The Cleganes are still only Landed Knights, while the Baelishs were given a lordship. So, while the Cleganes are richer, the Baelishs outrank them socially

I believe it has to be the bastard of a noble, so you couldn't use even a bastard surname unless proven parentage from a noble or knight. As far as Commoners using their own surnames, I am unsure

I do not believe so. I don't think they did that in the canon either

I think you are right, considering several characters were seen wearing the same armor in the tournament they lost, and after in other battles. Especially since no-one cared when Gregor killed his own horse and stomped off with his armor after losing to Loras.
Anyhow, I will finish my post then research your character, then I will get back to you on how to proceed with our joust once you finish your bout.

While Oberyn should be able to deal with Dondarrion, Barristan v Jaime is a tossup for me, maybe leaning towards the latter due to his relative youth.

Gg. Considering Adrian and Niall are at about the same level in terms of skill, I think Niall would last 2-3 turns through diligently defending and counterattacking before taking an unlucky shot that would throw him off.
Regardless of who won though, I think we can all agree that the Red Viper is going to kick my ass tomorrow.
