Personality: Ed is a very strange person. In the way of his cynical, pessimistic, sarcastic, mocking attitude that has made him not the most pleasant individual. His mockery and sardonic sense of humor penetrate into anything he does, and his mouth is possibly the most recognizable thing about him. These mockery and skewed insults also extend to himself, as he has a tendency to insult, mock, and call himself various things, far beyond joking terms like "I'm an idiot" or "Whoops, stupid me.", sometimes going as far as to call himself a waste of life or deadbeat drunkard.

However, the part that makes him so socially estranged and very hated is his negative attitude to basically anything. He always examines every tiny flaw in every single thing, and often has this cynical, hated, black-tinted view of the world. He often has almost no sympathy or care towards others and their problems, as he just sees it as complaining and weak. In fact, he tends to have a negative view on pretty much everybody. There's still some good in him, as he has small doses of friendliness and an ability to listen inside him. But, those are very small doses and finding them is...tricky, to say the least.

When he was 10 he accidentally turned the pin the tail on the donkey poster, into a real donkey, causing quiet the stir at the birthdays party. Fortunately, it was only temporary, but the flare for transfiguration magic caught the attention of the quill and book, and when he turned 11 he received his invitation to Hogwarts. His first year he was sorted into his house, in his case the hat had trouble between Raven claw and Hufflepuff but eventually decided. He did well in his studies, particularly in his transfiguration classes, and the history of magic class. In the proceeding years he spent a year attending various institutions. Year 2 was spent in Beaxbatons, year 3 and 4 was spent in the Uagadou school of witchcraft and wizardry in Africa where he honed his magic talents in transfiguration further. While in Africa he learned how to perform wandless magic, and transform himself into beasts, with one of his favourites being an acromantula. In year 5 he returned to Hogwarts. During his 5th year he continued to do well in his classes, and fought in the battle at the end of the year, leaving a few enemies encased in webs for others to interrogate or finish off as required.

Merlin sat down on the red cushion of the Hogwarts express. Rain poured down on the window next to him, but through the soaked glass he could make out the platform. There were a few people standing upon it, but most had boarded already. He remembered the first time he tried to come to Hogwarts. How he had been perplexed at the thought of running full speed at a brick wall, and how that would help him enter a world of magic witches and wizards. A world of dreams? Maybe, but probably not of witches and wizards. That was nearly 6 years ago perhaps. A lot had happened since then. Brief Backstory:
Edward Wilson was born in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of a wizard who worked for the Scottish Ministry, and a muggle bartender of a local pub. Ed's early memories were...harsh ones. His mother was a gentle, kindred soul, but his father was...unpleasant. A womanizer, drinker, mean-spirited, abusive, every trait you could think of. His mother kept believing maybe she could change him for the better, but her efforts were just impossible. His father never laid a finger on Ed, but often verbally cussed at him when he was drunk and ready to swing. And swing he did, many a bruise was inflicted on his poor mother's worn back. The household was in shambles. Money was tighter than a noose on a man's neck, there was rarely food, it was all spent on daddy's drink. His mother started smoking, taking what little money was left away. The arguments and yelling kept increasing and increasing, the tension could be cut with a plastic knife. Ed's obvious intelligence was never noticed and it was all silenced by the internal turmoil.

One day, when Ed was 8, an argument about money reached a breaking point. Ed was out playing football with some friends, he never saw it. A chair was thrown, a kick was swung. And then....

Avada Kedavra, straight into his mother's heart.

Ed came home to find the house in ruins and his mother dead. Still sobbing, his father grabbed the child and ran away, and the two became fugitives. They spent their lives on the run for two years, riverbanks, fields, wooded areas, glens, swamps, the natural wilderness was their home, and the little magic tent they shared. His dad was rough, uncaring, he had other priorities. This went on for years, living off the land and fending and eating game for meals, finding shelter from the bitter winters and scorching summers. But the Auror's and the Muggle Police were good, and soon, they were found. His dad was arrested and promptly charged, and Ed was taken to foster care.

This one year alone was living hell. Bullies picked on him, a little scrawny boy, he was friendless, alone. He cried every day for his mother, his father, someone who had done so much wrong to him but he still cared for so much. It was around this time, the happy, optimistic boy Ed once was soon turned cold, negative, mocking, hating of the world and what it did to him. His spirit finally broke, and with it, magic came pouring out of the cracks. Burns on bullies, random clothes shrinking, things appearing out of nowhere accidentally. The caretakers soon realized it, and quickly enrolled him in one of the finest schools in Europe; Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Ed is in the sixth-year, but he hasn't really made much impact. He's always been one lurking in the shadows, not speaking much, nof friends, not doing much. Any battles that happened, trips in the forest, Quidditch matches, he was always just one other faceless marionette among the colorful cast of weirdos and crazies. But now, a new desire burns within him. To finally make his voice heard....

Is self-transfiguration ok? Or would that be to close to being an animagi? According to the wiki, it sounds like an advanced form of transfiguration magic taught to sixth years at Hogwarts (and I think sooner at the African school) that allows one to change a part of, or the whole of, their form into another form. They can probably do so at will with body gestures, rather than a wand if trained at the African school.
