Yeah the Interplanetary War would be a cool setting, but like any other Halo setting it would suffer from a lack of canon factions, you'd basically just have the UEG/UNSC, the Frieden and the Koslovics, the rest would have to be player-made or we add some of our own lore.

I haven't started writing all the lore yet, but I do have an idea of separating the lore into three categories. Instead of a concrete 'Wikipedia' that others to give a definitive backstory, I want to use biased news articles, books, and reports from inside the world.

Alpha Centauri
Year: 2161

4.3 Light years. Travel Time: 7.8 Earth Years.

Tierra: Habitable Ecosystem. Fourth Planet. Earth-like planet. 1 Day= 3.24 Earth Days.

Barren Planets:
Shuǐxīng: Closest Planet to the Star, named after the Chinese name for Mercury. No atmosphere
Jīnxīng: Second Closest to the Star, named after the Chinese Name for Venus. No atmosphere
Марс: Third Closest planet to the Star, named after the Russian Name for Mars. Poisonous Atmosphere.

AC Gas Giant-I: Noted for Rich resourced planets.

Earth is fucked due to climate change and resource wars. Humanity runs for Alpha Centauri, whose main world is vaguely habitable. Mid-flight the captain of colony ship is murdered by an unknown assailant, and the mission splits in to factions on ideological lines. Factions colonize world named "Planet" adapting to the strange semi-sentient and hostile ecosystem and their own internal conflicts.
