Fractured Sol
Summary:
It was in the late 21st century that mankind made its first forays into the solar system. From the scorched rock of Mercury to the freezing ice of Pluto, humanity has made its claim and, for a time, things were good. Under the leadership of the United Earth Federation mankind entered a golden age. But it could not last. Dissent grew in the outer territories as many pro-Earth policies went into effect. Earth was hungry for resources and it was for the colonies to provide regardless of their own needs. Protests swept across the system. In response the UEF cracked down and soon a line was drawn in the sand. Tensions would finally break during the Saturn Incident and the loss of an orbital colony. The outer territories united under the banner of the Outer Planetary Alliance and would declare war against the UEF in a bid for independence from Earth rule. The resulting conflict would be devastating and many planets would suffer greatly in the coming years. The war, ultimately, was a stalemate as both the UEF and OPA collapsed from inner turmoils. The outer territories found their independence but at the cost of millions of lives. A little more than a century has passed since the final days of war and the system is still recovering. What does the future hold for the Sol System? Will a fractured Earth reclaim its lost glory, or will another take its place? Humanity is divided but only time will tell if these wounds will heal.
Overview:
This is a nation-based rp where the goal is to unite the system or to stay independent. The current year is 2242 and the system had recovered after a devastating war. The system lies divided with most colonies being independent and earth and mars are divided. You can be any body in the system even asteroids if you want too. Earth and Mars generally have higher populations then those on moons and asteroids. So moons can not have a higher pop then Earth nations or Mar colonies. You can not have colonies for your nation.
Technology:
You can be creative with the tech of your nation just keep in mind that it is 23rd century. The weapons are divided into two sections, energy(laser and plasma) and ballistic(gunpowder, rail and explosive). Ballistic weapons are cheaper and easier to maintain than energy weapons. Energy weapons can potentially cause a lot more damage but have several issues, such as cost, power consumption, etc. It takes 40 days to get from Earth to Pluto and 8 Hours to get from Earth to Mars. Only nations on Earth are allowed to have plasma weapons and one faction in the outer arm which will be the Advent. So nothing like terraforming whole planets and something like that.
