That's actually a good idea. But I'm not sure if that would work well for the barracks. I'm not sure, but I don't think it's an indoor arena, so if it snowed everyone sleeping would be fucked. Maybe the locker rooms could also serve as barracks?

You could maybe rig up a canvas to stretch across the top. There are big flood lights at the top, so you could keep the place illuminated. From what i see, the top curved in a little big, so it wouldn't be impossible.

Faction/Nation Name: The United States of America. (May change the name to the Republic of Columbia.)
Faction/Nation Territory: The Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, and military installations across the Wasteland. (Essentially, canon Enclave outposts, as well as some bits in other places.)
Capital City/Faction HQ: Columbia. (Formerly Atlanta.)
Population: 500,000
Government: A tolitarian republic with theocratic tendencies. Only white, male citizens, with the exception of a landowning freeman, may vote. The classes are structured as follows.
Citizens- Landowing White males and females. The only way into this class other than to own land is to serve in the military.
Proles- Indentured servants, white working-class people.
Slaves- Non-Whites and subhumans owned under the bondage of slavery.
Leaders:
President Elijah Comstock IV.
High Inquisitor Tobias Clarke.
General Robert Calhoun.
(I'll add more as time goes on.)
National/Group Ideology: Christian Fundamentalism, American Exceptionalism, Manifest Destiny, White Supremacy, etc.
Military:
The Minutemen- Trained to the standard of the United States Army, The Minutemen are the main force of the Republic of Columbia. Generally armed with an assault rifle or shotgun, these men and women defend Columbia with pride. The standard uniform is made up of gray-green fatigues underneath combat armor, with a tricorne hat. The Minutemen number roughly 1,000, with roughly 500-600 in reserve.
The Firemen- The Firemen are an arm of the Inquisition, and are generally responsible for the immolation of heretics and heretical material, though they may be tasked with the execution of any rebellious slaves or sub-humans if the Minutemen ask for it. Should the Firemen be sent to the field, they will use Flamers and laser weaponry, while being outiftted in T-60 power armor. The Firemen number 450, with another 100 in power armour.
The Air Force- 40 VB-02 Verti-Birds, followed by one B-50 Bomber.
Artillery- 15 Howitzers. 1 Anti-Air gun, of which a targeting computer needs to be procured, and for now will have to be sighted by eye. Smooth-bore cannons can be built when the Republic acquires a proper munitions factory.
Armor- One engineless tank.
The Inquisition- The Inquisition are both the special forces of the United States and the secret police. Inquisitors often wear reinforced combat armour, and wield laser and plasma weaponry. The Inquisition numbers 700, with an additional 300 in X-03 power armour.
Major Towns or Locations: Vaults 001, 002, and other military installations across the land.
History: (Lazy history until I feel like actually filling it in)
2077- The Great War occurs. Several thousand United States military personnel, politcal figures, and other people of the upper class are shuttled into Control Vaults, protecting them from the nuclear war above. In another timeline, these men and women would have been known as the Enclave, but this is not then.
2220- The Vaults holding the Republic open. Contact is quickly established with other vaults still loyal to the United States government, and a string of outposts is setup across the former nation.

I know I am late into the artillery discussion, but if a nation had only crude level smithing abilities, and wanted something mobile, they could make something like this.

Image

It was the rocket artillery of the Napoleonic era. It obviously has no aiming mechanism, except for lowering or rising to change its rough distance traveled, but it would be great to counter large moving armies.

Also, I have to ask this, because I am a huge nerd for historical weapons, but would it be possible to construct the early era Gatling Guns, for like placing at outposts for defense?

