Name: Augustin Charbonneau "Al-Faraj"

Gender: Male

Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

Appearance/Picture Augustin is an exceptionally tall, lean French-Algerian teenager. His hair is short, black, and curly, but his complexion is relatively light. His face is narrow and angular, and his features are still developing. It is not immediately apparent that Augustin is half-Algerian, though it is evident that he is at least noticably darker, with almost Mediterranean features.

Blood status: Half-Blood

House (future house): Hufflepuff

Patronus (Optional): Oxen

Views (Blood ideology, optional): Ostensibly bloodless, Augustin nonetheless harbours deep-rooted disdain for pureblood traditionalism. This is not to say that he believes in Muggle-born supremacy - he, in fact, despises muggle society and believes that, at least compared to the wizarding world, it is horrid and lacking in any sense of moral fabric. That being said, he largely admires muggle assumptions of individualism and freedom, elements of muggle culture that he has imported into his own eclectic worldview.

Fears: Augustin doesn't make his fears apparent, but he has many. Most significantly, Augustin fears the prospect of poverty - or more specifically, returning to it. Hailing from the Third Arrondissement of Marseilles, Augustin remembers most vividly that inexorable foreboding threat of starvation looming over his head - his very own proverbial sword of Damocles. His single mother, working paycheck to paycheck as a cleaning woman, could scarcely pay their expenses. Augustin has determined, in the wizarding world, there will be none of that. He will live comfortably. It is for this reason that he lives accordance to the rules set out by his grandparents.

Augustin also fears prejudice. Though racial prejudice is less of an issue in the wizarding world, he nonetheless cannot distance the norms of the wizarding world from that of the muggle world. This is why, despite being a half-blood, Augustin fundamentally agrees with Pureblood ideology in some respects - mostly regarding separation of humans and wizards. He does not believe muggle society has the potential or capacity to be just or fair. All said, Augustin is viscerally paranoid of being targetted based on basis of his ethnic identity, and refrains from introducing himself with his Arabic surname, preferring instead to use "Charbonneau." He also keeps his half-muggle identity a secret, simply keeping his history vague and invoking the name of his grandparents - notoriously wealthy French purebloods.

Likes and Dislikes: Augustin dislikes owls, viewing them also as aberrations in a sense. He also dislikes wearing robes. He hates pretentiousness and admires authenticity.

Personality: In a sense, one might say that Augustin likes freedom and dislikes authoritarian figures. \Augustin has a near-obsession with money and profiteering and is prone to embark on any number of entrepreneurial ventures, and has a fear of owls, never having been around them before entering Beauxbatons. His grasp of formalities and the niceties is also clumsy, and though he nominally understands the customs and traditions, he either does not grasp their significance, doesn't care about them, or a combination thereof.

His beliefs generally revolve around a general disdain for tradition, authority, and social order. This is not, to reiterate, to reflect any sort of anarchist or angsty worldview, but rather reflects his distrust for the police and gangs that emphasized social order in his hometown. He believed, instead, in personal relationships between people and does not believe that people should be bound by archaic notions of tradition or propriety. He eschews tradition as inherently quaint and backwards.

Augustin's humor generally invokes a disregard for all sanctity. As such, his idea of humor includes irreverence towards rules and conduct, resulting in an extremeley dark sense of humor that strikes some as extremeley troublesome. His action-oriented personality has also lent itself to inspiring various practical jokes and pranks over the years.

Brief Backstory: Augustin's mother, a young enchantress by the name of Charlotte, was raised in a proper pure-blood family. Yet, Charlotte grew increasingly restless throughout her school years and, on the eve of her graduation, she had gone missing. After conducting an extensive search of France, the French ministry concluded that she was simply nowhere to be found, and proclaimed her dead. Her parents grieved - she had been their only daughter.

In the meantime, Charlotte spent her days roaming Marseilles as a thief, using her magic to earn herself a living among the muggle world. Having totally eschewed wizarding society, she found herself utterly enthralled by muggle culture and lifestyle; it was breath-taking, really, how the muggles lived without magic. It was during this time that she encountered Karim Al-Faraj, a young Algerian immigrant. The two fell in love after a short exchange and by the third month of their liason, Charlotte found herself prgnant.

Karim left with another woman and never came back.

Charlotte, once a wealthy pure-blood witch, the heir to a vast pureblood estate and fortune, now lived in abject poverty on the streets, too ashamed and afraid to return home. She instead chose to bear it alone, and she raised her son alone. Her wand had been stolen by a pocket thief, and so she had not even that to rely upon.

Augustin lived a fairly ordinary and mundane life. Growing up in the small hostel where his mom worked as a cleaner, Augustin spent his childhood playing football and engaging in petty theft. He gained a reputation as a mad-skilled spinster, regurgitating his mothers' wizarding fairy-tales as his own elaborate epics. She kept her life-story to herself, and so Augustin had no understanding of his wizarding heritage. It was only around his 11th birthday that Augustin discovered he was a wizard when Le ministère de la magie français responded to a cal regarding the improper use of magic - Augustin had been using his innate magic to host a magic show.

Charlotte was forced to finally reconnect with her long estranged family as Augustin was introduced to his new-found relations and suddenly thrust into the new wizarding world. Excited to have a new grandson, Augustin's grandparents were nonetheless far from excited that he was fathered by a filthy muggle, and they vowed to "civilise" him and his habits. They resolved to send him to Beauxbatons, where he would recieve the finest education their money could buy.

After his first year, Augustin's grandparents opted to transfer him to Hogwarts after it turned out he was getting into regular fights. Augustin has been at Hogwarts for over a year now, having picked up a solid grasp of English and cultivated a sense of properness.

Well you can have Gleen stop her. i had her moving towards the Great Hall, but you can interpret that as her not leaving the room quite yet. So he can just call her back in
