The blonde witch starred at Rachel for a few moments, completely unblinking, with her usual bored looking expression. She was trying to glean the Griffindor's motivations for being nice to her

Does she have some sort of agenda? No, she's a Grifindor. They're not conniving enough for that. So this must be some sort of guilt she's experiencing.

"It'll be fine," she muttered, looking down at her feet before looking up to meet Rachel's eyes. "just a little accident is all."

Rachel slipped her hands into her robe pockets as Caitie finally made eye contact. While Rachel kept her expression unchanged, she managed to look back at the piercing eyes that seemed to gaze right through her head. A few moments of silence followed Caitie's response.

Well this managed to get as awkward as possible.

"All...right." Rachel said as she cleared her throat once everyone made it inside the classroom. She took her usual seat next to Adam and set her permission slip down on the desk. She crossed her arms and said to him in an obviously sarcastic tone.

"It sure is great having people hate me because my father married a muggle."

William Darkenstone

William sat down near James. He held the permission slip in his hands. After his trip to the kitchen the night before, he couldn't sleep. He was feeling a mixture of emotions, mostly negative ones. Because he couldn't sleep, he read more of Magick Moste Evile, each time he opened the book wondering what a Horcrux is. It must be something that can generate true power or can bring very beneficial results for the one who uses it.

But he could hardly concentrate on the book. After some time of trying to study, he had just put it down, thinking about a great deal of things, ranging from Henry's statements to hit time during the Christmas break and his parents. Once more he felt a mixture of envy, anger, sadness and frustration. He had become more convinced of the need to train and improve. Become more accustomed to the Dark Arts. Learn more about everything in the wizarding world.

Without realizing it, morning came and, after a swift breakfast, he had arrived at Gleen's classroom. After the professor 's arrival, he had placed the permission slip on the table. Gleen could orove to be extremely helpful in my endeavors. Or a great deal of trouble. I must tread carefully.

James Abbott

James noticed William sit down next to him as the Professor began to collect their permission slips. William was also clutching his signed paper. Gleen soon passed them and James handed his in, wondering just what they would be doing in the Forbidden Forest. Hopefully, something exciting. After all, things have gotten a bit dreary here, after Christmas Break ended and all.

James was also curious about what they were going to learn in today's lesson. Gleen had said that it would be an "informational" class, so perhaps he would spill some more details about their trip.

Gleen

Gleen collected all the permission slips, and for reasons unknown to anybody but him he replaced each of them with a small bag of sweets. One student got sherbert lemons, another got chocolate limes, they were entirely normal non-magical sweets in plastic bags. He looked a little surprised that everyone seemed to have permission slips apart from Marcus, for whom he quickly wrote one out for.
"Now almost all of your parents have consigned you to my care," he informed them, "Giving me absolutely no recourse but to sspect that they either do not know me or do not like you, we can get to business. First off, the forest is not forbidden. Students regularly go into it I don't know if their are rules about it I haven't checked but if their are their shouldn't be because it's perfectly safe. If you've been on a few of my field trips, obviously. Now...I will be putting you in actual and serious danger of grievous bodily injury or death in this event...if anyone ha a problem with that they are welcome to speak up and I'll take no notice. But at least you've had your voices heard. Does anybody have any questions, or are we ready to go?"

James Abbott

James looked up, confused, as Gleen took his permission slip and replaced it with a plump bag of sweets.

"Thank you, Professor," he managed to blurt out, looking inside the sack. It was filled with Muggle Jelly Babies, supposedly a popular confection within their world. James didn't particularly care for Muggle candies.

After collecting all of the slips Gleen returned to the front of the classroom, and with his usual erratic way of teaching began to inform them of the field trip. He told his students that by going with him into the Forbiden Forest they were subjecting themselves to possible injury, or even death. James' brow furrowed and he recoiled in surprise.
Death? Does the Headmistress know about this?

Still, another part of him was excited by this fresh prospect of mystery. James wasn't exactly sure about what was in the Forbidden Forest- but it had to be mystical.
Suddenly Gleen said that unless there were questions, they should get going. James' hand shot up.

"Sir, you mean to say that we're leaving now?"

Caitie

Caitie stood there for a few minutes as Rachel made her way over to her desk. When the other girl finished her trek, Caitie exhaled.

If you felt so bad about it you shouldn't have done it in the first place. They're all so hypocritical. Caitie, mechanically, made her way over to her desk and retrieved her permission slip and placed it on the table as Marcus leaned in.

"Hm? What is it Marcus?" She asked in hushed tones.

Marcus

Marcus didn't really know how to say this, so he just blurted it out, still smiling from Gleen's creation of a new permission slip. "I want to bring my brother back," he whispered.

Timothy

Raising his hand, he politely asked the professor "What...exactly are we facing here? If the Forest isn't "forbidden", how come there is "actual and serious danger of getting severely injured or killed"...? Even more so than usual?"

The nervousness once more returned to Timothy, as he began to worry about how quickly he could very much die in this forest.

Did I pack enough potions? Do we have to go in alone? Will I be able to survive on my own, or deal with the risk of getting someone killed...?

