Hogwarts Year Three: Dark magic returns pt1

After the classes had ended, William had said goodbye, with a drawn out and passionate kiss to Ava so they could both return to their dorms. After looking through his things a bit and a swift visit to, the familiar by now, library, he had returned to the dorm with a book detailing the brief period of Voldemort's rule in wizarding Britain. After settling in the Ravenclaw common room, he started reading it. Interesting information in there. Controlling both Hogwarts and the Ministry, a period of true prosperity for every true wizard. Although this book has a noticeable Mudblood bias. he thought, before James approached Adonis, who was reading about Grindelwald.

Both purebloods... I wonder what they think about halfbloods who share their views? he thought as he heard them speak to each other.

"They say his duel with the traitor Dumbledore was the greatest wizarding duel ever witnessed." he said, before adding "The wrong wizard won that day."
Although Grindelwald pales in comparison to the Dark Lord.

Rachel

Rachel smirked as Andrew provocatively called the Gryffindor team to battle. Judging by everyone else's reactions, a practice game was in order. She pulled her goggles over her eyes and kicked off into the air, joining the teams assembling on the pitch.

"Looks like Andy's calling for a game," she began before retorting back in a joking manner. "Oversized house cats? That's a load'a fightin' words! Let's go!"

Rachel flew to an offensive position by the chasers, idly twirling her beater's bat by a string attached to the handle.

James' smile spread from ear to ear as Adonis introduced himself- and announced that he was also a Pure-blood. Lowering his voice and glancing furtively to make sure no one was eavesdropping, he said, "I take it you're one of us? A Pure-blood supremacist, I mean?"

After Adonis had answered James turned to see William Darkenstone, another Ravenclaw Third Year, coming towards them. William was another bookish type, and because of his introversion they'd interacted very little in the three years they'd studied at Hogwarts. James, however, got the impression that William was interested in the Dark Arts, not least from the titles of books that he read.

"Good afternoon, William," he said cheerfully as the boy approached. William's eyes instantly honed in on the book Adonis was reading.

"They say his duel with the traitor Dumbledore was greatest Wizarding duel ever witnessed," he said quietly. "The wrong wizard won that day."

James blinked. That was an unexpected outburst. Of course, he agreed with William; he was just surprised. He wondered briefly what life would be like if Grindelwald had won his war. The wizard had dominated the Continent for many years, but facts had been lost and distorted by the Muggle-run Ministry of Magic. What a sickening reality.

"You share our views, William?" James asked. "What's your last name again?" he inquired, racking his brain to remember the well-respected Pure-blood families outside of the Sacred Twenty-Eight.

Henry Grey

Henry had been caught levitating pebbles at mud-blood first years. At first he didn't know which teacher had shouted at him, ubt it was obviously Filch the III, running after him at his typical limping gait he had gotten after he had been shot as a young boy by a losse sectumsempra in the Battle of Hogwarts, cutting his inner knee quite seerly, which never healed. Henry pulled his cloaks hood over his head, though his hair was signifigantly longer than it was the year before, which he hoped was a signifigant disguise.

Ducking two corners in rapid succession, he dove into a room, when the door suddenly shut and locked behind him. The ghost of a girl slightly older than him appeared. She giggled "Ooh, you are certainly in a pickle aren't you. It's not often boys stumble into my bathrrom like that, and judging by the lack of a lady friend, you are trying to hide" Henry picked himself up from the ground "I've heard of you from some of the older students. You're Myrtle aren't you?" The girl giggled "That is my name. It's a shame we just got acquainted, being caught in the opposite bathroom isn't a good thing, especially for someone in your situation." Henry saw that all the stalls were in massive states of disrepair. The only place to hide was under a couple of sinks, but that clearly wouldn't help. He asked Myrtle "Are you sure there is no where to hide?" Myrtle gave her biggest laugh yet "Well there is the pipe, but you'll have no luck there. Only the famous Harry Potter ever made it down there, along with that ugly red-head, and they could do something I am sure you can't, snake-talkers." Henry's eyes widened as he realized he needed Parseltongue to enter. He quickly shouted/coughed "Open". The result was immediate. One of the sinks folded up and a pipe shaped like a slide appeared in the wall behind it. As he slid down he shouted "Thank you Myrtle!" before hearing the door close behind him.

