No, no, Mordred.

You know.

The villain in Arthurian legend? The Dark Sorcerer that opposed Arthur and Merlin?

And I think in some legends he kills them both...

Oh, for some reason I thought you meant that you had a Merlin mask on and that I was supposedly clutching you possessively, and thus you took off said mask, revealing yourself to be Mordred...

...Come to think of it, I have no idea why I thought that. I'm only half-here right now--got a new book in today.

Oh. What's about?

The descendants of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.

Charlotte and Jamie, to be specific. It's the second in a series--came out less than a month ago. I like it a lot so far.

Don't you hate it when you're playing EUIV Ironman as Castille, and have a war against Morocco going poorly, and then suddenly BAM!

The Burgundian Inheritance fires, and suddenly you have all this Dutch land to deal with...

True, I should have learned from the Granadans.

They did not expect the Spanish Inquisition.

:P

So far, it's my first real game on normal, and it's going alright. I got Navarra vassaled and annexed already, Aragon and Naples are PUed, and I got (I think) real lucky and got the Burgundian Inheritance. Meaning, my cash problems should be solved, if I can just pull the war with Morocco out of the shitter...

Well, I've had maybe five years of RM with them, so... nooo... don't know that feeling yet.

Oh, I've also started the process of destroying Portugal. That's important to securing the New World. If Portugal's out, all I got to worry about is France (Already on my shit list) and England (Tea-drinking push-overs. Already beat their entire army in the first war with Portugal).

You did get lucky. I have only seen Burgundy go to Castille once. Usually Austria gets them.

Also, that's the Reconquestia not the Inquisition that has to do with Granada. And historically, the Spannish Inquisition was only targeted towards Heretics, not Heathens (which Muslims and Jews were considered) originally. Originally everyone was fine with the Muslims and Jews, but then the Inquisition started getting out of control, Jews fled to Portugal and the Netherlands while Muslims were pretty much completely left alone.

Also, how is the war with Morocco in the shitter? Come on, you allied Portugal right?

WRONG MOVE!

You should've allied Portugal, they would have helped you against Morocco. But since you don't want Portugal, you're going to want to ally with England to protect against France, as France will be your biggest enemy for the entire game.

You'll also have to worry about Brittany, the Netherlands when they form and occasionally Norway/Denmark/Scandinavia when it comes to the New World

NO. DO NOT DESTROY ALLIES. You need to gather a large number of allies, THEN PICK AND CHOOSE WHO IS WORTH KEEPING. Trust me.

I meant Reconquista.

I mean, I did use them in the first war with Morocco, but then they got into a war wtih Tlemcen and I was like 'Naw' so the alliance broke and then I was like 'Hmm, I kinda wanna control Gibraltar, and I gave them Tangiers and Mellial, so...'

And then they died real quick, along with England, because I had Naples, Navarra, and Aragon on my side.

And how did the war go to shit? Two words. Army mismanagment. My fifteen stack sieging Marakech was caught by the entirety of the Moroccan and Tlemeni armies, and I destroyed half my main stack trying to save it while keeping Fez sieged. It was bad times.

Oh, and my badass random three star general died and the general you start with died too. It was sad.

YOU FOOL!

That applies to everything...

There is an event mid game that can give you a PU over Portugal if you are Spain, and therefore control over all their colonies. YOU SHOULD HAVE KEPT PORTUGAL! You literally threw a valuable ally away. Two actually, unless you can still get England on your side.

Naw, England's lost. Like, totally lost. I broke their alliance with Portugal, though, so I won't be fighting them for a little while yet. Hopefully I'm wrong and they might recover. My plan is to stop Euro expansion after Portugal and focus on the New World and North Africa. So, hopefully I'll be able to keep the French off me for a while and the Dutch under my thumb.

Maybe I'll release Holland and give them all the Netherlands stuff and just let them deal with it for me...

If the Netherlands have formed already then it might be a good idea, especially if you are going to focus on out of Europe expansion.

You won't be able to keep France off you, especially with Burgundian lands and the PU over Naples. Also, expansion in North Africa will bring you into conflict with the Ottomans if you are not careful.

Eh, fuck Kebab. I'll end them rightly with the righteous Spanish pommel throw!

Anyway, I'm fully away that this game will soon go to shit, and I will need to find another thing to try once it does!

Maybe I'll try for the Ottomans again, or maybe France.
