I think their therapy dogs are trained not to lick people lol, so don't worry about that. XD

But I'm sure you've seen a golden retriever, they're like the second most popular breed of dog. Big, soft, lovable, golden, doesn't ring a bell?

Well, I mean, I've seen them, but I generally avoid dogs if possible. Especially large ones. Bad memories.

It's possible that my old neighbors may have had them, but that was a long time ago and I don't really remember it all that clearly. They might've been something else entirely.

I know they had a Labradoodle, but I only remember that because it makes me laugh.

Purebreds are mostly inbred, which has resulted in shorter average lifespans and higher risk of developing various forms of cancer for dogs.

Mutts are usually going to be healthier and live longer.

I can gauruntee that isn't true because I've had both. 2 dogs made it to 14, one a mutt, one a purebread black labrador, and another to 15, a pure cocker spaniel. I have a 12 year old chocolate lab, a five year old golden retriever who's probably going to outlive most other dogs because her heart beats a bit slower than usual and she's very small for a golden, and then a 3 year old shepherd as well.

Other purebreads I've known include a german shepherd who died at 15, poodle at 13, etc. Inbreeding is a concern with some dogs but for the most part most purebred dogs are not inbred, and if they are it really doesn't affect their lifespans normally.

Except for this one dog I know. He's a pawmeranian and I'm pretty sure his half-sister is his mother and his uncle is his grandpa. That thing's dumber than a box of rocks.

I have a golden lab that some jerks abandoned near my house on Christmas eve a few years back.

She's the best dog I've ever had.

While that's usually true, some purebreeds can live healthy, normal lives, if the breed is kept non Alabama cousin marriage style.

I've had both mutts, my current dog, and pure breeds, my last dog. The mutt has been far healthier.

I'm getting surgery again.

On my spine this time. Didn't say anything before 'cause I wasn't really sure what all was going to happen, but long story short over the past month or so it's been discovered that I have pretty severe scoliosis... Seriously, the X-rays are so freaky.

So they're putting metal rods in my back at some point in November... That'll be fun.

Well, fuck, Charli. That sucks. Good luck, my friend.

Yeah post up tomorrow.

I mean, it's better than the alternative, but of course I'd prefer to not need it at all. ^-^ Either way, I'm pretty okay with the whole situation--the hospital we're having it done in is good, the people we've met so far have all been great and totally know what they're talking about(unlike the first doctor we went to about it, ugh) and, I mean, it's not like I haven't had surgery before...

It is true that I didn't have to stay in the hospital after the other one, but it'll only be for a few days so I shouldn't go too crazy. They have wi-fi anyway. XD

I'm stuck here with my folks, who as you all know, are adverse to all things nerdy. I literally can't get five minutes away from them.

Thanks bud, I'll try to give everyone something to respond to as well so that we can have some activity while waiting for you.

Also, if need be, you could always inform Charli of plot events, she is the co-OP after all. I don't mind waiting as long as we have at all, honestly it makes me happy to see you posted, but if college keeps you too busy, that is a viable alternative.

But I love the stuff about 'Fish Sticks.' He's going down in the Holy High Villains HoF.

Don't get me wrong though, I do like it. It's just that... The waiting... The waiting is pain...
