The Stolen God: A Percy Jackson RP [OOC] [SPOTS AVAILABLE]

The Stolen God

Ever since the use of language was developed among humans, tales of supernatural being and creatures have been told and believed by their listeners as people struggled to grasp the complexity of the world they lived in. Most notable out of all these tales were those of the Ancient Greeks and the Romans who later adapted their stories to fit their own lifestyle. For hundreds of years, children would grow up hearing about the bravery of Heracles, the struggles of Romulus and Remus, and how the various gods managed every aspect of their lives from the weather to who they fell in love with. However, as civilizations grew in technology and their understanding of their world, the need to rely on their made-up gods, creatures, and heroes was soon thrown aside, and people began to see the world as one set by the rules of science and man.

But what if those tales of old weren't made up? What if, in fact, it was only due to their lack of faith in the olden tales that most people were made blind to what was really happening in the world around them.

Well, it's your lucky day, or perhaps unlucky, as this is exactly the case. The Gods still exist, except not as they once did. While they still retain their powers of the world, it is nowhere near where it once was. Thus, in order to accomplish their wills in the mortal realm, they rely on their children to carry the burden just like the heroes of old. These children, half human, half god, possess talents and abilities far greater than any regular mortal could obtain. These powers do not come without consequences, as monsters and other ancient evil powers seek to strike back at the Gods by going after these demigods. Even with their enhanced abilities, these demigods wouldn't stand a chance on their own against these forces of evil.

Thankfully, these demigods are not alone. For those with parents coming from the Greek side of things, Camp Half-Blood is where they can find not only a place safe from attack but a place where they can be trained to fight back. They also get to meet others who share the same fate and forge strong relationships with them. For the Romans, they have Camp Jupiter, where things are more or less the same as things in Camp Half-Blood, except that things like honor, tradition, and courage are required as they serve in the New Roman Army

For hundreds of years, these two camps remained bitter rivals of each other, often clashing with one another as although they shared similarities, they couldn't have been any more different from each other. It wasn't until a group of seven demigods from both camps came together to stop Gaea from bringing about the end of the world. That was ten years ago, and ever since then the two camps have thrown aside their old rivalries and agreed to help one another out in times of crisis.

Since the fall of Gaea, things have gotten relatively peaceful for both camps, as they both try and recover from the events of a decade ago. However, this peace will not last long, as new foes seek to destroy not only the gods but their children as well. Olympus has once again gone quiet, and those left in the mortal realm are beginning to tense up as the rate in which monsters have been appearing has begun to increase. Only the foolish continue to act like nothing is wrong, while the wise begin to prepare for the inevitable.

It's time, Demigod. How will you become a hero?

Introduction

Hello, and welcome to The Stolen God, a Character RP based on the popular book series Percy Jackson and The Olympians and Heroes of Olympus written by Rick Riordan. This RP is a collaborative work of many individuals who are all fans of the series that are wanting to expand the series a bit on our own terms. Players will have the chance to become a member of one of the two camps, Camp Half-Blood or Camp Jupiter. With the exception of the Big Three (Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon/Jupiter, Pluto, and Neptune), you have the choice of being the child of any god you chose and inherit their abilities. The existing source material is the set background lore of the series, so while anyone can join, it would be highly recommended to familiarize yourself with the series if you aren't already.

Players will have a chance to embark on a quest that, in Riordan fashion, will either save or destroy the Gods and the world around them. It will be up to you to decide how exactly you do this, which is why this RP is recommended for those willing to stay committed. While we understand that the real world takes precedence over this, going inactive when your character will be a major player the RP will hurt the RP as a whole. So while this is open to anyone who applies with an appropriate application, we suggest that you seriously want to involve yourself in this, especially if you want to be a key role in the RP.

Now, as long as I haven't scared you off, it's time to get to what you're dying to start up on, the applications!

