handwavium info dump is handwavium. Characters not on BRII are free to settle back in, or to have dinner. We'll say that a few hours have passed.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

I'm good for spaghetti. Hans will be a bit stunned by the reduction in force and new policies, as well as the amount of dust coating all his stuff. At least he knows Chrys can use her skills to help him get things in their apartment tidy again. He can lament it while enjoying Brit's cooking... which is not grey mush slapped into a bowl.

Mr Devine and Miss Calani - did they ever go anywhere separately? - slouched against the wall and sat in the love seat to the wall's left, respectively.

"I believe it is quite fitting. No one was able to agree, and this is quite satisfactory as a method. Even Mr MB agreed to it, and it would of course please most pantheons. The Timelines flow forward, always."

The rabbit, indeed, looked strangely enthused to have a band of fur shaven from his midsection and duct-taped to the floating serving tray. All four paws, both ears, and the tufted tail waved in all possible combinations of directions. It was a dizzying sight for any who dared to look at the Rabbit Pendulum (patent pending). However...what exactly this all had to do with the proper movement of Time no one knew.

Upstairs, Chrys and Luce looked blankly at each other as inexplicable sensations that felt almost like pats of butter melting on them crept up and down their spines. The last time this had happened...is a story perhaps to be told on some other occasion.

No one knew, either, just why an assortment of items had appeared on the large round table at the center of the communal dining room. A handful of handmade alphabet cookies that were the work of the Brisbys. A black circle of crinkled-then-straightened construction paper, no doubt from Pippa-Michelle. A long, obsidian-colored sword with an arrow etched in white near the hilt. MB's own silver top hat, and its partner, Cuisine's bronzed chef hat. (The poor chef had taken time off to recover from having his neck muscles strained by wearing the heavy thing for hours on end every day.) All to represent various board games, some more obscure than others.

Such was game night at Demens Towers.

MB chuffed in disappointment as he began to slow in his arc. Left to right to left again, he passed over the cookies...the paper...the sword...the hats...the sword...the paper...the cookies...and stopped.

Except the cookies were no longer there, and the party erupted in talk. Mr Devine began barking out vulgarities. Miss Nivea looked shocked. Miss Giovenith narrowed her eyes at Mr MB. Mr MB simply kept chuffing. Miss Calani swiveled her gaze, apparently channeling the pendulum.

No one noticed the colors of their clothing (or fur) changing.

Cluedo was a popular game at Demens Towers.

    Miss Giovenith..............................Mrs White

"Calm, everyone, please." Colonel Mustard held up both hands. "Let us look at things logically - "

"It was Colonel Mustard," announced Mrs White, who'd somehow used artisty magic and the sword to trim the piece of construction paper into a monocle, a deerstalker hat and a -

"Is that a wand?" Mrs Peacock asked curiously.

"I don't smoke!" Mrs White said, and at the same time, She doesn't smoke! from Professor Plum. MissScarletandMrGreen shared a Look, deciding that perhaps they had better step up their game. One half of that equally fabulous partnership inclined her head to the other half.

"You might start," Mr Green grumbled, "so what makes you say that?"

"Yes, indeed," echoed Miss Scarlet, who seemed otherwise aloof and disinterested, despite the Look.

"In the stories it's always the one who tries to figure things out first!" Professor Plum chuffed in agreement.

"Well, let's start looking for clues!" from Mrs Peacock, who turned to Professor Plum. "Your hat is a hammerspace, right?"

...Yes....

"Can it take us to anywhere in the building?"

....No... Professor Plum looked strangely shifty at this, and Mrs White pounced. Figuratively, not literally. "IT WAS YOU!!!"

Professor Plum now looked affronted. Miss Scarlet breathed out, having just finished redoing her nail polish.

"I believe him, actually, those cookies seem a little too ordinary for his tastes. The only way he'd have tried eating them is if he had one of his usual drinks to go with it, which means he'd have gone to only one place in this Building."

Mr Green nodded curtly. "Dining room?"

"Dining room."

With that, the duo filed out and began making their way up the stairs, closely followed by Mrs Peacock who was talking a mile a minute about not understanding at first and then OH THE VENDING MACHINE! That makes sense now! Let's check it for pawprints!, and Mrs White, who was scrutinizing Mrs Peacock suspiciously and scribbling notes about how the one who was most enthusiastic about solving the case was usually the culprit.

Professor Plum and Colonel Mustard looked at each other.

"After you."

