In 690, the Tang Dynasty came to an end when one woman, a former concubine of the previous emperor, took power for herself seeking to restore the ancient Zhou Dynasty. However, the powers at play within the Imperial Court itself began manuvering against her. While trying to support the growth of Buddhism, which also contained a prophecy that a woman emperor would wipe the world clean of disease and famine, a rival family rose from within her own court. The Tianzi family, a minor branch of the Tang family which had been formed when the Tang Dynasty over took the Sui Dynasty and a younger son of the first Tang Emperor married one of the princesses of the Sui Dynasty creating the Tianzi family.

Previously in a near exile governing the Western Provinces, the Tianzi family had been brought back to the Capital, with them dozens of Persian Servants who had fled from the Islamic Terror that had devastated their homeland. With them they brought the idea of the Cataphract, a heavy cavalry, which could prove devastating to opponents in mass formations.

The actual take over of power was quick. In the year 699, the Empress was disposed of in a coup by members of the Tang and Tianzi loyalist forces. With no living relatives of the previous Tang Emperor alive, the head of the Tianzi family was offered the crown. He chose a new naming method, one using his personal name, for the Emperors and became Emperor Jian (Tianzi Jian), in the year 699. He would not reign long as he died of illness in the year 702, giving his eldest son, Tianzi Sun, the chance to become Emperor Sun of the Tianzi Dynasty at the age of 20.

Well, I see no real fault, we just need to see what Japan thinks. He kinda had everything in Asia remain the same. I'm sure it'll be fine, and if not, we can have your first Random Event change it.

Japan has already stated earlier in the IC that the EU dynasty exists. You can probably have a revolution at around 703 if we are going by the IC timeline. Really as long as the Japanese friendly relations stay the same and gunpowder is still invented in China around the 900 AD mark I'm okay.

Quick little history.

Three Korean kingdoms before 660, Baekje, Goguryeo, and Silla.

Baekje-Japan alliance.

660 Silla invades Baekje and forever hates Japan.

668 Silla invades Goguryeo takes it over, and splits land between them and the Chinese.

Japan basically just watching it all happening, while hating Silla for taking over their ally.

698 The remnants of Goguryeo fights and secures their independence from China, and rename themselves Balhae.