Rules

1. OP and CO-OP word is law
2. No Godmodding, Metagaming, and other frowned upon practices in your writing
3. No one-liners, try to at least get a paragraph in
4. Keep things PG-13, specifically in the style of how Riordan wrote his novels
5. Disputes between characters are fine (If not encouraged) in the IC, but keep the OOC and Discord somewhat civil
6. Major roles such as Centurions, Cabin Leaders, etc are going to be restricted to those who show that they will remain both active and not abuse their power outside of plot purposes
7. Having one of The Big Three (Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades/ Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto) as your character's godly parent will be highly restricted, and intensely restricted to those we trust to handle it
8. The level of power your character possesses in his abilities should be at least somewhat evened out with a weakness that can be exploited
9. The Percy Jackson and the Olympians and The Heroes of Olympus are the canon for the RP, and the other series are not to be included, i;e, only Roman and Greek gods
10. You have 48 hours to reply to a post directly addressing your character without prior heads up, if you don't your character will be available for control to others

Name: Nick Winier
Age: 15
Appearace:
Image

Gender: Male
Camp Attended: Camp Half-Blood
Years at Camp: 4
Godly Parent: Nike
Position: Regular Camper; Nike Cabin
Abilities: Inspires hope when people might be down, good sword arm, quick
Weaknesses: wears light armor; low endurance; highly competitive
Equipment: A trumpet that raises morale and energy of allies, Vythométron; bronze breastplate, celestial bronze sword
Personality: Nick can be likable, at least when he isn't involved in any competitions. He becomes set on winning, especially when he's good at it, much like his siblings. Nick tries his hardest to swallow defeat (even second-best is defeat) when he is faced with this reality. Elsewhere, outside of competitions, Nick can be an enjoyable person when you don't get on his nerves. After a defeat is usually when his nerves are easily plucked.
Biography: Nick grew up in Seattle, with a father who would often go to train and practice for a sports team he played in. His father encouraged Nick to be active. Pushing him in a few different sports Nick himself would try to excel at but fail, Nick gave up on sports in general for a while, much to the disappointment of his father. Nick grew up in the Seattle area generally, and the more he grew up, the more his father was oft to shield him from going out too much, much to Nick's surprise.

Going through school was hard for Nick, what with his dyslexia and ADHD, but he always tried to study the hardest he could to ace tests. There'd be a few bullies who'd jeer at him for being unable to spell properly. Tired of them, he challenged them to partake in the spelling bee one year. Studying hard for months, Nick eventually came out on top at the spelling bee. The bullies weren't inclined to bully him much after that.

Soon after the year he won the spelling bee, Nick tried to get into baseball, and found he was successful. He always went early to practice and practiced at other times by himself at some batting cages, and he'd run bases in the nearby park. Able to get his team to win against other little league teams, Nick was proud of himself, and so was his father. However, Nick's life got weirder, and soon Nick was getting into trouble with his suspicions of people around him. Trusting only one person, Nick soon found there was more to the world than immediate reality. His friend turned out to be a satyr, oddly enough, but Nick was concerned with the monster chasing them. Running around the country avoiding monsters, and unable to call his father at any point, Nick was finally dragged into the boundaries of Camp Half-Blood.

Nick felt many feelings after being claimed by Nike, but was ultimately excited. Training harder than he perhaps needed to, and never backing down from a camp of many challenges no matter how silly, humiliating, or dangerous, Nick was endangering himself sometimes without even going out of the camp's boundaries, sometimes to the chagrin of Chiron. With the advice of Chiron, a kid from the Athena Cabin, and surprisingly the then-head of Nike Cabin, Nick was able to turn his addiction down to a healthy compulsion over the course of a few summers.

Nick enjoyed his summers training at Camp Half-Blood, and developed his own style of combat involving agility and light armor, quickly engaging someone in an attempt for swift defeat of his opponent. Nick is worn out quickly by this however, hence the attempt for swift victory. One year Nick got a gift, the trumpet Vythometron. Nick flies (Nike and Zeus are tight) to New York every summer, willing to sharpen his skills ever further. So far Nick has not gotten a quest, but he is waiting for one to prove himself.

Good point. Luckily still a WIP.
Oh, and I transferred it from an app I had started making in my nation Factbook and I copied it over to here. Changed it to Head of Cabin instead of just a regular camper changing it over, and forgot the age one would have to be. :p

Going to take a few breaths while I consider a character. Mind- I've only seen maybe two of the films- so if I get something canonically wrong CORRECT ME!