Now I live in a rough neighborhood, see? We got all sorts living under this infinitely tall roof. Leastways I think it goes on forever. I can't see, see? Can't move, either. But the others talk, and I pick up on things. A while back some new crew showed up. Guy who plays with needles. Insane genocidal metal man and his lizardwife. Or something. A hooker who's more trigger-happy than she lets on, and her main drag pal-for-life. Rough-looking monk dude and some huntress lady with a large mean-looking pet who almost never show up in the same place. All added to the pile of robes that likes to pull swords from nowhere and juggle them SOMEHOW, the walking heap of claws and fangs, the demon people.

And worst of all -

- the RABBIT.

Oh, people like to dismiss him as cute and fluffy and teleporty and tricksy and turn-colorsy. Psh. The monster EATS METAL. HOW ARE YOU ALL SO BLIND.

Ahem. Please ignore the bottle of chocolate milk that some lucky duck is going to scoop out of my slot. Which is probably going to be one of the two dames walking up here to me now. Hellooooo, French maid and -

"WHERE WERE YOU THE NIGHT OF - TODAY????"

You can stop shining that light at me now. I don't have eyes.

...

Seriously, this is getting old and it's not even thirty seconds gone.

...

Really? This is like a repeat of the time I tried to entertain that Japanese musician dame with a retelling of the entire story of Zero Wing translated back to her language. Nothing from Young Stoneface. Toughest crowd I ever saw, even more than King and Menchu. Well, if it didn't work the first time, maybe it'll -

"WHERE???????" followed by a poke from the beak of a paper crane. Okay, okay, lady!

私自身はおいしい目標を選ぶだろう。 flashes across my display panel.

White-haired white everything dame doesn't seem to notice. Same with Bright Blue Dame next to her. More pecking with White Everything's crane? Oh great, here come Guns'n'Roses. Except Guns is red and Roses is green. The hell? What the hell is this place? Just when you think you've seen everything...

ダスティー・カウボーイのセックス思考は、コッキング・レイズのメンバー以外のすべてのリエゾンにとって危険です。

There doesn't seem to be much happening still. Guns'n'Roses look like they're taking bets on how long before the Dames figure out I *am* actually responding to them. I wish I could join in.

And then it happens. No. No. You get the HELL AWAY FROM ME ACCURSED DAEMON. Though the Nazi dude next to him is all right.

Well, there's only one thing to do.

"What the fuck, you stupid ............................."

It figured that Mr Green would be the first up, already letting loose on all verbal cylinders. A few cans scattered this way and that as Professor Plum and Colonel Mustard stared at the vending machine, nonplussed. Mrs Peacock tried picking up one of the cans, while Mrs White hovered close to the ceiling on her paper crane.

"Ah!" Mrs Peacock gasped, dropping the can in her left hand in shock at the sudden extreme cold, and peering alternately at the can in her right and the vending machine's LCD. Professor Plum, stopped by very few things, immediately pounced on and opened it with a swift double click.

The room immediately filled with the scent of a swimming pool.

I take no responsibility for involuntary responses.

"We know our next stop then!"

"Please don't shout," Miss Scarlet winced, holding one of the liquid chlorine cans to a bump on her head.

A few questions regarding "magical items":
One of my characters is a licenced practitioner of magic. Said licence is naturally enchanted to be attuned to himself, teleport to him if stolen, and after a period of five years, inhibit his abilities to magic.

Hello, everyone. I'm sorry; summers seem to be rough for me. Maybe I have some sort of weird reverse SAD?On the bright side, I'm in therapy again; I think it's helping.

I'm having tech issues, to boot. Worst case scenario, I can use my tablet, but that would limit me to posting only on WiFi. That said, currently I can use the Internet via my phone; docs is the one for which I need WiFi.

I'm super sorry, squirrel, mole, civet...sun bear? I know I've held LC up, and withdrawn for the eightieth time, potentially worrying you. I plan to grit my teeth and squeeze out a Rmwtyliin plost today.

Calling it now: Either C!Gio or the vending machine ate the cookies to frame MB.
Come to the light side.  We have teamwork, waffles, popcorn, grape juice, and way too much ramen.

Unless one is a genealogist, therapist, geneticist, or FBI agent - who is acting within the scope of their job - to claim that anyone is wrong about their own identity is not merely absurd but also extremely rude.

Yes. I'd love to get Aegis on something but admit I'm not the most regular of posters anymore. What is it? Just dinner or an actual quest?
Also Swith did we still want to look for that tree?

