The utter despair and desperation in the Rust Belt, the destruction and death in our inner cities, is due in part to the erosion of industrial jobs, an erosion we cannot blame solely on China.”

“When I call on our nation and our politicians to recognize the need to focus on restoring and growing our industrial capacity, our manufacturing sector, it is not a call to socialism, our free market and American entrepreneurship is the driver of our greatness as a nation. But we also must recognize that as a nation, we have national interests beyond short term profits.”

“Without increasing strength in trade-able sectors we will not have the capability to be secure and prosperous. What I am calling for is not nationalization as the left would have, they would do well to remember that throughout American history we have relied on collaborations between the public and private sectors to reach new heights as a nation, whether through winning WW2 or by putting a man on the moon.”

“From the Internet to the Jeep, innovations have come from public-private partnerships, and that collaboration is not a rejection of capitalism, it is an encouragement and embracing of capitalism vital to our national development.”
“Our private companies are not competing with Chinese companies or doing business with Chinese companies. They are competing with and doing business with the Chinese Communist Party. This will never be a level playing field, this is the world’s longest suicide.”

“Rare-Earth Minerals are absolutely vital to defense and technology. We import 80% of them from China. 97% of our antibiotics come from China, 80% of our pharmaceutical ingredients come from China. Imagine what would happen if any of those stopped… For a day, a week, a month, a year? If we ever want to get tough and stop their neo-imperialism we need to acknowledge them may threaten that. Even if they didn’t we need to acknowledge that any number of factors can disrupt trade and supply. Should we put all our eggs in one basket, without an alternative, and then the supply is disrupted then we are in massive trouble.”
“Reversing this trend is in our national interest. It is in our national interest to have jobs available that are productive and fulfilling, jobs for the youth entering the workforce, for veterans returning home, and for parents raising the next generation. And it is in the national interest to ensure that jobs aren’t just available in SIlicon Valley and New York City.”

“Our small businesses are doing great right now but small business startups are still lagging. We should modernize and reform our Small Business Administration program to encourage investment in small businesses in key sectors like aerospace, rail, electronics, telecommunications and agriculture. We also need to expand the amount of federal money we are giving for Research and Development to Small Businesses.”

“For our big businesses, we need to acknowledge that a bunch of the bailout money from the recession was used to buy back shares, not save jobs. And we need to acknowledge that our tax code still incentivizes that. We should codify the write off for any investments in machinery, structures, land and make sure to reward the investment of profits back into the company and its workers.”

“This means a continuation of the rollback President Wolf got started, to make sure we have an appropriate and healthy balance between protections and economic strength, without exploitation or abuse.

”A stable, healthy, and wealthy workforce in turn lends itself to renewed commitments to family, to community. That is in the national interest. National Security and Job Creation go hand in hand.”

“The tradable sector, manufacturing, industrial agriculture, energy, minerals… the areas I want to focus on… every dollar of manufactured goods sold generate $1.33 in other sectors. If you build a dishwasher, someone will sell it in retail. But every dollar in retail generates only 66 cents, a similar number in professional and business services. We export far more manufactured goods than we do services.”

“We cannot continue as a Great Power, let alone a Super Power if we do not have our own innovative, dynamic and health manufacturing base. To say nothing of having a base that is utterly reliant on our biggest rival. Imagine trying to win the Cold War if we bought all our missiles from the Soviet Unions.”

“We must make the Wolf Tax cuts permanent, and continue to reform our tax code in a way that incentivizes making investments in companies and workers. With a special focus on the tradable sector. This includes a tax code that incentivizes raising wages and hiring workers rather than stock buybacks.”

“We must also ensure our borders are secure and we focus on taking in immigrants based on in demand skills and direct them to in demand locations. An over-saturated labor poll would de-incentivize companies from raising wages for those positions. The supply of unskilled workers should not exceed the demand for workers.”

“Our energy sector is in need of similar reform and refocusing. We are a net exporter of oil, our natural gas boom is the main driving force behind our economy right now. But we are still not truly energy independent.”