Upon hearing James' question he nodded, "Yes I am, those filthy mudbloods think their so great. Without us purebloods they wouldn't even know who they are," he says a bit coldly. That's when William came up.

"They say his duel with the traitor Dumbledore was greatest Wizarding duel ever witnessed," he said quietly. "The wrong wizard won that day."

Adonis nods, "yes it is sad he lost the War; However, Dumbledore did lose something he was quite fond of during that War." He smiles at the thought of the war, "he lost his sister."

William gulped as the two boys turned towards him. He addressed both of them in his usual, cold voice.
"Good afternoon. Well, I believe I do share your views but can't be sure if I share their entirety. I do have a fond appreciation for the greatest Dark wizards of our times."he said, pointing to both Adonis' book and the one he was holding on the way there. And I wish I could, one day, be like them. he thought, before Henry asked William what his last name was.
There's really only one reason he could want it.

"Darkenstone." he said, before Adonis addressed him.
"It was surely a big loss for Dumbledore but one man was thrown in a prison cell until he died while the other continued to influence events in the Wizarding World for half a century more. So, there was a clear winner there."

The two friends were spectating the Quidditch players while sitting on the grass, It was slightly boring, until one of the Hufflepuff players taunted the Gryffindor team.

"Ooh, looks like a little game is starting." Says Courtney, "Come on, let's sit in the terrace, we'll get a better view from there."

As the two sat down, they began cheering for the Hufflepuff team, "Wooh! Go Hufflepuff!" "Show them who's boss!"

"If you truly wish to learn this I must warn you," he told her sternly. "You will be opening your mind up to me. If their are things you do not wish me to see, I recommend doing what you can to hide them away; I will keep everything confidencial, however I can well understand the student who doesn't want her teacher knowing about her love life, for example."

Ava

You didn't have to be a ravenclaw to have a brain, or to answer a silly riddle. The riddle answered successfully, Ava walked quietly into the Ravenclaw common room, made a b-line for William and sat beside him.
He was with James and another third-year, studying an old book on Grindelwald. Her interest peaked by the discussin, she put in her own say, a smile playing upon her face.
"Obviously it's important to study these failed dark wizards," she told the little group. "So we can work out where they went wrong. We don't want to make the same mistake, do we?"

Caitie

After Gleen's austere warning, Caitie let her smile drop.

Compared to some of the other students my hobbies probably seem quite benign.

"Don't worry, professor," Caitie said in her usual dour tone. "My love life is pretty non-existent so there's nothing to hide there. As for my other extracurricular activities, well, I'll be sure to guard with everything I have." The sorceress flashed a brief smile for good measure.

Derek

"Does someone have the Snitch? Throw it up here then!"
Someone on the ground threw something shiny into the air and Derek dove down on his broom, tracking the flying winged golden Snitch.
He noticed that Adam was right behind him.
"How did you catch up to me so fast?"

He looked at Ave, "yes, like a actual power structure, absolute power can crumble easy, but say a council of leaders, instead of one all-powerful leader, could work easier. Like say a council of the heads of all Pure blood families, or say a council of the ones who brought about this change."
He smiles at her, "I'm Adonis Velnaris by the way." He extends his hand to her.

Rachel shook her head as Derek was suddenly swooping down. "Wait, are we starting?" She called out. Then everyone else started flying through the pitch and the quaffle, bludgers and snitch were up in the air. The game was on.

"Here we go!" Rachel then gripped her bat and made a beeline for the first bludger she saw. Readying a backswing, she charged and swung at a bludger that had gone after Lauren, who managed to catch hold of the quaffle. She hit the thing with a loud THWACK! The bludger missed a Hufflepuff chaser by almost an inch and veered off towards the Hufflepuff goal post, likely deciding to home in on Andrew or another beater if they had one defending the goal.

