Adelle Dolores
The Forest – A Clearing

After the explosion occured, a boom had sounded through the air, and because of how incredibly loud it was, Adelle heard a ringing noise in her ear. She had a migraine eating at her temples and forehead. Groaning, she massaged them, feebly attempting to get up. Although the firewall protection (hehehe) that the desert-dweller had given her was strong, it eventually had no benefits for her.

She muttered a half-hearted word of appreciation, and considering that she has almost never thanked anyone, it was rather meaningful. “Thanks, you desert-dweller scumbag.” Complete with a weak ethnic slur of choice.

Speaking of fire, she was surprised that she did spontaneously combust on the spot, the remains of her brains and intestines scattered all over the floor, pools of blood surrounding them. She didn’t take that for granted, though, as she was extremely lucky.

Looking around, Adelle observed her surroundings, and noticed the cowardly kobolds running away. “I-I guess they’re gone, now...maybe they’re looking for r-reinforcements. We should probably get out of here.”

She had been stood on the edges of the forest for too long, maybe now was the perfect time to went in.....and it was true, since not long after she went in, bow on hands, there was a boom sounded on the air, and due to how incredibly loud it is, made it seems that huge battle just began or just ended, and not gonna be good, either way.

She saw two person, a couple, or partners, perhaps? She saw them and yet, bow on hands is aimed on them. Not for anything dangerous, but there's no trouble if she aiming them in order to keep herself safe in case they did something. The surroundings did got affected hard, and a lot, as well.

"You okay there?" she loudly asked the female one.

Ever hear tales of Ill-fated adventurers being suddenly attacked and eaten alive by one of the most fearsome creatures commonly encountered?
Their bodies are rarely found, and when they are all there is to see is a skeleton with pools of blood nearby.
These monsters are known for their natural weapons, their ability to stay quiet despite their huge size, a keen sense of hearing and sight...

and their silly name.

An owlbear jumped towards Vylkan.

Caught off guard of a sudden beast jumping upon them, "Look out!" Amethyst called as she dived but not before getting a taste of its claws. Her light armor protected her just enough to probably keep her from being stabbed clean through to her heart but enough to have a nasty scratch that'd surely leave a mark. Her trusted Steed Agro neighed and took off running. She'd catch him again later probably, hopefully. She'd lost him during thunderstorms before but not while being attacked by a monster. She pulled out her sword to defend herself while she glanced at the monster to get an eye what weak points she could possibly find on the beast. "By the Gods!"

Vylkan Grün

Payment for leading a lost girl back to Valos? Today turned out to be a better day than it seemed. Then again, that was only how it seemed. He heard a growling, then a rustling of leaves and feathers, making the huntsman stop in his tracks.

"Look out!" He called out to Amethyst, but after spending years in the woods, not even he was quick enough to outspeed the owlbear. He was in for another shock, however, to see that Amethyst survived the beast's assault.

"Send my regards to you blacksmith. Most armors don't fare well against the owlbear's talon" He said, standing by the young warrior's side while taing slow, cautious steps away from the beast. "Terrible creatures. I find owl's rather adorable. Bear's too, from a distance. But put the two together... not as adorable" Despite the terror that filled the air, Vylkan seemed rather calm. He has, after all, enountered many an owlbear in these forests, and killed some too.

Looking at his side, hee caught a glance of Amethyst's sword. "You shouldn't use that. You put a sword against an owlbear, the owlbear always wins. You do not want to get close" Reaching behind him, Vylkan pulled off of his back a wooden crossbow, a bolt already positioned.

"Fortunately, I have just the weapon for it" Staring down the bolt for just a moment, he fired the bolt, aiming for the beast's eye.
What is a sig? A miserable little pile of words! But enough talk!

Razius waved his hands and soon the remaining fires dissipated to the air, he looked at the charred remains of the forest, and felt regret for having causing this much damage to the forest. But even more he groaned has the pain came flooding back towards him, like a river over flooding a dam, and destroying it to ruins. It was amazing how the human body could force itself, to pull through impossible situations, but has his eyes looked at his bloodied scars and wounds that scattered his body, he knew that the battle wasn't over. He looked at Adelle and noticed her battle scars too, she was injured, her arm and fingers bent at disturbing angles and her eyes wet and puffy from the crying, still he was surprised and impressed somewhat by her fighting abilities especially when she combusted and killed those two kobolds.

