Noheresville

Marilyn Clark
Clark Residence
September 3rd, 2017

It was a rather quiet day in the sole Cul de Sac of Noheresville. Trees were swaying, birds were chirping, the Robinsons were currently screaming at one another. This was not typical screaming however, an odd cathartic measure they took was to have whatever arguments they had with one another by inhaling helium. Marilyn couldn't help but notice that the town didn't have any marriage counselors.

Shaking her head she continued to sip her coffee. Anna -her sweet little daughter- wasn't up, and she made sure not to wake Tamara when getting out of bed. It was a Sunday after all, and the only reason she was up was because of her eight year stint as a Navy Corpsman before she pretty much ate an IED. She was still dealing with that issue, mentally that was. The gentle and mechanical whir of her right arm bringing the cup to her mouth slightly echoed through the kitchen. she looked at the grey and black prosthetic she wore. A medical miracle in all honesty, hand was full articulation, even though it was a slight bit slower than a human arm. She was greatful for it, and it let her live normally, but there were times it was a bit clumsy. At least it was waterproof.

Regardless of her physical state, she returned to simply stareing out the window, at the new lawn they had, and the Cul de Sac's bulb. The old guy across the street, one Jacob Klein, son of Dorothy Klein, chopped away at his lawn with an electric push mower. A cap on his head emblazoned with 'Vietnam Veteran'. They had a number of things alike, they also had a damn good respect for one another. He gave a wave, and Marilyn replied in kind with her sole biological arm. At the head of the bulb, a suited man stepped in to a sedan and drove off. Highschool principal, Anthony Cross, apathetic as all hell, but smart, had common sense, knew when he should be apathetic and when he should try to be a bit caring. At least he wasn't a complete asshat.

Yeah. So far, there was nothing to say that moving to the sleepy fishing town was a bad idea. At least within the first week, God knows someone could throw a curve ball or two in the coming days, but until then, they would keep unpacking.

Road leading to Noheresville
September 3rd, 2017

Driving on a road leading to Noheresville, in a black sedan using his FBI detective outfit was Eugene Hoffman. Eugene came to Noheresville after discovering GPS coordinates at a crime scene back at Creston, Iowa where the killer, called the Sticker Killer by Eugene, killed their latest victim in a random method of being sawed in half manually with a simple saw. The primary modus operandi was varied, but the signature was of an eyeball sticker that was put on the victim by the killer. Eugene passed by the typical "Welcome to Noheresville" sign as he started to see the town ahead of him.

In front of him driving around town, he saw a small building that had the words "Noheresville Police Precinct" on the front of the building. That was his first stop. Eugene parked the car in front of the building and opened his car door.

"God fucking damnit" I whispered to myself as the sun beamed through a gap between the frame and the tin foil I had set up across all the windows in my room. I got up and molded the foil to cover the gap, I then sat on this edge of my shitty futon. My room was spars, just the futon and a nightstand where all that made up the room. On the nightstand where a few empty glass bottles of verifiable fonts and forms from a clear bottles with labels of hard liquor and brown beer bottles, these glasses surrounded a large plastic bottle of shitty vodka.

On the floor were several crushed and crumpled cans of cheap beer, Natural Lite. It was awful, but then again it wasn't like I was doing this for the taste. I got up from my futon and walked through the layer of aluminum cans that covered my rooms floor. I opened the door and into the narrow hallway that led to the rest of my small house. It wasn't massively impressive of a house, two bed one bath with a kitchen and living area.

I looked outside from the window in the living area which brought in enough natural light to brighten up the whole of the area. I just needed something to wake me, the light burnt through my eyes and help pull me out of the grave that was my groggy state. I closed the blinds which covered the sight of the viberent Cul de Sac. I pulled myself back into dark interior of my home. I felt alone, the first feeling I had of this kind in awhile, well I figured I always felt alone. I stayed in my home without anyone here and even on the boat I never truly let people around me, I simply shut myself into my quarter area. But maybe it be nice to get out, maybe it would be the best way to get over this feeling. I didn't have enough money to buy the amount of alcohol I'd need to get over it that way, so why not try another way?

Monica stood outside her cabin looking at the message with annoyance for a while before sitting on the steps. She sat the axe next to her as her expression changed to sadness. She chuckled as a grin came upon her face.

I'll meet you in the pick up.

With that she stood and picked up the axe as she made her way to the 1953 Chevy that came with the place, and looked over at the wood shed near by. She shook her head as she put the Axe down in the passenger seat and began the task of cranking 'The Chev' which coughed to life.

The road to the Cul de Sac wasn't too out of the way and the distance was about as much as she travels to sell her wood. The trees would give way to white houses and open lawns before reaching the Cul de Sac.

Dot's Diner will do.

