You said bolt-action. Sure, Lee-Enfield is sort of more with stripper clip (the clip with five bullets) and has the capacity of ten. And yes, it was WW1 military rifle...

Might not be a bad idea, i figure I need to work it out with the OPs first.

There are plenty of rifles, though. The bolt-action one. Lee-Enfield is British, Mosin is Soviet/Russia, Mauser is German, and Fusil Automatique is French but more to the lines of semi-auto rifle.

Guess the knowledge for my upcoming WW1 RP is important and relevant. :p :D

I know, I'm just thinking of terms of how it could be available, and the availability of ammo.

I would Love to have an SMLE, but if the Kurz rifle is closer and has ammo, im going to grab it.

Which reminds me, An one know of a likely spot to find one of these rifles? Ammo can be found elsewhere.

Antique shops, gun store. Rifles, bolt-action, or semi-auto ones, are still useful for civilian use, for hunts and target shooting rifles. Since it was designed less as a sharpshooter's weapon, top accuracy is hard to achieve. Also, some had been "sporterised" in order to make Lee-Enfield as more like a bolt-action sporting rifle, with scope fitted.

Keep in mind that any old bolt actions don't fire modern ammo. Finding .303 British, 8mm Mauser, 7.62x54r, or any other cartridge that isn't in service anymore will be beyond a pain in the ass.

Which is why I like the SMLE, because the MKIII and Mk IV were all re-chambered for 7.62 in the 50s, either as sniper rifles (MKIV) or as police rifles in India (MKIII*)

Hey, holy OPs, how would the idea of, along the way to Checkpoint Uniform, she finds a model shop along the way, about halfway, and its owned by this old Indian man who hung a working SMLE MkIII* on his wall as a family heirloom.

Pros:
Its an SMLE
Its an SMLE MKIII*
It would be chambered for 7.62 NATO with needed reinforcement for higher loading
It would be a rifle
It would have a rifle sling

Cons:
No ammo
Old and beat up
She would have to persuade him to let it go
She is already pretty shit with long guns, having no training, but that opens up possible interaction should she reach Echo-6
Would technically be dead weight since she has no ammo for it
Ammo would be scarce

Feel free to tell me no, but this also comes with some nice Character development as she ponders what the man says to her.
So apparently Cobalt has named me a Cyber terrorist, I honestly don't know to be Honored or offended.

Not to the US. US Had their own 7.62 rifles, and the civilian variants of the 7.62 Enfield weren't exported.

Which again, is...well, wrong.

It had more copies made then just about any other bolt action rifle, save the Nagant, and was (and still is) popular among Hunters and sportsmen in the US due to its reliability and re-chambering to 7.62. Granted that vast majority of them were actually re-chambered for .308 Winchester, but that's a functional mirror to 7.62.

Source of reasoning: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee%E2%80 ... 751mm_NATO

EDIT: At the bottom of the page, it discusses the rifle in civilian use across the world.

Permit me to observe that the page says 'Surplus rifles', not '7.62 Variants'. The amount of .303 rifles far outweighs the number of 7.62 rifles. Considering .303 variants were made in nearly every allied country, while the 7.62 variant was made as an accessory firearm in India, Australia, and UK, with existing rifles in military service being refitted in Canada. It wasn't intended to be a wholesale thing, especially since the Canadian army has since boxed them up and put them in storage somewhere to be forgotten.

.303 Variants are hard to find today, with all the resources we have, 7.62 variants are nigh impossible to find a seller for. Compared to in RP where you have to get so damn lucky enough to find one in a house of a collector, or you don't find one at all.

You can buy an Ishapore L2a1 off the internet for 3-500$.