Shite... she thought. Rachel proceeded to fly alongside Lauren and the chasers as they battled their way closer to the Hufflepuff goal post. Her eyes were darting around for any incoming bludgers.

"Go on, I've got your back!"

Lauren dove towards the goal post, speed increasing.
Those on the ground only saw a blur and then cheers from the Lions as they scored a point.
"One down...however many left to go, we can do this, guys!"
Lauren flew back to her original starting position for the next Quaffle.

"Darkenstone."

James tried to remember if he'd heard that anywhere, in some Pure-blood registry, or in a history book, or anything. It didn't ring a bell.

"You are a Pure-blood, right?" he finally asked William, cocking an eyebrow. At that moment the common room's door slid open, and a girl walked in. A Slytherin girl. James' eyebrows narrowed slightly, but he then recognized her as Ava, William's girlfriend. She quickly asserted her own views on the subject. Adonis seemed pleased to meet them all.

James decided to make an announcement. "Ever since Dumbledore this school's been on a downward spiral, which is why my father is lobbying to be made a School Governor." He smirked. "He's sure he'll be confirmed, and maybe then Hogwarts can finally be returned to its glory days, when it was actually a respectable institution and didn't admit all this Mudblood filth."

William approached Ava and stood by her side, gently touching her hand.
"Surely. No matter how much great power they possessed, they made mistakes that led to their downfall. And such a council-" he added looking towards Adonis "-would be a great idea. The great Dark Wizards of the present allied and cooperating to ensure peace, justice and stability. "

Then James spoke. William gulped and sighed, before he turned towards him.
"No, I am not a pureblood. I am a halfblood. My family isn't pure, well known or rich. I do, however, seeing the true nature of Muggles, see the need for a radical change in the Wizarding world. And, I believe, that the secret are the Dark Arts. I am convinced they are the most powerful type of magic and whoever can master their deepest secrets, can be a force of true power."

He sighed, knowing that blood status was a point that could cost him some things. Or not? he thought.

Andrew

Almost slipping from his broom as the bludger zoomed past his head, missing it by inches, he watched as the quaffle missed his hand by a meter or so, with him off guard, which Lauren threw into the furthest hoop from him, he grinned. It was a good shot, after all "Nice shot!" he yelled, before tossing the Quaffle towards one of his own chasers, and hovering around the centre hoop closer, to ensure he was ready.

"C'mon, Badgers, up your game!"

Gleen

"Very well," Gleen said, still unconcerned as he continued to dust apple tarts with a little icing. Straightening from his task when they were completed, he offered the tray of tarts to Caitie.
"Do you wish to begin learning this...highly specialised form of magic today, or were you just hear to enquire and to have an apple tart?" he asked.

Ava

"It could almost be a counterbalance to the muggle-infiltrated ministry," Ava put in, feeling she could contribute more. "When a minister turns out to be useless, their's always a handy replacement. When a dark wizard falls, everything goes to crap."

Marcus

Potions had been a lucky escape for Marcus. He was about to sniff his and Cyrus' potion when his partner keeled over; smartly he'd chosen against such a move, and had in fact been the person who did most of the heavy lifting required to get Cyrus to the hospital wing.
With nothing better to do, and thinking that it might help somewhat, he opened the hospital wing door and crossed over the room to Cyrus' bed, noticing that he seemed bleary but awake.
"How's it going?" he asked, drawing up a chair.

She held up a hand as Gleen offered her a tart.

"No thank you," she replied. "But yes, I would like to begin as soon as possible"

That way I can get to work having some more fun at the new place before long, she thought silently, before shifting awkwardly where she stood.