Oh goodness. The movies (calling them "films" is a crime against the cinematic arts) are monstrosities in general, but especially when held against the books.

That being said. I'm sure everyone who has read the books, myself included, will help you along the way!

I wouldn't count dyslexia and ADHD as weaknesses either since every demigod has some form of those.

Interesting, I have to finish the Roman books, I only got past the first book iirc, then started reading into the Egyptian Kane series, Olympian series was fantastic though. My knowledge is a bit rusty, I forgot what kind of abilities children of Ares, Apollo and Hermes had though.

It's pretty varied for those three. Ares tend to excel at all forms of combat; Apollo has good aim at everything and can spit out sick rhymes; Hermes is a very mixed bag, thievery was common in the books.

*looks through the Riodan Wiki*

I take it that being a Drakon is impossible in this RP.

*continues search*

Alright- can't play a monster. Closest is Cyclops but- you know- it's kind of an uncommon thing and based on the Odyssey (which I did read) I'd say not a good option. Plus I"m more into reptiles- but I can put that aside because I'm playing a snake in another RP and it's been a long while since I've played- well I don't think I've ever played a demi-god.

*thinks*

Let's start with a Greek/Roman deity. For this I'll consider what I want to embody in this RP, and find a diety that goes with it.

I've got it! Since I'll be learning a lot more about the setting as I take on a role in this RP I would like to play a demi-god descended from a messenger or transporter. I should learn a lot that way.

... Iris is too busy for demigods. Hmm... Nike is a little too important. Triton might be interest. Hermes or Mercury seems my best bet.

Saint Ryvern wrote:What god/dess are you leaning towards?

See above :)
(Iris was my first thought but she's out of the question and off limits)

! Wait, just realized that she does have a demi-god son. Ok- I misunderstood the wiki. I'm leaning towards Iris- but it still seems really strange. So another might be preferable.

You should go with Iris if you want. It's a peculiar choice, but it could be fun to play with.

How does this look so far? If another deity is more fitting of his powers or weakness please tell. Also, some suggestions on background are welcomed. I'm not sure how long he's been at the camp. I know his father to be of Indian decent; hence the middle and last name.

-WIP-

Name: Nestor Anand Dhawan
Age: 20
Appearace:
Image
Gender: Male
Camp Attended:Camp Halfblood
Years at Camp: (How many years have they been at the camp you just listed above?)
Godly Parent: Iris
Position: Camper
Abilities:
  • Superhuman Endruance - He can stay active longer the most which allows him to cover more distance when using his Superhuman Speed.
  • Superhuman Speed
Weaknesses: A shark needs to swim to breath and the same applies to Nestor. Even while asleep he is moving- weather it be sleep walking or fidgeting with his feet in his sleep. He sometimes stops breathing in his sleep causing him to wake up. As such he sometimes wakes up tired in the mind but able of body.
Equipment: Nestor wears a neckless that has a token with Iris's image on it- it's the only material gift he's received from his mother. If it has any power he isn't aware of it.
Personality: Kind, soft spoken, but deeply active and jovel. He speaks fast, but so does the rest of his mortal family. Hardly anything gets him down except standing still. It actually makes him feel weak and thus the only game system he can play is the Wii- and even then the games kind of bore him.
Biography: (Tell us your character’s personal history. Regale us with their origin story and heroic rise to prominence at their respective camp)

-DO NOT REMOVE, TRACKING PURPOSES- "Application" -DO NOT REMOVE, TRACKING PURPOSES-

Personal note: Name means; One who returns from travels with a message of joy.

I'm certainly motivated for this!

His powers are more fitting for a child of Hermes/Mercury. Though iris is associated with communication and messages too, so it can fly. They're just atypical based on what we see in the books. One other thing is that he's very old for a demigod at Camp Half-Blood. Most people end up at the camp when they're 11-13 and then leave at 18 to try and live a normal life. I'm just letting you know because the movies raised the age (because of the actors), so your character should have been around for at least 7-9 years.

Yikes!

