Majority/Official Culture : Visigoth is the majority culture in Spain with minorities of Basques and the Cantabrians living in the northern areas. Down south in Morocco there is a majority of Visigoths with most of the Moors being pushed out during the invasion. But the remaining Moors are harshly persecuted and discriminated against by the population. Many Moors fled to the colonies to avoid persecution. In the colonies in South America it is a melting pot of cultures with Visigoths being in a majority with minorities from all over Europe coming here.

The purpose of the system was to supposedly benefit the entire country of Visigothica. A metaphor existed likening the King to a father, and all of the subjects of the Kingdom, to his children.

At the risk of being upstart, i have to say that isnt very fair as the reservations last 48 hours unless extended with good reason. My app will be finished tonight within the extension granted to me due to the fact i had to cover an extra shift at work. The reservation for new venice was set on 2/24/17 120 hours ago.

Territorial Claim : All lands reaching south to the border with the Aztek Ascendancy, East to Lake Michigan, and southeast to the border with URA. These lands are considered part of their territory, but are not as highly populated as their territorial core. Religiously, they believe they hold a spiritual claim to certain areas of RL Alberta and British Columbia.
Capital City : Kalispel (RL Kalipell, MT, but considerably larger, surrounding the northern end of Flathead Lake)

Government Ideology/Policies : VERY nationalist, with patriotism and religion intertwined. The Salish, (as all members of the federation are effectively called), believe that it is THEIR duty to protect holy lands from "the whiteskins". However, Europeans are welcome allies and trading partners, but cannot hold a claim to these lands as they do not recognize the "spirits" that occupy the land, and do not perform the proper rituals to protect the spirits.

Government Description : Think of Charles Dark Eagle as a Native American Pinochet: nationalist,and ruthless with his enemies. This is mirrored by the whole government. They are wary of outsiders, and while citizens are afforded a decent amount of social freedom, rebellion against the Federation's ideology is treated as treason.

Religious Description : The Tradition of The Land spirits is a state religion, adapted from Blackfoot tribal religion. It's main belief is that there are spirits in the Land, Air, and Water that are the ancestors of humanity. These spirits are satisfied by rituals performed yearly on the summer solstice (The Day of the High Sun). This day involves a 24 hour fast in which all the food that would be eaten in that time is buried for the spirits. All landowners are required to participate in this ritual. This religion also is used as propaganda for the Federation's nationalist nature.

Economic Ideologies : 50% geolibertarianism, 50% fascistic control economy.
Major Production : Agriculutre, fishing, mining, weapons manufacturing.
Economic Description : Agriculture, fishing, and hunting are under control of the government. Considered necessary for survival, these industries plus the healthcare industry are held publicly. In contrast, private business is allowed in all other industries, including mining, manufacturing, and service industries. There is no income tax, but, as in the concept of geolibertarianism, the government makes its money by charging fees for using natural resources.

Army Strength : Strong cavalry and infantry. Much more technologically advanced than the RL Natives were due to foreign military aid. All able bodied men over the age of 14 are members of the always standing army, and usually carry weapons even while doing their civilian jobs.
Army Weakness : The Federation's low population compared to its size makes its territory difficult to defend. In addition, while weapons manufacturing is becoming a legitimate industry, there is very little in terms of steel mining in the Federation, making the cost of building weapons much more expensive.
Naval Strength : Carried on from a long tradition of sea-faring among the tribes situated in the Pacific Northwest, the navy is small but proud.
Naval Weakness : Considering that it is 1870, the Federation has not gotten to the point of developing iron-clad ships. Also, the navy is not experienced in long sailing expeditions has the Federation has no overseas interests, so they are effectively more of a coast guard than a navy.
Further Military Description : The Army, battle-tested and requiring compulsory service, is dangerously good at what they do. Known for their swift cavalry, their form of guerilla warfare is swift and devastating, with a specialtiy of burning enemy cities to the ground. On the other hand, their navy is pretty terrible at attacking, but they do a good job defending Puget Sound and the coasts.

A charismatic, forward-thinking leader, he used his outstanding diplomatic abilities to create powerful alliances in Europe, that lead to centuries worth of technological progress for the Salish happening over the course of three decades.

History :
History until 1804 is the same.
In 1804, Merriweather Lewis and William Clark's westward expedition fails, slowing American westward expansion. Over the next eight years, encounters between Americans and Natives across North America become increasingly violent.
The War of 1812 between the British (Cambria?) and the Americans begins. The British arm the Blackfoot, Sioux, Flathead, Ute, Comanche and Shoshone tribes in an attempt to prevent the USA (URA?) from expanding into Britains claimed Columbia and Oregon territories. While the War of 1812 ends as it did in real life, Britain continues to arm the Natives as a barrier between their territory and the Americans. It was during this time that many Natives learned the English language.
Peaceful relations between the Natives and the British turn sour in 1841 when the British attempt to relocate a band of Salish from the Puyallup, Washington area and take their weapons. In what is known as the Puyallup Massacre, 500 Salish people were slaughtered by British forces, leading to a retaliation in which several tribes burned down a British fort near Boise, Idaho.
This marked the beginning of what would come to be known as the Second French and Indian War. The reason for its name, is because tribal elders from the Blackfoot tribe made contact with French fur traders who managed to get the word to the French monarchy that they were willing to trade massive gold reserves located near RL Bannock, MT for mercenaries and weapons during the war. This diplomatic negotiation lead to the League of Tribes, a precursor to the eventual Federation.
While the war was going very poorly for the Natives at first, the tides turned once they received weapons and reinforcements from the French. Under the training of some of France's best military officers, The Natives became skilled in modernized warfare, and picked up some European culture along the way. The first major victory of the war was when all 15 tribes of the league and the French put the city and fort of Victoria, BC under siege. The siege lasted 65 days, and lead to an eventual cease-fire. The line of demarcation was the 49th parallel, and no troops were allowed to cross it. The British broke these terms 5 months later, when a lost group of British soldiers fired upon Blackfoot Indians near Logan Pass in RL Glacier National Park. A major battle ensued with large casualties on both sides. The Treaty of Kalispel was signed by the British, offering the Natives all land south of the 49th Parallel, on the condition that the French military left and the land was never traded to the French. This happened in1945.
During the wartime, the Natives established their first cities out of the necessity of protecting women and children. This slowly brought their nomadic lifestyle to a close. The next 30 years have been relatively peaceful. A government to oversee all the tribes was founded by the Salish-Kootenai and Blackfoot tribes in late 1845, and three years later, all of the tribes within current territory signed the agreement to join. They gave the Federation its current name, The Federation of Northern Native Tribes, but their first name, the Blackfoot-Salish Federation stuck, especially with Europeans. War hero Charles Dark Eagle was chosen as the Grand Chief, the nations highest office, to serve until death.
The remaining time until 1870 has been spent trading with European and American nations and developing technologically. At some point in this time, they signed the Mason-Dixon treaty, preventing other North American nations from expanding into their territory.
