Species Name: ýe Vénu
General Appearance: The ýe Vénu are similar to the birds on Earth. They claim themselves that they were once birds granted sentience by the gods. They are short, no more than 4 and a half feet. They have stark white plumage. Their cheeks are slightly pinkish in colour They have a long head plumes, that dangle just above the ground similar to this bird. They have beaks similar to that of a hawk, large black eyes surrounded by spots and long tails. They have four-fingered claws on the tops of their wings - which are no longer suitable for long flight, but they can glide short distances with them. They lack pinkie fingers, but have opposable thumbs.
General Lifespan: Up to 245 years, perhaps longer.
History: They have inhabited é Silmárkon since the long before the dawn of men. They claim that they were but birds once, and the gods gave them sentience and granted them the world to rule as their kingdom from the paradise city of é Silmárkon. Their chosen Emperor, Yipin was declared Emperor of the World.
When the other races came, the ýe Vénu could not stand up to their soldiers, because they were a peaceful people more focused on learning, wealth and culture. They abandoned the many opulent and luxurious cities that they had built and withdrew to behind the impregnable walls of é Silmárkon where they have remained for thousands of years. é Silmárkon is all that remains of the Empire. The rest of the cities have been overgrown by forest, incorporated into other cities, or left to rot in ruin.
Culture: A weird mix of Asshai, Venice, Mnar of the Dreamlands and some original elements.
Strengths: Long-lived, intelligent, mimicry (like mocking birds, they can imitate human voices), can glide, great ability to create and innovative, ordered
Weaknesses: Little martial affinity, defective political system based on personal influence rather than law, extremely pampered, believe themselves to be invincible and completely superior to other races.
Magical Affinity: They are gifted in natural magics, like alchemy and innovation, but this is due to thousands of years of research. The clerical caste has some magic.
Other Information: Because of their different vocal chord structure, they do not speak like humans do, and it is nearly impossible for humans to speak their language - but they can imitate human sounds with surprising accuracy.

Founding History: When the Gods created the ýe Vénu they imbued within them an innate knowledge of the Gods. The first Emperor of the ýe Vénu codified the religion for future generations in the Divine Codex.

Pantheon: The chief god is The Starry One, who is associated with the sky, royalty, wealth and knowledge. There are many gods. They believe the Great Creator made the world.
Beliefs: The ýe Vénu believe themselves to be descended from the Gods of é Silmárkon (who are the only true gods, all the others are demons.) The Gods gave pieces of their souls to give the ýe Vénu sentience. In return, the ýe Vénu believe they must repay them by creating art - in the forms of song, dance, carving, painting, instrumental music, architecture and by acquiring wealth and prestige. They believe the gods are unknowable to the unrefined, and beyond comprehension for other races, like men - so they seek knowledge to understand the gods.