September 3rd, 2017

It was a very morning day for Stella. She seemed to be bored whenever she spent time inside her house in Noheresville, so she ended up spending times in the precinct. At least she could chat here, or doing administration jobs, or things. So far, files in the precinct revealed nothing but very few of the news. Gigantic creature, huh? Could be bigfoot, or skunk ape. Then again, it could be even long-lost relatives to humans. All those scientific terms made her realized how deep the picture and the possible theories.

But asking for assistance seems to be bit far. After all, she hasn't been quite close enough with the rest of the officers in the precinct, although to be fair, they did realized her beauty, though she's older and still single and have yet to married, giving her quite an attentions from the single men. From police officers to even civil officers, and businessmen. She rolled her eyes, though she thought about marriage and relationships and kids, sometimes. She probably want to settles in after a while.

Maybe 2 more years first.

Eugene saw a police officer who looked older than him at the door who said "Hello, there". She was an average build with black hair, but nevertheless, he showed his badge. "Detective Eugene Hoffman from the FBI. I wish to speak your sheriff or chief. I'm here to investigate a possible serial killer living here." The town seemed normal, though it's a typical small town in the middle of nowhere. "Maybe the reason why it's called Noheresville." Eugene thought.

FBI? Why an FBI agent is here? In this small and totally normal town? Perhaps something, or someone, was chased and ended up here. "Officer Stella Walker, Noheresville Police Precinct, welcome to Noheresville," with a smile on her face. Must be welcoming, perhaps he has the potential as a good ally in this town. "Our chief is currently in the hospital but you can talk to his deputy, his name is Jason Martinez. Officer Jason Martinez, he's at the break room."

"By the way, why you come to this idyllic town with no sort of...strange things?" She inquired to the detective, to determines his real thoughts. If his thoughts are the same with hers, they have the same intuitions, then.

"Well, Officer Stella Walker. I believe due to the small town nature. Crime should be non-existent."

Eugene raised an eyebrow at the term of strange things. "Strange things. The killer I'm investigating may have his strange things." Eugene said to Officer Stella Walker as they both walked into the precinct to the break room.

"Crime is existent, though in what considering in Quebec or Montreal as very minor crime, in here, it's a very big one," she said with a chuckle. "Sorry, I'm a Canadian, so I'm referring to the crimes in Canada than here in America," she continued. They both entered the break room, where apart from another civilian staff reading newspaper, Officer Jason is watching TV.

"Killer? You may find our people here very friendly, but look out on your backs. This town is not what it seems," she said in the end. "Well, I'll be outside, back to my desk. Call if you need a guide tour in this town," she said in the end again. A nice possible ally, perhaps.

Jason was busy watching the nation's goings on on CNN. An old skeleton was unearthed on Alaska, seemed to be rather mystical, old Nazi memorabilia was unearthed in a long abandoned and collapsed construct in Argentina, etcetera, etcetera, the world was all fucked up like usual.

The voice of Stella, the Quebecois with a bit of broken English echoed across the break room, along with an unidentified voice. Likely some nutter who 'needed help'.

Jason turned to said man who addressed him. A killer... Well shit he could name six of them who lived in town already, "You're gonna have to be more specific than that detective, because I know six people who could qualify as a killer, and all of them retired a while ago." he stood from the couch, "That being said, I doubt it was any of them." shaking his head, he continued, "FBI forwarded a snippet of the file on 'em, 'Sticker Killer' right? Well, haven't had a sticker related incident yet, though the chief went down a few weeks ago due to a bear.. or something. Weird shit in these woods, I swear. We just need a little bit more of a lead than 'He puts stickers on his kills'."

"I need to know if there has been any suspicious tourists or visitors in Noheresville. The killer is mobile, as their victims were found in different places around the United States. The modus operandi is varied as the victim were not related with one another and the method of killing were all different. It's all about the eyeball stickers found at the scenes. The crime lab picked up no fingerprints or DNA from the crime scenes, meaning this killer has knowledge in forensic science. No profile has been made on the killer, yet. The reason for the sticker is unknown. It could be simply a killer seeking attention from the media." Eugene addressed Jason who got out an tablet. Eugene turned it on and swiped something on it.

"Now the reason I'm here is because at the latest crime scene, a note that only listed GPS coordinates was found next to the victim with an eyeball sticker." Eugene showed Jason the tablet which showed the note in question. "The killer or the victim made this note for a reason. I need to know if there was any deaths between September 1st and today. The latest victim was found on the 1st. Also, in case none of the deaths were just natural. Tell me anyone that could possibly be a suspect."

So there were no other leads than 'he sticks stickers to dead people', and a set of coordinates, great. Jason's internal monologue was then joined by a list of the recent faces in town. There was however a new guy who did seem to fit the stereotypical serial killer bill.