He tried to reassure himself that they were all first years. There were no Dark Lords or rogue Death Eaters...

At least not yet..., he thought grimly as he gushed some amidst the Slytherin crowd. Surely Glean is just joking...

Caitie

The blonde witch blinked a few eyes, her expression retaining its dead-fish eyed demeanour. One would almost believe that she didn't even hear what Marcus had just asked her.

Bring him back, after I helped Marcus kill him? Who does he think I am, Lord Voldemort?

"Marcus," she hissed quietly, "not only is that forbidden magic, but magic I might not posses. That isn't to say it's impossible. No, I think it is very possible, but it's only ever been done once, by You-Know-Who."

Marcus

"What on earth are you talking about?" Marcus asked. He didn't realise he would, but he was starting to get angry. His voice had turned into a low growl, his upper class english accent more pronounced in it as he stared directly into her face. "I mean, get a time turner and stop him from being killed. I don't care if it's forbidden...what are you, a n auror?"

Marcus

With lightning fast speed, Marcus had drawn his own wand and turned his head around to glare daggers at Henry. He looked angry, almost as if he was about to kill the other slytherin, and for a moment he wasn't sure he actually wasn't.
"Do you think I care?" he snapped. "We should make finding a time turner our number one priority...over anything. Fuck the time stream, this is far more important than a few fucking little paradoxes."

Andrew

Upon seeing the confrontation between the two Slytherins - Marcus and Henry - Andrew would get out of his seat and quickly walk over "Woah, woah, let's all calm down, yeah? No need to be waving wands like weapons, eh?" he'd say, putting his hands between the two, as if separating them.

Caitie

It's going to be one of those mornings, isn't? She sighed as her Housemates started arguing. Caitie turned to the pair, just as Andrew walked over to try and stop the fighting.

"Let's discuss this some other time, not right before bloody class starts." She turned her attention back to Gleen, and raised her hand.

"How long is this field trip, sir?"

William Darkenstone

William was just sitting, motionless and with a dead expression on his face, staring forward when he overheard whispers from the crowd of Slytherins. He was sitting near their group and understood that they were talking about something serious. Trying to hear more about the topic, he didn't manage to grasp the subject which they were talking about. However, when things started to heat up he approached the students present.

"Let's all calm down. Nobody would want to get hurt inside a classroom nor trigger an unfortunate incident."

Turning to Marcus, since he had heard what he had said to Henry when turning his wand towards him, he swiftly added.
"Of course, I am curious why someone would seek such a forbidden magical item. Surely a time turner can't be the only solution to your problems."

Gleen

Gleen listened to all of the questions, before standing still, a look of deep concentration on his lined face, before proceeding to utter a thoughtful "Hmmmmmmm."

"We are leaving in approximately 15 minutes, once necisary arrangements such as my breakfast no longer making me feel stuffed are put into place, and the luggage has packed itself." He showed everyone a small postal jiffy bag, which things from all around the room were disappearing into it.
"Down!" he roared as a large trunk barrelled close to everyone's heads, before disappearing into the bag, and he sighed in relief seing no one hurt. "Anyway. As for what we're doing, the answer is written on the door, my friends. Defence against the dark arts. Very dark arts indeed. I have spent the Christmas break travelling the world and filling the forest with dark and generally unpleasant animals. The centaurs now hate me, however we'll be happy because we get to defend ourselves from them." He smiled dramaticly "Which will be so fun. As for how long we're going for, that all depends on the magical creatures, and how long they stay 'not dead' for. You will compete to devise the best way to clear the forest of pests, in your teams of course, and you will sleep in four-person tents. You can choose that, I don't care who you sleep with so long as I've brought enough tents which I think I have. Someone will be luggage-carrier. It is their responsibility to ensure that the luggage does not get lost, eaten, or exploded. Should the luggage-carrier have to go to meet his or her maker, or indeed madame pomfrey, another luggage-carrier will be chosen from the ranks of surviving students. If all students are put out of action, I shall be luggage carrier. If I am put out of action, the luggage will be left in the forest. Either way, the luggage is prioritised, ladies and gentlemen." He clapped his hands over his head dramatically. "You cannot go without luggage. Each team nominate a leader. Now."

Defense Against the Dark Arts class
Cyrus MacGregor

Oh. Cyrus blinked and tried to wrap his mind around what the professor just said. "The Forbidden Forest, a rather large place, is now well-stocked with dangerous creatures that we're supposed to kill." This was a first-year assignment? What did they do in year two (that is, if they made it)? Slay a dragon? Try to break into Gringott's?

That said, Cyrus knew he didn't want to be the leader for his group. No thanks. The leader goes first. First to meet a drooling grue in the dark. "Go for it, whoever wants to. I'll be somewhere in the middle."

However, with his charmed rucksack that could compartmentalize and carry many heavy things as light as a feather, he might be just the guy to be the luggage person. "My bag's already ready. I could do that."

Looking around at the others in his group from the outside, mostly Ravenclaws and Slytherins, they being in their friend groups and himself alone, he spoke and said, "Er... I'll take care of the luggage, if no one else wants it."