“The crude oil we export is fairly useless without refineries, which we lack. While we are up over a million barrels a day compared to a decade ago, that is really not a massive jump. If our oil and petrol trade halted tomorrow we would see massive shortages of gas and other usable fuel, but we would have plenty of crude oil which doesn’t help you get to work in the morning. Drilling more holes in the ground isn’t going to cut it. We need to focus on our refining capability if we want true energy independence.”

“I heard someone say that America was waking up too late to the threat, to all we have lost. But I think we are waking up just in the nick of time. And I know we can meet the challenge ahead of us.”

“I’ve been asked what President I would model myself off of. While I like to think I would make my own way, I will admit to an immense admiration for President Eisenhower.”

“He said, ‘Spiritual force, multiplied by economic force multiplied by military force is roughly equivalent to security. If any one of those factors fell to zero, or nearly so, the resulting product does likewise.’”

“Almost as much as my father’s words I have tried to live by these. It is my sincere belief that a commitment to rebuilding our nations industrial strength, bringing it to new heights, will strengthen our spirit, economy, and our military strength. By extension helping secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.”

Richardson: When my daughter was born my life changed. Its a cliche sure, but nothing can truly prepare you for what its like to be a parent.

Image

Richardson: First time changing diapers, first restless night, first haircut, bruised knees, broken hearts, her first school dance, and now her high school graduation and watching her become a young woman.

Image

Richardson: Today a lot of parents are having trouble making ends meet, trying to work full time in those key early days while being a full time parent.

Image

Richardson: Our country is built on the family unit, and we should be advancing a “Family First” Agenda

Image

Richardson: I’m Governor Nate Richardson, as President I want to give parents more time with their newborns by giving them the option of transferring Social Security benefits from the future to the present, in addition I want to greatly expand child tax credits. This empowers parents to take the time they need to give the child the love and attention they deserve, without sacrificing financial security.

Image

Richardson: So in 2020, join me in putting families first. I’m Nate Richardson and I approve this message.

Levi Murphy
@LeviMurphy

Israel IS an apartheid state! If elected, I would suspend all aid to Israel until they can show full commitments to human rights and just treatment of the Palestinians.

Murphy: "The DOVE Act was deeply flawed, and at its core, a deeply interventionist - the shame really was, is that I was the only person in the Senate who DIDN'T vote for it. The Act claims to recognize a politician in Venezuela, Juan Guadio, as the President of Venezuela, which, is a joke. The United States, let alone the US Senate, be deciding who and who isn't the President of a foreign country.

Image

Murphy: "Why does my opinion matter? I am the Senator for Minnesota, the furthest you could get from Venezuela. We should just plan get out of their business. I'm sure the people of Venezuela wouldn't care what I thought about who their President should be, and I'm sure they'd be pretty pinged off knowing everyone else in the room thinks they have a better idea than they do"

Image

Richardson: Senator Murphy doesn’t know who our friends are and who our enemies are.

Image

Richardson: He thinks our Israeli allies are evil and should be boycotted but won’t support sanctions against the Murderous, Illegitimate, and Socialist regime of Maduro in Venezuela.

Image

Richardson: I stand with Juan Guaido, the legitimate President of Venezuela, and the brave people of Venezuela as they fight for a return to dignity and democracy. I stand with the people of Israel as they fight every day for the right to exist.

Image

Narrator: Murphy can’t tell who the good guys are. Show him the American people can. Visit Richardson2020.com

Paulson: Someone once said that ‘conservatism is just progressivism driving the speed limit’. In general, that’s a decent metaphor.

Image

Paulson: Socially conservative governance, not social conservatism itself, has reached the point where around every corner they have to make another compromise with the left to stay alive. It becomes a set of goal posts moving further and further away.

Image

Paulson: libertarians have been allies to Democrats when fighting social restriction

Image

Paulson: When the GOP status quo changes every 8 years or so, it’s clear that we can’t consider the shifting winds of Republican political trends a “rock,” but libertarian principles in a Republican framework are a consistent place to build the foundations of a better, more ethical, more moral government.

Image

Paulson: I’m a libertarian, but I am also a realist and know that you’re just splitting votes if you run as a libertarian in the Presidential race.

Image

Narrator: Paulson isn’t a Republican or a Conservative, she just wants to be elected President.

Narrator: Paid for by the Silent Majority PAC