He started towards his office, the FBI Detective following, "No deaths between the first and now, it's something we would've noticed by now given the town's size. I have a list of three suspects off the top of my head, two of which are very loose fitting bills. Marilyn Clark, recently moved here with her wife and kid, robotic arm which could explain the lack of fingerprints, Navy Corpsman with combat experience, so she knows forensics to a degree. Kurt Schayer, has family in town, came back to visit, got a pilot's license so he can get around the country quickly. And David Kowalski, real gnarly guy, all scarred up and the like, just walked into town yesterday, were it not for everyone's good nature here in town, and the fact he hasn't done anything too hostile I'm sure we would've tagged him with vagrancy, he usually hangs around near the diner... He's a big fellow so, don't get too intimidated."

Grabbing his duty belt he clipped it to his form, "I'll have someone look at those coordinates later, and have a few others grab Clark and Schayer, we're getting the resident hobo."

Not to mention that you could literally ask anyone on the street and they'd help you out."

Entering the main office group he scanned the crowd, "Lucy?"

A head popped up, "What is is boss?"

"I nedd a squad car out to Schayer's place, pick up their kid, Kurt, for questioning. And another out to the Clark residence to pick up Marilyn Clark, same deal."

The much younger girl gave a thumbs up and put her headset on.

Nodding, Jason made for the exit.

Kurt Schayer

A gentle breeze swept around Kurts ankles as he rounded the curve on the footpath en route back to the "Cul de sac". He hadn't seen the place in months, and before that longer, not since the mess that was last Thanksgiving. To summarise that night in the least melodramatic way possible; it was meant to be a big gathering for his family at their horse stable in Noheresville. What was supposed to be a joyous occasion turned into an unholy tidal wave of arguments and other unpleasantries. Some stemming from Kurt turning up with his Ecuadorian (ex) boyfriend, sparking remarks from his uncle and aunt on his father's side not to mention the other more conservative extended relatives, thus leaving his parents who couldn't care less in an awkward position. Either way that was well out of the way and now he was back to visit his immediate family, get over his break-up, relax and get back on track before heading back down south to LA and piloting once again.

He'd decided to take a morning walk around the town after an early breakfast to see if anything had changed in the time he had been absent. He had only arrived in the place where he grew up the night before after having flown (as a passenger though) from LA to Portland and then drove out to rural Oregon where Noheresville was situated. People always say cliché statements like "nothing ever changes", yet from what Kurt could make out about the streets and shops of his hometown, that was true. Continuing down the residential street towards his parents' house he was in no rush, taking time to admire the small details in peoples' lawns. When he was young, the family lived on a stable at the edge of the forest outside the town but when he was in his teens they moved to a house on the cul de sac, but his mother being a horse lover, insisted they keep the stable even if it wasn't used half as much anymore. His walk had been refreshing, a nice start to his trip that didn't really have a definite length. He could certainly take a break from flying for obscene amounts of hours to basically anywhere. Last week it had been Sydney and Honolulu, before that, Rio de Janeiro.

Not too much later he arrived back at the front door, and stepping inside and pulling off his white Vans though he vowed to head back outside to the sunshine in a few minutes. He loved the outdoors and treasured every moment there. Once he closed the door behind him his bare feet sunk into the surprisingly soft teal coloured rug. "Hello?", Kurt called out, walking into the dining room and then to the kitchen. Empty. They must have gone out...was the assumption he made based on the time displayed on the clock above the refrigerator. It was the time his mother usually went grocery shopping at this time and his father was more than likely gardening, given the weather. Not bothered, Kurt proceeded to get a glass of water and put his Mac on charge before he would go back out to head down to either the waterfront or the forest as those were the two locations he had not covered in the course of the morning. What he didn't realise however, was that he wouldn't get the chance to do so.

Adam Junipar was watering the bushes in front of his house when he took note of conversation springing up between numerous people. To him, it sounded like "blah, blah, blah, blah", and nothing else. He shrugged, and looked at Cotton, his cat, who was sitting on the lawn, giving everyone the evil eye.

"There's an awful lot of nutty people here, right, girl?" Junipar said, carrying the watering can over to the hose.

Cotton looked at him, then back at the street. Her ears pricked up when she spotted movement in the grass, and then pounced on it. A moment later, she walked up to Junipar with a chipmunk in her mouth.

"Oh, put that down, dear," Junipar replied, noting the chipmunk was still alive and squirming. "I'll be giving you fresh fish today, so, no need to go to the trouble with rodents." He stood up, placing the can on a plastic table and looking out at the street. Having made no attempt to make any friends, he wondered what the neighbors thought of him, but only for a few seconds. He picked up Cotton, and placed her in the house before grabbing his wallet and making his way to the store.