Andrew

Upon hearing the teams being called out, Andrew shuffled over to his own team. A daring raid into the forest? He couldn't say he entirely liked the idea, he'd much prefer to stay inside. Where it was safe. But, if someone got hurt - God forbid, of course - he could practise his skills in medicine? His skills with Protego would also come in handy. However, the pairings weren't exactly ideal. It seemed Rachel and Caitie did not really like each other much.

Speaking aloud, Andy would say "I'm not really much of a leader - does anybody specifically want to do it?" he'd ask, looking around at the group.

Timothy

Rolling up his sleeves and hoisting the luggage, he shook at it curiously as if to discern its contents. Once done, he turned to the rest of his newfound group, and lifted up a peace/V for Victory/two sign to discern who is who. "All right, who here watches Bear Grylls? Or knows where we're going?"

Henry gave a look to Marcus saying, "We'll pick this up later" and straightened out his robes. Pushing his hair back, Henry stepped in front of his team and said "Proefessor Gleen, I'll lead on this side, if any of you don't have a problem with that." Flashing a grin back to his team, Henry's gang began chanting his name, and even a few Ravenclaws began to join in. Henry looked back to Gleen, ego showing clearly.

Caitie

As Gleen put them into groups, Caitie sighed.

Of course I'd be placed in this type of group, she thought as she looked over to Marcus' and Henry's group.

I suppose it could be worse. I could have been placed in a group with Avery like them, she thought with a smile as she brushed some hair out of her face.

Regardless, with Cyrus as the luggage boy I'll have to step up as leader, or risk having some buffoon take control--and being left for dead in the Forbidden Forest is not my idea of a good time

"I'll served as the leader, if no one wants to," Caitie said in her usual bored and icy tone.

Rachel Ackerley

Rachel realized now why everyone had to pack a bit of their stuff for the trip. A trip into a Forbidden Forest surrounded by things that want to kill you? Judging by her luck so far when it came to not getting hurt, she wasn't looking TOO forward to it. At this point, she was glad she had brought her broom as well. She waited then for Gleen to announce the groups, and stood up along with everyone else when they all broke off to join them.

Well, this is a nice bit of...

Rachel scanned over the members of her group: Cyrus and Mary-Audrey, Ravenclaws. Caitie, Slytherin. Andrew, Hufflepuff. Herself and Lauren, Gryffindors. More than likely the most diverse of the four that were called.

...everything? At least Andrew will be a big help when I inevitably get the bollocks knocked out of me on this suicide assignment. Whether that's from some weird monstrosity...or Caitie, I'll have to wait and see. Either I'm overly paranoid, or something's off about her...

She walked over to the group already taking positions for carrying the luggage and the leader, her hands in her robe pockets. Her and most of the group's eyes fell on Caitie as she volunteered as leader. Rachel kept silent through most of it though. When a lapse in the prep talk came about she'd speak out finally. "Let's all try to work together on this one, yes? I'm sure whatever's out there doesn't care one bit which House you're in or your blood status. We can go back to wanting each other dead after it's over." She somewhat lowered her voice to keep out of Gleen's earshot. "Plus...if we overcome whatever this maniac is taking us outside to see, all of us can probably get a boat load of house points on this one." She cracked a reassuring smile.

"Thank you Caitie, Henry," Gleen said, as two people volunteered as team leaders. He was, no doubt, supposed to let them discuss and see if someone else wanted to take up the role, however he was experienced with children and he knew that if he did that they'd be arguing for hours, leaving them even more behind schedule. He waited for someone else to step forward from the other group.
"You've got about thirty seconds before I pick someone," he informed them, raising a hand.

William Darkenstone

William looked at Gleen with a cold expression on his face as he explained what they would be doing in the Forest. He realized why they had to bring their luggage, which he had done. Essentials were there, at least on his behalf. He looked around at his team with an equally cold expression, as he was glad that he trained during the Christmas break and had memorized some spells. Seeing as the other teams had already chosen a team leader and Gleen informed that he would choose in random if someone didn't step up, William raised his hand, at first a bit hesitantly.

"I can be team leader. Since no one else seems to volunteer. However, I do have a question, professor. What kind of limits are there to our actions inside the forest? And, we will have access to our luggage, correct? " he said, addressing at first his teammates and next, the professor.

Gleen

"Ah...William, good," Gleen smiled. "I'm sorry, I'm unsure what you mean by limits to your actions. I'd prefer it if you didn't wander off on your own too much, though I can't exactly stop you, and I'd prefer it if you didn't kill one another though again I can't really stop you. Oh and yes, you will have access to your luggage, the luggage Cyrus is now carrying is a mixture of things. Our camping equipment, things for emergencies like broomsticks, food kept fresh, spare clothes should anybody need them, potions, healing supplies, books, nets, spare wands should we get really in the shit, a moderately large Christmas cake, a portable radio, some games to pass the cold and lonely nights, instant fiz powder, nets, defencive equipment, fashionable shoes, my personal sweets collection, plenty of things really. But if you've brought anything of your own, you can keep it with you though I don't have many more in the way of enchanted containers."