All the Ishapore is a modified, home made MKIII* made for 7.62, and as stated, cheap enough to be sold for 300$, I even found a site http://www.gunbroker.com/item/615523134

Name: Callum Westwood
Nationality: English

Age/DOB: 22 years old - 23/05/1993

* Endless supply of alcohol
* Shemaugh and gloves

* Hunting knife
* Flares x9
* Water bottles
* Smirnoff
* Energy bars
* Binoculars
* Soap and toilet roll
* Water filter
* Map
* Phone and solar-portable-charger
* Baseball bat

Skills: Callum is extremely well-liked among his sizeable friendship group and is considered very charismatic and likeable. Callum is also a skilled mechanic and spent a summer working at his dads car dealership repairing cars. At his relatively young age of 25, Callum still finds time to go to the gym and stay in great shape, a testimony of his impressive strength and endurance.
Weakness: Whilst Callum doesn’t smoke or do drugs, he is known to be a heavy drinker, as it is a part of his job. Also, he is in a rather sticky spot in this apocalypse as he has never used a gun in his life apart from going clay pigeon shooting in his teen years. Callums friendly and helpful nature is easily taken advantage of by less reputable characters. After the death of his close friend and long-term girlfriend died in the riots, he is currently in mourning and lacks motivation or self-will, only worsening his drinking habits. The only real experience or knowledge he has that will help him survive in this situation is that he gained in the scouts when he was 12 so he is in a bit of a situation now.

Personality: Callum is very sociable and gets along with everyone he meets. He is an outgoing person but is also wary of the nature of strangers and stays cautious of their real intentions, a trait he has gained through experience alone. Although he is generally known by all as a good friend his rather conservative and “old-fashioned” views on gays and other people that aren’t like him have caused some rifts in his friendship group and may seem to prove problematic in the future.
Likes: Drinking, adventure and exhilarating experiences, sailing, being with friends and meeting new people, 60s and 70s music.
Dislikes: Introverts and loners, drugs, LQBTQ people, superiority complexes.
Fears: Spiders and insects, heights, being alone in the dark, the infected, death.

Bio: Callum was born in 1993 in the county of Essex in South-East England. Privately educated from birth and attending a London boarding school from age 13 to 16, Callum and his family always had high expectations of himself. After studying Business and Advertising at the Cambridge university until he was 20, he left with a degree in both courses. With these qualifications and his great charisma he landed a job at an advertising firm in Chicago and two years down the line he has garnered a great reputation for both bringing in and maintaining clients for the business. His best friend Finley, with whom he was very close, had come to visit him from England over the summer. Whilst this was regular procedure for Finley this trip to the states was anything but a holiday. After the first break out of the disease the riots followed soon after and as Finley, Callum and his girlfriend Imogen were coming back from a night out they were hit by a massive explosion from a house that shook the entire block. Finley fell to the ground cracking his head open and he died there on the street. Imogen too was badly wounded by the explosion and although Callum gave her medical attention he eventually found himself burying both Finley and Imogen in the back garden of his house. It was at this moment that Calum turned away from the world. He filled a bag with whatever he thought he might need to survive the next decade of torture and made off in truck heading into Bunker Hill forest, where he would set up camp in isolation for 3 weeks, only venturing into the city to pick up supplies and create a stockpile of valuable products, such as toilet roll, diesel, food, litre water bottles. One day he even made it to a pharmacy store, not much was left though but he still gathered plenty of useful medical supplies. Now coming out of the mourning phase Callum is looking to move shop and head to the Wallis tower deeper in the city, to find other survivors. Whilst encounters with infected have been minimal, he is always cautious and tries to avoid them at all costs.

RP Examples: Use my bio.

But still, finding an operable Lee-Enfield in 7.62x51mm in fucking Chicago of all places, would be like finding someone in South Africa who didn't know someone who had HIV or AIDS.

Well, we have a kick boxer, a con man, multiple software developers, a local politician, a movie theater usher, a mentally unstable janitor, and a deaf teenager, and they are all still alive. Trust me, your character won't be helpless without expert survival skills. Besides, the RP is designed to encourage people to get their characters into groups, which would be stronger.