Also I went off Butch's speed powers- at least such is noted by the wiki. Butch being a demi-god of Iris.

Edit: I don't think I'll take part in the RP as I don't portray characters under 16 very well, and even 17 it kind of testing. Still I wish everyone else the best of enjoyment in this RP :D

I mean, you could be 17 or 18 easily. 20 isn't too old either, it's just atypical so you'd have to explain his continued presence at camp well.

Name: Jax Balwin
Age: 14
Appearance: Standing at only 5' 8'', Jax isn't exactly tall. He has black hair, and it always seems to be disheveled in some way. He has a cheerful demeanor, causing him to smile often, but he does know how to be serious at times. He is caucasian. Figured I should add that bit in. More often than not he is seen clothed in a plain red t-shirt and jeans. His hands are usually fiddling with something, as he is unable to stand still for very long.
Gender: Male
Camp Attended: Camp Jupiter
Years at Camp: Second Year
Godly Parent: Vulcan
Position: Legionnaire
Abilities:He has the ability to sense certain mechanisms through walls and floors. Imperial Gold nd Celestial Bronze is more noticable, but he can still sense ordianry mechanisms as well.

He has an eye for how things work, he can look at something, and by feel and touch, he can somewhat realize how the mechanism works.

And, like all children of Vulcan, he is good with his hands, with assembling mechanisms, and with smithing.
Weaknesses: ADHD, Severe ADHD, he won't stay still for long. He has minor dyslexia, and he is definitely not on the muscular side of things. He prefers to build or assemble something to help him out than to actually fight, cause he's not good at the fighting bit.
Equipment: He carries A gladius, instead of the spatha, as his weapon, given to him when he joined the legion. He also has a dagger with him, also when he joined the legion. Both are Imperial Gold, and both cannot harm mortals, on monsters. Not that he actually uses them alot, prefers working on mechanical solutions.
He carries with him a notebook as well, that does exactly what notebooks do. You write stuff down, and you can read it later. Surprising, I know.
With him he carries a pen. This isn't just a regular pen, but it erases with the magic of friction ink! Wow! Coolio! It is also held in an Imperial Gold casing, so he could theoretically kill a monster with his pen.
Personality: He's disciplined, well, at least enough to pay respect and follow orders. He does seem outgoing at times, but he does know how to be serious when needed. He does try to help others, although he doesn't neccessarily always succeed. As for socially, he does talk to many people, but it takes something for him to truly trust anybody else.
Biography: Jax grew up in foster care, jumping from place to place. His mother, well, she was...er...she didn't want him, and his father was indisposed most of his life. Of course, he was a roman god, so they didn't exactly pop in to say hello. Jax always ended up getting in trouble, his hyperactiveness always messing with him, and his need to always do something. Anyway, he learned to just keep his head down when he can, and to just roll with it. This caused him to develop some social issues, not exactly trusting anybody, at least, not completely. This is how the first decade of his life went, bouncing from foster home to foster home, getting kicked out of schools, avoiding trouble when he could, always avoiding fights, but managing to get in trouble anyway.

Anyway, when he was about 11, he eventually wound up with Lupa. Through mishaps and mistakes, he manage to arrive at the Wolf House in California. He was judged by Lupa, and started to train with her. It took some time, but he eventually passed Lupa's training, and was sent forth to Camp Jupiter. He arrived, a little scratched, but nonetheless alive. It was only a few scrapes, nothing to noteworthy. He entered the Camp. At this time, he was 12 years of age. He joined the legion, and became a part of the first cohort. He learned the rules, followed the directions, with a loose definition of rule following, and managed to survive, and well, succeed in the legion. On his 13th birthday, his godly parent was shown, or rather a symbol. He woke up in the morning, with a blacksmiths hammr located within the room, the symbol of Vulcan. It was there that the symbol of hos parent was revealed. He made it off of probatio, and into legionnaire. And thus is where we find him now.

