Why not play a minor nation? The rest of Persia is open, and Greater Nepal is actually pretty sizable, and has a nice chunk of India despite being a vassal state of my nation.

Because I'm not interested in playing outside Europe. One because I just like Europe and secondly because I don't know shit about Asia or the Americas when it comes to history. Which is why I'm always slightly annoyed by the rather unlikely land-grabs of European powers in AltHist RPs... (there's no way a unified Scandinavia exists outside Victoria II, so why the fuck is there always one?)

But then I just see how much Europe there still is left, so I might reconsider my "Out of here" though due to this being one of my favourite time periods to play in, so just maybe I'll go for Bulgaria or Romania. That was a bit a quick reaction because I am looking to play NL in AltHist for quite some time now and never manage to get it, and my usual secondary choices (Finland/Sweden/DK, whatever's open) have been taken as well.

I sent this to the OP in a telegram. I added up my colonial empire, and it ranges from 4,555,904 sq. km to 5,005,904 sq. km, roughly. I was going to make the Hejaz region a protectorate or a vassal state, but I decided to actually add that and Egypt to my territory. However, if someone comes along who is willing to play as either Egypt or the Hejaz (maybe even both) as a protectorate/vassal state, then I'm open to letting them do so. I added more colonies because I wanted a chance to explore some colonial issues, and Madagascar didn't really give me that since we are in a PU with it. I hope that this is okay ^-^

I'm also not interested in Asia, so researching it just so I can take part in Alt Hist roleplays seems a bit... extreme? I mean, Bulgaria or Romania would actually be open, right? Hell, France looks open if the map is up to date. There's plenty of space on a second look, once I stopped obsessing over NL and Scandinavia. So now my post serves for nothing more than some drama and bitching about unified Scandinavia Oh, also a little note to Bheothachadh, in case you care about it: "Deutscher Zustand" makes no sense, the word you're looking for is "Deutscher Staat". Zustand refers to the other meaning of "state", as in "the state of affairs". Don't take this as an attack or anything, please, just a native speaker who couldn't help but notice ^^

I've also been doing some research on Thorium, which I have the world's largest reserves of. Apparently a Thorium reactor breeds Th-232 through Protactinium-233 which creates Uranium-233, which can be used in nuclear weapons, inckuding gun-type fission weapons. When used in gun-type fission weapons, the U-233 doesn't pose a significant danger of premature initiation, making them a bit safer to use; though they are probably still not as good as implosion methid nukes. Thankfully, U-233 can also be used for nuclear artillery in the form of gun-type fission weapons when (if, actually, since my nation might not get there) we get to implosion method nukes. Thorium reactors also excel at making tritum, which thermonuclear weapons require. I'll have to wait until the 50s and 60s to create MSRs (molten salt reactors) using Thorium because enrichment didn't exist in the 40s (making U-Pu reactors the only way to go), but I'm sure I can scrape up some Uranium from other places. Now remember that in the 40s, Uranium reactors were used to create weapons material. It wasn't until 1951 that the world'd first electricity-producing reactor came.

Okay, so, with the map update I posted here and sent to the OP, I added more territory to myself since the Ottoman Empire is gone. With my larger population and land holdings, do you guys think that I should increase military numbers? Without increasing the army, I'm at about 750,000 (it was formerly about 325,000 away, which I was much more comfortable with) away from 1%, and without increasing the navy or airforce I am not confident that I'll even be close to being able to defend my stuff. I'm writing up new numbers now, but I was also wondering what you guys thought.