Just a sort of "after dinner chill" since the HWE group has been gone for two years and may need time to process all that.

It's a shame we didn't do the tree earlier so Brit would have pasta. :p

Yep, I'm up for the tree quest. Let me get a few stories flowing (mainly Booze Run and Angels, since I'm covering for Cer there, too). Tree quest would be a nice weekday thing for me.

... what's the question(s)?

EDIT:  for Fvaar

I was just wondering if that would be considered a "kosher" magical item to have. As it would bend the rules of "thou shalt not teleport into anywhere at thy leisure" (as thief could really be booking it after pickpocketing him of said liscence), however I could turn it around and have it just be a real pain in the butt/semi-sentient enough to get itself out of trouble. Because a licence with a conscience could make for interesting shenanigans(?)

Second question: my character's magic is...a little headcannon-y, but reasonably underpowered. He has an "aura" around him for lack of a better term, and can channel nearby/latent energy for various attacks. The closer said energy/item he wants to manipulate is to his body, the more he can do with it/better he can manipulate. Example: can only slightly move a book from a mile away (maybe a few centimeters), however after a couple yard radius of himself, he can lift and move it around no problem. Downside is he has to know of said object's existence, and enough of an idea of what it's made of to safely and surely manipulate it.

Question the Third:
Another one of his trademark abilities is the use of "symbology"/runes. Basically a mix of Transmutation Circles from Fullmetal Alchemist plus Element Bending from Avatar. While he can in theory manipulate latent energy to make a fireball/burst of flame, it would be very uncontrolled and unpredictable, and more often than not just a bunch of embers being flung at someone's face. Harmful, but not necessarily helpful. By focusing on a rune/etching/waving his stick around in the air in a semi-complex pattern, said burst of embers now becomes a barrage of firebolts, a helpful candle-flame, or an impromptu welding tool. Said runes can be actually etched upon objects for a variety of effects, such as helpful traps, or helpful repairs. However, those runes are a bit more complicated, and require ingredients and time to make and maintain. He can throw down a smoke-bomb rune whilst running, he'd have to make the rune beforehand. This allows both my character to be out and about learning how to use his runes, and how to maintain his skills.

Finally: Questions directed to two people of different fandoms.

EDIT: On the subject of Magic
Danceria wrote:I was just wondering if that would be considered a "kosher" magical item to have.

MLP folks who RP as smol equines: What's your character's IC expiriences with Zebras? Or your own thoughts on the matter?
Star Wars folks: What era(s) are we using? (KOTOR, Clone Wars, Classic Movies/Episodes IV-VI, ect.)
: Would a roughly bedsheet sized cloth used for casting magical circles of ritualistic things be considered okay (said Crafter's Canvas is indestructible, (you try creating a fire-tornado ritual on your old comforter and see how it works out!) and machine washable. That's it.) and an essential encyclopedia of various spells/rituals/alchemical recipies needed for any Adept Arcanist (that also has the same properties as both the canvas and the licence (indestructible, can only be fully used by Zimitar the Zebra (resident murder-hobo cannot conjure the explosion of doom, and will find ways to make himself flatulent instead) and teleports back to bookshelf if lost or otherwise indisposed. This being the reason that Zimitar can remember all he learned (and record new stuff) without breaking his brain. It's not really much of a weapon, it's just a rather convenient tool, if Zimitar can access it.)

So, you're thinking about a support mage? Pretty creative use of things. The license is an idea, but I'm not quite sure about sentience.

Nature aura and the runes seem a little contradictory to me. Flow versus elaborate setup. *thinks* I'd like to see them both, actually; tons of opportunity for char dev. :D

I didn't have much problem setting up Mag's force powers, but he's also less of a support or heavy force user, more a monk style fighter like Yoda. Balancing out the force is a matter of what the character has specialized in and what he hasn't. The latter can be developed over time, and the former improved! Aside from that don't control people's characters as a rule of thumb (which the force can do)

Just don't overstep bounds and be an asshole about force powers, basically.

The runes are like circuits for lack of a better term, a better conduit for energy. For instance, he can manipulate the moisture in the air/make some friction and poof fireball/ice-shard. Granted, the better/more accurate the attack you want, the more he has to concentrate. Runes are sort of a bypass, plugging the innate magic into a circuit/pre-programmed thing to do something. Most of his "signature" attacks are already etched onto his staff, so he can conjure up a lightning bolt with relatively no worries.