"That is of course if you are able, sir"

James' smile was wiped from his face when William revealed that he was a Half-blood. Now, James had been brought up to believe that Pure-bloods were the greatest of all Wizardkind, but had formed his own opinion about Half-bloods. He realized that, in the days of Grindelwald and Voldemort, their followers were so numerous that some had to have been Half-bloods, and so the lot of them weren't all bad. They had to be tolerated, as they were essential to the establishment of a Pure-blood Wizarding World. That said, James could never see a Half-blood as his equal.

"As long as you're on our side, I suppose it doesn't matter if you're a Half-blood. We need every man we can get in this battle."

"Well it really doesn't matter what sort of a wizard any of us is, does it?" Ava asked, looking challengingly at James. The slightest thought that her boyfriend was somehow at a lower level than someone else made her feel a little bit sick, and made her want to teach the person making the comment a quick lesson.
"My family makes broomsticks," she went on. "We're quite good at it, you know...broomsticks that is. We've interbreeded with muggles a lot in the past few hundred years, but we're still very very good at broomsticks, That makes me wonder if it really matters what sort of wizard you are at all, even maybe a muggle born can be useful. Even a centaur...a house elf, it's the magic that matters, nothing else."

Gleen

"Suit yourself," Gleen said dismissively, taking a large bite of apple tart, showing Caitie exactly why he was so plump around the middle. "I'm going to start by showing you what to look out for, the feeling of having your mind dove into. So you can defend against it...naturally, as my job officially isn't teaching students whatever dark arts they fancy learning. So, clear your mind of things you really don't want me to see; I mean I'm good at this, so it probably won't make much difference but try anyway."

James was taken aback by Ava's sudden outburst. What has gotten into her? Admitting that you're not Pure-blood!

"I thought you were one of us, Ava!" he exclaimed. "You said you were a Pure-blood. You know what that means- purely magical. You're saying that your family are just posing as Pure-bloods, reaping the rewards? You know, I don't really care what blood type you are, so long as you're allied with us and you're not a dirty Muggle-born, but pretending to be Pure-blood!"

"I am a pure-blood," Ava told James, rather curtly. "My father is pure blood, my mother is half-blood. We've all sorts in our family, you know...even a goblin far back if the rhumours are to be believed. Anyway, are you really telling me that your family has only married other pure bloods? How is that even Still possible?"

James was seething. This sick half-breed was trying to claim not only that she was a Pure-blood, but also that he wasn't one!

"That's not how it works, Ava," he said through clenched teeth. "Unless both of your parents are Pure-blood, and both of their parents are, and all of their parents are, and so on, you aren't a Pure-blood. And, for your information, you can trace my family tree all the way back to the Dark Ages, and you'll find that I don't have a drop of non-magical blood flowing through my veins. My family is Pure-blood through and through."

He looked at Ava almost in disgust. Was she really part-Goblin? Revolting.

James was getting angry, and for some reason this made her pretty happy with herself. People like thiswere never going to change their mind, so it was best to try and prove you were simply better than them, which she was going to do happily.
looking at him, a look of cerene calm upon her face only tempered by the slightest little smattering of pitty, she responded.
"That's not pure-blood, James," she told him pleasantly. "What that is is mental. What does it matter if you have a muggle in the line or a goblin or whatever, even if you're the deranged love-child of a lonely witch living alone and her house elf then who gives a shit. Pure bloods can't go on only marrying pure-bloods, it's not sustainable. The sacred 28 will end up being called the sacred 12, due to the number of toes they have. You're already about as inbred as is healthy, don't make it worse for yourself."

James face was beginning to turn red, his hand starting to tremble towards the pocket in robes where his wand was contained. He was struggling to keep his composure, and if Ava wasn't someone he'd known since his First Year, he might have cursed her by now.

"You're no better than a filthy Mudblood," he spat. "Your families' dinky little brooms can't come close to outstripping a Firebolt, you can't claim an ounce of pure blood, and I'm sure you're as magically talented as a pig!" Pigs were known as one of the most decidedly non-magical creatures in the world. "Try speaking to me that way again, and when my father is made governor he'll have you expelled!"