Normally he would be taken aback by her prejudice but instead he smiled and chuckled a bit, this girl is truly insane he thought. After all that happened she had the nerve to call him a desert dwelling scumbag,he didn't know why but he found that amusing. "Don't mention it, the names Razius by the way, and given recent events I think it's appropriate you tell me your name has well"

"Anyways we can leave by Abbacus, and I'll take you back to your farm , your father must be worried sick, and I'm sure he would like to know his daughter was attacked by a bunch of feral kobolds".

He wiped the sweat and grime of his face, and stretched the knots in his back, but winched in pain he than whistled loudly, and suddenly Abbacus came rushing from the bushes and trees nearly knocking Razius to the ground and licked him excited that he was alive . After playing and wrestling with the horse a bit,Razius said "Good to see you too old friend, but let's hope this isn't the last time" He said, has he grabbed his supply bag and pulled out a single green cube of bami extract, after eating a bit of the bitter substance, he instantly felt better has his wounds began to improve. While not a miracle drug, it would quicken the healing process, and prevent infection from happening.

Then suddenly he grabbed his staff which became ablaze with fire when he heard footsteps coming from nearby, expecting another kobold, but stopped when he saw a young girl emerge from the bushes.

Owlbear near Vylkan and Amethyst

It stood still a small distance away, staring at the two with ruffled feathers, opening its beak to let out a loud cry.
The owlbear was trying to intimidate them. Scared humans were easier to kill than defensive humans, this was something the creature knew, so it tried to instill fear into them. Perhaps unsuccessfully, if the man's composure was any indication...

This creature was a Forest Owlbear. Less aggressive and territorial than a Cave one, but that didn't mean it wasn't dangerous, however.

It saw the crossbow and moved out of the way, but it wasn't fast enough to avoid it altogether. The bolt pierced the torso of the beast. This owlbear was now angry.
It ran towards Vylkan with the beak pointed right towards him.

Meanwhile, a small number of leaves fell down on Amethyst from a tree above.

Adelle Dolores
The Forest – A Clearing

And with the wave of a hand, the desert-dweller had dissipated the fires. Seething, Adelle had muttered under her breath, and had picked up her celurit, which was lifelessly and motionlessly sitting on the ground. She called shenanigans, especially after this man dismissed the pain as if he was nothing. He didn’t even heal it correctly. No, he didn’t relish the pain and feelings with his every being. If she knew him better, perhaps this man would be a gluttonous and greedy scumbag who can’t feel passion and pain, the correct way. But maybe, whispered a hopeful voice in her head, he was just an unusually-generous guy who actually had altruistic intentions.

Her fingers cracked and ached as they remained in their bent position, no attempt made to recorrect that. They seemed to be stuck in place. Adelle should probably return to a suitable Valos official to treat that. She relishes every feeling (pain and all) with all she’s got, but she is by no means a dunderhead.

It was true that Razius had generously offered to take her back to the non-existing farm that she lived in, but Adelle felt that he had less savory intentions. From years of experience, she had learned that everything came with a price, and because that now-missing cauldron was so expensive, there were no more savings to repay him with. Whoever he really was, the blatant display of power and recklessness shown that there was something more to him than she thought. Her cursed curiosity gave her an urge to inquire in a matter that she should have stayed out of. But even though she was born of fire, Adelle had a sliver of self-control and knew not to do such a foolish thing.

Carefully sipping an approximate tablespoon of a vial of emerald-green tonic, Adelle made a mildly disgusted face as the bitter and viscious liquid travelled down her throat. It was made with bami gelatin, water, and a variety of unpleasant-tasting herbs. Unfortunately, the agonizing pain was by no mean lessened, because if she had added the strong pain-relieving ingredients, the actual healing effect would be canceled out. Assuming that a healer helped to fix her arm, it would be quickly mended in three days. Otherwise, it would probably heal incorrectly, which would be unsuitable for her health.

