What is your area of expertise?: Writing and Character development are my strong suits, as well as worldbuilding here and there.

Would you feel confident teaching others this skill? Certainly, I've helped many with their writing during my tenure as a Co-OP of the Infinite Justice series.

In your own words, what is role play? A means to convey a story made by those around you, sometimes with no real endgoal in mind other than coming together and creating the brilliance that only multiple minds can. It is collaborative fiction in it's purest form, and the grindstone I use to improve my own writing ability.

Why do you RP? To challenge myself and advance ideas that I brew in my head for days and weeks on end, to have an audience to share with, and friends to call my own online. In my roleplaying, I don't see myself as the characters I write, but I can see bits and pieces of them inside me, and I can step into their shoes at times, because to me, the characters I write are their own separate beings.

Would you consider doing commissioned work? Honestly no, as I feel like my art isn't really up to standard. I have commissioned artists to do work for me to portray my characters, however.

I find letting players TG each other and settle things out in an OOC fashion is good. I might consider taking it to the IC if I thought I saw potential there.

Luckily, any player-to-player disputes I've encountered have been...well, not disputes at all, just banter.

Speaking of my RP, I should probably get to checking it out again. I still haven't updated the roster in two days...lazy me.

EDIT: Taking to to the IC as in maybe finding or seeing a way to juxtapose them or give them each something to do that I feel would help them see something or work something out. It's rare when that happens, but it can also be pretty good for both the players OOC and in the IC.

Weekly Q: How do you, as OP, handle player disputes?

It depends upon the group. For example, I'll ask my CoOPs if they're up for handling minor disagreements if it's just a matter of mediation/misunderstanding between players.

A major issue in a group gets my undivided attention. CoOPs tend to stomp on fires as best they can while I'm offline. Once I log in, I listen to the initial complaint and then investigate. Are the accusations based off fact, or just speculation? Is the issue serious or something trivial at heart? I attempt to approach with an open mind, and mediate as best I can. "OP is god" but that means having the patience of a saint, too.

I have zero tolerance for explosive attitudes (harassment, baiting, gloating) in the OOC so, regardless of who is in the wrong, I will boot the player that can't keep his composure and insists upon violating the OSRS. If I have to kick a player, I take a dim view of gossip about them in the OOC. That player is not allowed to post ergo they can't defend themselves. Public gossip isn't fair to them.

I've had solid, mature-minded RP groups, for the most part. My CoOPs are awesome - thank you, Min, Swith, and Tilt. I choose my players carefully and search their post history. The player quarrels, if any, are usually over stupid OOC things rather than IC disagreements as a result. (No group is without a few spats.)

I usually ask players to take a break if they're causing too much friction in my group. I outright ban players for behind the scenes/OSF/IRC offenses such as blackmail, harassment of other players, or abuse of my CoOPs.That banned player will find themselves blackballed in all my future games.

It depends on what the dispute is about and how it may effect the RP. If two people simply don't like each other for reasons unconnected to the RP but have come to an agreement to just avoid bringing it up or interacting with one another then there's really nothing there for a CoOP to handle. If there is a dispute that needs handling, again, it may depend on the nature of the dispute: if it involves behavior with regards to how the RP is played, it most likely needs to be handled in the OOC. If it involves purely player-to-player conflict, a more private setting may be required.

Taking an OOC dispute into the IC is dangerous as all hell and should be totally avoided. It makes the game tense and therefore not fun, the characters' behavior can come across as nonsensical when taken out of context, and sets it up so that future IC disputes can be misinterpreted as OOC attacks. That isn't, however, to say that IC and OOC behavior aren't ever connected. A player who behaves poorly may use a character who behaves poorly in a similar fashion, which would require simultaneous addressing of both the player and the character. A character's actions should never automatically be taken as a reflection of the person playing them (such as with playing villains or people with different moralities), however it's not impossible for a character's behavior to lend insight into the attitudes of the player, especially if the player doesn't understand why the character is being interpreted negatively (see also). So while OOC should never be taken into IC, depending on the situation, IC might need to be taken into OOC to discuss the poor form.

As to the weekly question:

If it is my thread and people are bickering in the OOC, I'll mediate that or put a stop to it (re: thread ownership) then and there and advise them to come to me or resolve it themselves via TG or other platform that rather than potentially violating forum rules. If I'm under a Co-OP position (such as PL or other RPs), I'll mediate and find a resolution that either works without adding more on the OP, or propose it to the OP as a solution. If it gets down to more serious matters (baiting, flaming, etc, etc.), I work behind the scenes and silently.

And I'm totally admitting to my vote on option 4, cause yesterday's chat that no one knows about