Name: Xuan Fang
Image

Abilities:
  • Magic
Fang can implement Pyrokinesis, the use of fire, though
this is somewhat limited. Throwing a fireball? Fine.
Making a wall of fire? Not fine. He does temporary
things, not structures made from the stuff, and most
things that require a continuous power supply will
      drain him quickly.
He can also heal people. The extent of his healing is
based in bleeding, fractured bones, and headaches. He’s
      no bonesaws after all, dammit.
He can also do shapeshifting, though this is only towards
himself. He likes suits. Always suits.
Weaknesses:
  • Dyslexia - Fang, like most Demigods, finds trouble in reading
English and a good deal of other languages. Some say it’s because
‘hardwiring’, he says it’s because English is a sucky amalgam of
languages. He’s not exactly wrong, either. His Chinese is not
    affected, however.
  • ADHD - His mind goes a lot of different places and while
this is slightly calmed due to his necessity to remain focused while
working on spells, he can still be all over the place. Sometimes
Fang takes medication for this. Sometimes he doesn’t. It’s a
    toss-up.
  • Armor. Fang doesn’t really wear it...at all. It’s not something
he does, due to twin preferences of being light and not being a
sweaty bastard. At the most he wears heavy jackets to keep-out
the cold and at the least he wears light, cotton t-shirts.
  • In terms of endurance, Fang is lesser than most. A history of
being in Hong Kong, urban Hong Kong, has lead him to the
couch potato life and, despite the musculature he’s gained in the
year of being there, he’s still no athlete.
Equipment:
  • Mr. Knock
Seven Barrels, 20 Gauge, and Celestial Bronze rounds not
included, Mr. Knock makes his appearance due to Fang’s
love of westerns. Upon coming to the Camp, he decided
that he really, really wanted to make one, and worked
closely with the Hephaestus Cabin in doing so. They had
a lot of fun making that, lemme tell ya, and he definitely
got some weird looks from people after it was done. It has
a short range and long reload, but pity the fool who
doesn’t get out of Mr. Knock’s way.
  • Celestial Bronze Glaive
Upon coming to the Camp, he decided a long reach
would be better than a quick strike. Gotta keep your
enemies away, after all. As such, he made a Glaive
in his first month there, imbuing the thing with nice,
special, lovely little magics. A six foot oaken pole with
a two-foot long blade on the end of it, it’s great for
propping up tents, cutting targets, or generally
      stabby-stabby slicey-slicey. Fang hasn’t named it yet.
Hard to make a pun out of a ‘Glaive’.

Age: 14
Appearance:
Standing at 5’7”, Fang’s taller than most of his age and disposition. With pale skin that looks to be just a tad tanned from adventures about the camp, he has a lean figure with a bit of musculature, as any Camper at Half-Blood would. He keeps his black hair a bit longer than most, though, simply because he has a distaste for barbers. Fang’s eyes are a dark green, like the leaves on an oak tree. Fang lacks a good deal of the scars some of his more reckless companions have, also.
Gender: Male
Camp Attended: Camp Half-Blood
Years at Camp: 1
Godly Parent: Hecate
Position: Camper
Personality:
A hard worker, Fang it’s afraid to take his own route in most things. Independent from his family being mostly gone the entire time and from an unwillingness to ask for help, he’s resourceful and a bit rude at times. He simply dislikes asking for help; it’s weird and an admittance of defeat. Training from both school and from Ms. Jeanette, though unintentional, was that you really had to learn how to work things out alone. That it wasn’t good to ask for help because that implied an incapability. As such, Fang’s also developed a large addiction to caffeine because he really, really wants to figure out a certain spell now and doesn’t want to wait.

Since his years at the camp, Fang’s become something of a bat, however. He can fall asleep in the middle of the day and can stay awake long into the night; he’s kind of had to. Magic’s only best when it’s night and to see the full effects of something Fang’s willing to stay up that long.
Biography:
Born in Hong Kong, in 2005, Fang’s life was a quieter thing than he’d like to admit. With a mother from Hong Kong and a father who, she’d said, was a visiting American, it was a hard thing. His mom worked on and off, on and off, and he had some issues in school. Diagnosed with ADHD from a younger age than most, there was the expected trouble in concentrating. Chinese was an easier language to learn, for him, though English presented a bit more difficulty. He always did fidget. Fang was raised, for the most part, by a babysitter who worked at the same Primary School as he went to, a Ms. Jeanette from Canada. She taught English. In reality, Ms. Jeanette was sent by Hecate to guard-over her child, an Empousai. Fang didn’t know; in fact, she just seemed like a very nice person who was a good deal older than him who he just happened to have feeli...look, blame teen hormones and Empousai seduction. Things happen.

