There are several factors that would doom any effort of political unification. Nationalist fervor is too great, development levels are very different among the hypothetical members, and several nations have civil societies still too immature to resist the foreseeable stresses of integration.

I think that it would be a mess. It would be really hard to collaborate, and I do not know if the stronger nations like Brazil or Argentina would be willing to help the weaker nations economically. Every country has different priorities and resources. I don't know if they could be as powerful as the United States.

Agreed. If this panamericanism was even possible, it would take decades. And when it did, the range of economic, social, and cultural differences would be a nightmare to deal with.

Both of those relied on conquest for their formation rather than agreement from all the different countries/ethnicity/etc. North Africa especially works well, completely foreign Empires holding and ruling North Africa for centuries isn't uncommon, and they have pretty easy sway up through northern Sudan (former Egypt), while Chad is a nothing.

But I'm not going to get any farther into this than that, just for the sake of peace