A rustling noise was heard, and a young lady had approached the two. She seemed trustworthy. Perhaps Adelle had seen her around before. To spare the trouble of introducing herself twice, she just introduced herself to the both of them.

It was a minigame of chance that Adelle played, and she was dangerously enthusiastic and eager when doing so. Shrugging in an attempt to look suaver, she introduced herself in a James Bond-esque manner, even though she didn’t know who James Bond is. If James Bond was a person that she actually knew, she had confidence that he would be a slick and generally amazing person. However, she doesn’t know anything about a James Bond.

“Dolores. Adelle Dolores. And since my arm was mangled in a kobold attack,” she put mild emphasis on that part, “I believe it is a better idea to visit a healer, rather than a farm. It will save me much time and money, as the tonic I drank would cause my arm to heal incorrectly if it takes too long to actually treat my arm. You know? It quickens healing, but it might heal wrong.”

Her eyes were no longer puffy and tear-filled, by the way.

Carme let her hand fall from its overhang on her belt and extended it in greeting. The other woman wasn't from one of the other six villages, but she seemed trustworthy enough. Very few bandits and sellswords bothered to wax so poetic about bodies of water; although she had been staring rather fixedly.

"I suppose it is - but rushing water carries a drive all its own, wouldn't you say? I don't mean any kind of a thrill, just the feeling of being in motion, aware of yourself, being alive in the moment. Not that there's anything wrong with still waters running deep, to be sure. I'm Carme Kujeine, visiting from the east." She brushed her hair out of her face, straightening it out, and then tied it swiftly back. "And you are?"

A small cluster of birds flew past, startled by something deeper in the forest, and then the rumble of a far distant explosion reached them.

She could loan them coins, but there are few interests.

Vylkan Grün

Hitting an owlbear in the eye with a single bolt was a long shot– in reality, however, it was a rather short one. One has to wear the beast down, and strike the moment you see the slightest indication of a weakpoint. And Amethyst was... staring up into the sky. Vylkan was concerned for the young warrior.

The angry owlbear, however, took priority. The huntsman rolled out of the way, letting the beast charge right past him.

Perhaps if he can make it charge into a tree and get its beak stuck...

While he had the owlbear facing away from him, he loaded another bolt and fired it into the beast's back.

One look at Engelise told the story. She had zoned out during the conversation and had fallen asleep on the table, out for the count. One had to imagine how weird she must be. Be childish one moment and an absolute nightmarish character the next, the kind who'd butcher hapless Raiders, laughing maniacally. One train of thought people had about her that she was impulsive and violently vindictive, quick to anger and hard to appease. Everyone in the sector knew about the raiders been found impaled next to a carefully-put-up sign thanking people for noticing the new fence, along with a polite suggestion not to bother her. Not surprisingly, the real estate in the locality went downhill faster than a fattened boar.

"Great now it's coming back shit!" Razius winched in pain has he grabbed his abdomen which was the site of a gruesome scar from being struck by a particularly sharp rock from the attack. He felt foolish for being overconfident in his medicine he should've known better that the medicine would only quicken the process, and not act has a relief towards the pain, but what did he know? That merchant in Durquba had told him the bami cubes were the latest and greatest in medical advancement , of course one shouldn't trust a shady dealer when it comes to advertisement.

Razius looked at the recent arrival and felt silly ,this lady was completely harmless except for the bow she held and yet he grabbed his staff has if his life depended on it, by now he had put it away"Apologies for coming off that way I'm a little on edge from that recent kobold attack, the names Razius by the way"

"Anyways your right Adelle,I've heard some tales of severe deformities forming has a result of the body not being healed correctly,I think we should head towards the barracks,I have some coin to pay for the services,it shouldn't be too expensive since the medicine has already kick started the process".

He looked at the darkened sky and noticed the moon faintly glowing at a distance taking hold of the surrounding noises of the forest,it was strange somehow the forest had gotten even more eerie than before the kobold attack, has if the entire forest was holding it's breath, waiting for something sinister to happen. He wanted out,and he wanted out now,of course this fear was born from being in a weakened state, and while not wanting to show it he felt that something far worse than some kobolds were lurking in the shadows.