Eugene followed Jason as they went to the exit, as Eugene strike up more on the serial killer in question. "Since, you need me to come along, seeing David Kowalski could be dangerous, what your best advice on talking to him? The man could be a veteran, though it could explain the cause of death for the first victim. Guesses are is that you have an interrogation room for suspects. We might also have some pancakes at the diner or something, while we are at it. Think that's a good idea?"

Stella walked into the store, in a need of something. Of course, this "something" is actually 6 beers and chips. Not her favorites, but the dullness of small town's law enforcement duties. Her fellows asked her to do it, not part of sexism or because she's the new person here, but because well, she insisted on doing it.

There aren't many selections, since it is a small store. But then she saw someone came along. Mr. Junipar, said to be former military. American military, to be exact. Which branch, however, was unknown to her. "Good day, Mr. Junipar! What brings you along to the store on this shiny bright day?" she asked.

"Getting fish for the cat. That's all," Junipar replied, only giving a slight glance to the officer. "I'm not doing anything wrong, am I?" he asked, smiling. "I don't get out much, or at all, for that matter, but the amount of bullshit I hear among some of the residents here is enough to make me want to stay inside and avoid being trapped in a paranoid conversation with someone. 'Sticker serial killer'? Please, when I was a boy, we had men more terrifying than someone who puts stickers on corpses. Remember Dahmer? Bundy?"

"No, no, sir, nothing's wrong with that," Stella answered, casting him a look while doing so. "Sorry for that, or for the look, for the same matter," Stella continued, she looked on the kinds of chips the boys at the precinct want. Nothing's good, but unsure about that. But when Junipar said about Sticker serial killer, she froze. "How do you know about the serial killer? We have an FBI agent at the precinct asked the same thing. Serial killer, possibility of hiding in this little idyllic town with totally no strange thing at all. As far as I know, he hasn't talk to anyone, nor the boys at the precinct, that's for sure."

Stella walked around and approached Junipar, close but not close enough. "I'm sure we can talk about this at some...more private place? This is, after all, an investigation about a killer. Anything would be appreciated, sir."

"And I mean, anything."

"All I know is what the media's said," Junipar said. "I don't know where he is, what he looks like, or who he is. All I know is that he probably needs a bigger spanking than Saddam Hussein." He picked up his bags. "I'm not even sure what else to tell you at this point. If I knew more, I'd say something, but, I have nothing."

Moving around
September 3, 2017

Catalina shook her hands free of water, the lavender rubber gloves covering them easily dropping wetness to the side, finishing her duties for the day. Everything seemed to be good enough, the floors vacuumed, dishes cleaned, not that her employer payed that much attention. She did her job because it gave her something to do, but even then it often entailed all too much free time. Sometimes, it even felt like a scam. Her pay as a domestic worker was far too high for the amount of time she actually put into the job, but there was no point in debating it. She had no problem being payed well, and neither did her employer. Plain and simple, upon the most basic rules of economics, everyone came out happy in the scenario. It was an easy job, not requiring too much heavy labor, nor any extensive mental work. It was, rather, a work concerned with repetition, with doing much of the same on a regular basis, of doing light work over a long period of time. Indeed, Catalina felt ahead often, for she did not bore too easily, and there were always ways to break the tedium and humdrum of house work.

After closing the cabinet, with all the dishes put away, and all her cleaning supplies put away, she grabbed her jacket and donned it with a quick slip. Heading outside, it was time to pick up a little dinner for herself. She was done for the day, and likely would be for a few days more given that nothing unexpected happened, so there was no rush or standard for her. Dot's Diner, perhaps the only local restaurant, and home of the best quality the town had to offer, was the clear choice. Hopping into a cheap car, a little something she was given last year as a present from the man who could afford to give her much better, and began to drive.

As she drove a bit slowly down the quiet road, she turned on the radio to try to catch a song. Flicking through some static and some music, and settled on a nice station playing some slow, countryish music. She soon began to hum along, having not much else to do during the drive. Plus, humming was fun, why not join in when there is nobody around to stare or to judge? That was certainly one benefit of the small town: privacy was not hard to come by. After a few songs, generally a good way to determine distance, she pulled up nearby Dot's Diner, the fabled diner on which the entire town seemed to revolve, and parked. Grabbing her purse, filled with various goodies (including, of course, the money needed to dine there in the first place), she headed inside to go find some nice food.

"It didn't helped much, but it's an appreciated one," replied Stella. She curiously reminded herself about whether or not it's fine to asks people around about whatever information they know about in this case. "Thanks for your help, sir. Anyway, you have something to do after this shopping? I was wondering if you know someone in your house, or in your neighborhood, who knows a thing or two about this case."

"I don't have anything to do when I'm done here. Just going home. There's no one else in my house other than my cat, and I really don't know anyone here. I would suggest looking around in the wooded areas, though. I've seen several suspicious-looking people go in there, most recently . . . oh, what was it . . . a Chevrolet. A rather creepy-looking woman was driving it."
