Biography: Rana Blacklocke III is the daughter of Harkin Blacklocke the Third and Arika Blackwood. Her brothers are Brunn Blacklocke and Harkin Blacklocke the Fourth. Rana is unmarried, but not because she could not find any suitors, she is actually very popular among men of the neck as well as men of the north and ha had many offers in both past and present. She has received offers from members of the Karstark, Glover, Blackwood and Umber families. However she has turned them all down. At a young age Rana went back and forth between houses in the north visiting relatives in house Karstark, Forrester and Blackwood. She has a relatively strong relationship with all her family members save for her own father, however she could not bring herself to abandon Blackreach. Rana learned to be a lady in the North under the watch of House Forrester at the same time she also learned to be a crannogmen and to be honest it seems she prefered the company of snakes and lizards lions of the neck over the snakes and lizard lions of the north and south. In her young age she spent a year in Winterfell where she, Robb and Jon became fast friends spending many days playing in the woods, wrestling and even sword fighting though those were mostly kept secret. It is clear that Rana has had eyes for the Stark boy. By the age of 15 she was inducted to the Black Coats under the supervision of her older brother Harkin Blacklocke the Fourth. The Black coats are the Guardians of the Black and the only real military in Blackreach. Under the training of her brothers and the other Black Coats she honed her combat skills with a bow and quickly became one of the best fighters in the neck besting even her brothers. After a few years of training and rising in rank within the Black Coats her brother Harkin stepped down and nominated her for leadership. The Black Coat soldiers took a vote and she won 79/85 votes, the soldiers voted for many reasons but mostly because she is a competent and compassionate commander., Rana is known to put the care and health of her men over all else. She became the only woman to ever be elected as a leader of the Black Coats. This made her father unimaginably proud with her quickly rising to be his favorite child, seeing his only two sons wander off to Essos for a few years to start a small mercenary company, it gave the Lord no choice. Now Rana patrols the swamps and keeps the peace she has been known to make stops in small villages and make donations of food. She is universally known as a guardian of the people and the public face of House Blacklocke.

Anything is possible. Hell, orys one-hand, a landless bastard with unknown parents, became the hand of the king and lord paramount of the stormlands, and founded house baratheon.

Unknown parents? It's pretty much confirmed (though not out right stated) that Orys is Aegon's half brother.

Also thank you Argen, you perfectly explained what I meant about the Knights. I'm fine with a group of dudes who fight and serve. But like Argen said, they styled off the Kingsguard. (Take no wives, serve the king) which is a symbol of the Crown. That's why Renly made his Rainbowguard, he wanted to have his King's Guard to show that he is a King.

Robb doesn't have a Kingsguard cause that's a Faith of the Seven thing, but he does have his Royal Retinue. A group of great fighters who travel with the King at all times.

I'm fine with a retinue, but a small group of seven guys that is basically a Kingsguard is not okay, unless you're going independent.

Edit: Also he didn't really create House Baratheon. He basically just took House Durrandon's sigil and words and replaced the name.

Ok, but can his liege lord dismiss him? I feel like Morgryn is the kind of guy who changes his mind easily.

Yeah, I imagine that if Morgryn were to somehow obtain a second fief he would be looking for a Castellan. If Jon asked to be released Morgryn would probably accept grudgingly, as there is nothing worse than an unwilling bodyguard. Just ask Aerys.

no, jon is willing, able, and happy with his station. however, i'm asking like if morgryn were no longer satisfied by his service.

When I get my post up soon Morgryn will show Jon his hand on that topic, I would like to keep the details of that a surprise so that there is at least a small element of surprise.

Unknown parents to westeros. There's no actual proof, just plausible rumors.
I totally agree with having a group of knights that fight and serve, but the tully player is insistent on it, so who am i to disagree?

Being a castellan is a little different though since the rents of the land still go to the castellans lord. But still a good position to hold

I feel like you focused too much on the house and not enough on the character. Besides being elected you didn't really tell much of her bio. More details would of been nice, like expanding the "well known in the north"

Like, is she friends with any one in the North? Did she leave a lasting impression on anybody important? Maybe important enough to be a potential candidate for a wife to Robb? Did Lord Blacklocke try to arrange a betrothal between the two? Maybe the Brudds, Boltons or Glovers?

Also the detail of the two sons going to Essos. Why would the heir go to Essos? He is going to inherit, the father would certainly not allow this but he has all the training and power coming to him. Why go create a sellsword company? Makes no sense besides trying to find a to make a female the heir. I'm going to have ask that you fix this.

What made her want to pick up the bow? You say she's an expert but didn't go into any detail as to why.

Edit: Forgot this.
she prefered the company of snakes and lizards lions of the neck over the snakes and lizard lions of the north and south

What does this mean? Also there are a lot of spelling mistakes.

Ill go in and clarify a few things. Sank yu. I should have put in more about the heir coming back home recently. And Lord Harkin couldn't stop his sons because they just left. Harkin is a very adventurous type, his brother Brunn is like a loyal lap dog and goes with anything Harkin says. This leave the only real logical and only qualified heir, Rana.

Ill go in and edit, this is the kind of criticism I was looking for.

EDIT: The part about not liking the snakes in the north are her saying she likes actual snakes over the metaphorical snakes. ( politicians. )

I figured we'd get the jousting done in the first day and save the melee for the next. I honestly want to skip the melee due to how chaotic it is and just do a RNG to determine the winners. (Doing re-rolls of course to account for the Cleganes and Oberyn.) I would like to allow our plots to resume.

I would skip it personally. Announce a winner, give out a purse of coin and lets get to plotting!

I say rng it. Just announcing a victor completely disregards who would be in second and third place, the guys who don't get the gold but they get prestige.
So pretty much everyone aside from thoros of myr.

I still think we should do something because Jon is an accomplished fighter and it does matter how well he does along with other OCs.

Actually, how about this. 10 v 10 and 10 v 10, with the final round facing the victors off against eachother. Whichever team wins splits up the prize, 1000 gold dragons to every team member.
[EDIT]
Got it wrong, 20k goes to the winner, so 2k per team member.
Literally all that's needed is three posts by our best writer, describing the melee. As long as it gets done and our characters are represented, everyone is happy, right?

Westeros melees are a free-for-all.

RNG. One roll per participant. Highest roll gets first place, then second, then third. Re-roll equals to get one higher than the other.
Five participants. Rolls are:
A - 13
B - 15
C - 18
D - 20
E - 18

The 18s (C, E) are rerolled:
C - 7
E - 19

E beats C

So the winner is: D
Second Place is: E
Third place is: C