The Owlbear
Fighting Vylkan

The bolt of the arrow lodged itself into the beast's hide as the beak got stuck in the tree.
It quickly got itself out of the jam and again went back to attacking Vylkan.
It charged at him as fast as possible with the intent of slashing him into little pieces with his wazor sharp widdle claws.

The Crow
Above Amethyst

There he was in the branches.
One of the best bounty hunters in the past 12 years.
And for those 12 years The Crow moved through the areas surrounding Valos looking for the next criminal to jail. People rarely saw him fight in those dozen years. When they did, it was over quickly. His spells, however simple, were effective. All he needed was a paralysis spell on your leg and it was most likely over.
If he needed more, a calm spell would suffice. Then his conjured rapier found its way through your foot.
This bounty hunter also knew the forest well and how to navigate it easily and quietly.

The Crow put a finger to his mask, as if to tell Amethyst to stay quiet.
After that, he pointed to the Owlbear and then to a tree.

After a second the hunter gave a thumbs up and jumped to another branch towards the aforementioned tree.

Adelle Dolores
The Forest - A Clearing

Being a person such as herself, Adelle was aware that the exit of the forest was not too far away from here, of course. The important question, however, was where exactly the barracks were. A newcomer to this village, she had not quite navigated through the depths of this little town. She did not know the place very well.

So when this polite lady had mentioned the barracks, Adelle was relieved. She mustered up the most pleasant smile possible, which is difficult when her arm is mangled and she has several gashes on her leg. "Thank you for finding us here. I'm a bit of a directionally confused person, so could you please take me to the barracks, Miss...oh. It seems that I didn't get your name. And you are...?"

Although she didn't know who exactly this Razius fellow was, by the way, because he could be described by more than a few adjectives, he was likely someone important to her.

Haden Notely
Edge of the Forest

Near the edge of the Valos forest, Haden could be seen wandering around with only his sword and quiver full of arrows at his side. He was looking down at the ground, occasionally kneeling down to inspect the innards of a rotted log or look through a bush.

Haden had arrived near Valos the night before, but he had left his bow near the forest to get a head start on any bounty's the town had left for people to complete. His daily routine had strted out normal, get up early and begin the bounties. But when he arrived to where he thought he had put his bow, he only found dirt and worms. And for the last hours, he had been looking all along the forest border to in hopes to find his bow.

Looking through the third rotted log, Haden let out a long sigh of frustration, running a hand through his hair. Is it possible I left in the forest itself? Haden thought. He looked toward the forest, as if waiting for it to give him an answer. With each minute that had passed, it started to seem more likely.

He would have entered earlier, but the noises that he had heard, even an explosion, discouraged him greatly, even if he did have his sword. With a sigh, he got up from crouch, and continued his search.

"Damnit" he thought to himself. Deciding there was no longer a point in hiding his identity from the man, he slowly retracted his hand that was nearing the hilt of his sword. "I-I'm Pouli, but please, both of you must address me by my alias, Loras Kay. It would be dangerous if people started to learn that a Kallis was in town without guard," he said.

He contemplated the man's offer before hesistantly reaching for the elder man's hand and giving it a weak shake. "What did you say your name was and how did you know my father, Markus Kallias?"

"Why friend my name is Jacob. Jacob Tyrian that is. And your father, well, I didn't exactly know him per say. We met on the battlefield. I saw him in his final moments when he faced the enemies general. The man fought nobely but alas, it wasn't enough to save him." He took a sip from his ale and instantly regretted the decision. "Honestly, you'd think they would be familiar with the concept 'edible' here. Is it honestly so hard for this backwards town to have roasted lobster and a white wine reduction, Boudin Noir Aux Pommes, a side of summer truffles, and a bottle of the finest champagne in Penna? But I digress, anyway, I think it's time for the three of us to venture out into the big bad wilderness wouldn't you say?"

"I...I suppose we'll go together," he said somewhat hesitantly. "But this doesn't mean this arrangement is permanent," he quickly added in and he reflected on what Jacob just told him. 'However, you must both address me as my alias." He continued as he secured what little positions he had as he slung his pack over his shoulder. He extended his arm, signaling for one oft hem to take the lead.
The Quackers are coming...