In Hong Kong, as a result of both Fang’s distance from the events and the efforts of Ms. Jeanette, the effects of the Second Titanomachy were not much felt. He stayed at home, played games often, had one or two girlfriends, and overall had a quiet time during the period of greatest strife for the supernatural world. In fact, one of the bigger points in Fang’s life was the Umbrella Movement, in 2014. He was nine and the autonomous region was demanding more autonomy. Ms. Jeanette kept him away from the windows. Kept him away from the news. Just tried to keep him away from people in general. Unknowingly to him, that chaos attracted the attention of some more violent creatures. Some more violent hunters. She feared for him, in a way.

Her fears would be realized. The Anemoi Thuellai, Storm Spirits of chaos, they came, watching over the proceedings below and taking bets on who would do what, where, how. They bet and poked, prodded people do to what they wished, laughed when the movement was set-up by the police. When everything turned to ash. One of these spirits took note of the Demigod nearby, went to the apartment where they lived. Fang would watch Ms. Jeanette eat that spirit, and after that event he was pulled from school for an at-home program. The babysitter would stay there, too, becoming quite literally a second mother.

At the age of 13, he would be informed of a few things by Ms. Jeanette and, for one of the few times, by his mother. He would be sent away, to a Camp, for reasons sort of known to him. There he found that he could do freakin’ magic, aside from other things, and in a way it was a dream come true. The world was a bit more complex, for once, a bit more intricate and a bit more magical, and damn him if it wasn’t a bit more darker, too. He learned to swim, though. At least that was a normal thing.

Name: Eric Veranian
Age: 15
Appearance:
Image

Gender: Male
Camp Attended:Camp Halfblood
Years at Camp: 2
Godly Parent: Hecate
Position: camper
Abilities: Can read people's emotions as well as the ability to see through illusions. Not sure if this goes here but rarely a night goes by without Eric having a lucid dream, sometimes acting as a convoluted way for Hecate to contact him.
Weaknesses: Not exactly the strongest of fighters so while he can hold his own in a fight for the most part, he lacks enough strength to necessarily go on the offensive. He's more fragile than the average camper and lacks any noticable endurance or agility.
Equipment: -A talking tiki head (that only speaks in rhyme) given to him by Hecate
-A silver sickle infused with celestial bronze on the edges. Found within the forests outside Camp Half blood during one of his prophetic sleepwalks. Most likely left by his mother.
Personality: Eric is... eccentric to say the least. He is rather serene and selfless, often expressed by how he uses his ability. Being able to sense other's emotions, Eric uses this to find people who are in pain, anger, or sadness and offers them comfort without hesitation, judgement, or expectation of thanks. Despite this, he is often the subject of ridicule at camp and has difficulty making any friends. While it may look like he lacks any self-consciousnesses, Eric simply doesn't let his feelings show and as a result, has a hard time expressing any strong emotion whatsoever.
Biography: Born in Iowa, Eric was raised by his organic herb (and *cough* marijuana *cough*) selling father and fortune teller step mother. His family was constantly traveling, never staying in one place for too long. Every chance he had to make friends (not saying he actually made any) were interrupted by another sudden move halfway across the state. Like Eric, both his parents were equally weird in their own ways. His father was a hippy who was into everything natural while his stepmother was a strong believer in magic and psychic powers. Unknown by Eric, their families constant travelling was in fact a way to keep monsters from finding him and had completely succeeded. In fact, it wasn't until his first year at the camp that he saw his first monster.

During his stay at Camp Half-Blood, Eric has gotten a varied mix of opinions on him. Many tease him for his eccentric behaviour while others see him as a helpless fawn always in need of protection. However, you may find the occasional person who somewhat likes the boy, they just won't openly declare it around others.