The Forest

"We can all hitch a ride on Abbacus that'll be the quickest way”, he said has he got on Abbacus. Abbacus was a strong, powerful horse of the Darian Tempest breed, which originates from the Darian Republic, where they were normally used has transports for knights. Abbacus could certainly carry three people but would be slowed down a bit due to carrying more weight than usual. Still he figured a horse ride was the most logical and fastest option and prevent any unnecessary confrontations with monsters.

Vylkan Grün

Once again, Vylkan rolled out of the way, narrowly avoiding the beast's claws. Rolling was something you get used to doing when you encounter monsters like the owlbear on a daily basis. It was swift, agile, and reliable. Once he was back on his feet, he swa that that the beast rammed itself into a tree once more. Now was his chance. Drawing his sword, he was about to make the finishing strike until he caught sight of a familiar mask sitting in a branch.

"Ah. It's always a rarity to see you in the woods" He said in a conversational tone. "Are you here for the bounty, too? What am I kidding, you're a bounty hunter" His attention then returned to the owlbear. "Just a moment" With his shortsword in hand, Vylkan launched himself into the air and latched onto the beast's back. His left hand holding onto the owlbear's fur for dear life, his right plunged the sword into the back of the creature's neck.
What is a sig? A miserable little pile of words! But enough talk!
Have at you!

"How very strange this place" Amethyst thought to herself as much as she hated the way she was patronized earlier she was starting to think it might have been justified suddenly. She hardly knew these woods like this man did but she couldn't bring herself to return to the convent even if it meant being with her dear adopted sister. "Another for a bounty, just how much of a bounty is on these men? Any more show it's going to get diluted fast."

The Crow
With Vylkan and Amethyst

Vylkan sometimes tried to converse with The Crow when they saw each other. Never successfully, of course. He (obviously) wasn't much of a conversationalist. The most Vylkan ever heard from him was probably the sound of his footsteps.
The Crow still thought that he was an ally, and they've gotten out of a few sticky situations together.

Noticing that the Owlbear was stuck in the tree he was heading for, the bounty hunter sped up as Grün stabbed the creature in the neck, putting it on its last leg.
It was about to get its beak out of the trunk and shake the man off its back until it felt another sword in its head.
The masked mercenary jumped off the tree, conjured a rapier, and stabbed it through its skull.
The beast let out a soft growl whilst it breathed its last.

The Crow stepped off of the now dead Owlbear, his rapier disappearing into thin air, and bowed to the pair.

Alexia Watson
The Forest

Alexia was happy enough for these two adventurers to agreed to her decision. Not exactly the best decision right now, but then again there aren't any much alternatives when you are hurt and needed a more advanced treatment. "It's fine, I'll lead the way. It's not far from here, but beware, though. I don't know when those kobolds gonna be here again, or even a worse threat than the kobolds."

"Mine's Alexia. Just call me Alexia, or Alex, if you want to."

"Pay some coins should be suffice for the service. I admit, they don't have the best, but they have what needed for wounds and treatments from anyone who tried the forest."

After thinking about what he just said, a image flashed in his head has Razius saw the three of them riding on Abbacus. It was hilarious, and silly he even saw Adelle falling off due to her mangled arm not being able to hold on.

"In fact perish what I just said it would probably be best if we walked,I already know the way to the barracks".He said has got off Abbacus. "Abbacus I need you to head east back to the town got it?"

Abbacus neighed in response and ran back towards the town.Razius the impatient fellow he was said "Well no point in standing here any longer lets get moving!" And he walked towards the town and into the shadows.

Alexia Watson
The Forest

"Sure, would be fun," said Alexia. She could lead them, but apparently Razius knows the direction. Then again, they couldn't get lost much since the barracks isn't that far, and they are certainly not a threat to them. She looked on Abbacus, and thoroughly curious about it. "Tell me, Razius," as they walked through the forest, "What is it with you and Abbacus? Are you two...partners, or companions?"

"I don't see a lot of things like that here, quite uncommon."