Faction/Nation Name: The Bronco Republic
Faction/Nation Territory: Much of western Colorado, as well as Denver. It also stretches up and down the Rocky Mountains, but not too far outside of the state of Colorado.
Capital City/Faction HQ: Denver, Colorado.
Population: 457,875 (Rough estimate)
Government: A democratic republic
Leaders: President Johnny Kyle
National/Group Ideology: To expand their realm of influence, as well as make contact with other nations.
Military: The Bronco Army has a strict chain of command, much resembling that of Pre-War Armed Forces. In order for commands to be passed down from the top, they must be handed down through each commander on every level until it reaches who the order is being issued to. There are 4,117 soldiers, 3,999 enlisted and 118 officers. The army is composed of two brigades, with approximately 1,500 soldiers in each. Within each brigade is three battalions, with approximately 500 in each. In each battalion there are two or more companies with 200 in each company. Within each company, there are two or more platoons with around 60 people, and in each platoon there are two or more squads with around 12 people in each. The army is controlled by the President, who also acts as Commander in Chief. The ARMCOM (Army Command) is based out of the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, and is the highest level of command under General Jones, who answers directly to the president. Military doctrine includes the use of long range engagements, with there being many snipers in the army. Snipers play critical roles in the military, from supporting infantry to scouting, even the assassination of an enemy HVT. The Republic also utilized a massive robotic force, as they use their machines as cannon fodder, to minimize human casualties.
Major Towns or Locations: Cheyenne Mountain: The Birthplace of the Republic, as well as the command center of their military.
Fort Collins: A northeastern frontier town of the Republic, Fort Collins sees many soldiers, merchants, and settlers pass through it.
Vault 44, Vault 38, and Vault 62: Three Vauts built in the Rockies, instead of an experiment within the vault, the Vault Tech experiment would watch how three vaults with different ideologies would interact with eachother once they returned above ground. Each vault serves as a massive city, underground as well as overground. (Sorry if I used any of the cannon vault numbers, I don't remember them all)
History: Vault Tech built three vaults in the Rockies mountain, each with different ideologies. One control vault that would represent Pre-War America, one Dictatorship, and One Monarchy. The result once they encountered eachother? A three way total war. Each side was equal footing, and each one strived to gain an advantage over the others. Once one vault discovered the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, the others had spies who leaked the information. A massive three way battle, with each of the vaults security forces fighting eachother erupted. The vaults each had made alliances with tribes, settlements, and mercenaries to bolster their forces, but it only plunged the region into chaos.

Once the dust settled on Cheyenne Mountain, three hundred people lay dead, and none of the sides had gained control over the entrance. An emergency meeting was called, and the vault overseers brokered a ceasefire. The overseers put together a fifteen man team, composed of five members of each vault to explore the underground military complex. After finding a old US Army General's keycard they entered the bunker, finding massive amounts of records pertaining to Pre-War America, as well as a massive armory, and a massive fleet of robots.

Within the command center of the bunker complex, where atomic war was fought hundreds of years ago, the three vaults unified under one ideology, that of the control vault. The newly formed republic then focused on repurposing their militaries and allies to expand their territory. Mercenaries were folded into their militarie's ranks, Settlements were annexed peacefully, and tribes were given reservations provided they give loyalty in return. The army crushed any raiders that ventured too close, and cleared out many super mutant strongholds across the region. Settlements in the mountains were springing up, and a great march on the ruins of Denver (Which wasn't completely nuked as Cheyenne Mountain's missile defense grid prioritized the warheads inbound to Denver) secured the city, where the lawlessness was put to an end and the government moved in.

After little over 100 years of conquest and prosperity, and the Republic serves as the government of much of Colorado, as well as the Rocky Mountains that stretch into other states.

Adding to accepted list.

Hey, Waztaskio, I had a good idea. I wanted to ask you, for reasons of realism if it was ok.

I was thinking that along with addressing my random event, I could have my Arch-Guardian collapse from respiratory failure. But when the equations are run moments later, they still go in favor of him. So they revive him, and place him in like an exoskeleton. It is connected to him by his nervous system through his spine, and it allows him to breath in pure oxygen. It would be like similar to power-armor, but not as strong.

Capital City/Faction HQ: Hopeville
Population: 295,000
Government: Old World Republic
Leaders: President Matthias Warwick, General Sampson Hide, Martin Retslaf(not a leader but important story wise)
National/Group Ideology: Survival and centralization. Eventually wanting to expand more east at a later date.
Military: An up and coming military power that started with the resettlement and recreation of Hopeville. With equipment found and scavenged from Hopeville and Ashton, training manuals, and holotapes, the army is well trained and highly professional.

Mainly equipped with pre-war arms and armor. With an elite sqaud of men and women equipped with riot gear that act as a mobile police force and as a wartime spec-ops unit.

Ran like and old world military due to their training coming from old world military trainers found in Hopeville and Ashton military bases. With ranks being equivalent to those found in the US Army.
5,900 troops.
Major Towns or Locations: Hopeville, Ashton, Vault 13 and 15, claims Bakersfield. Claims LA over the soviets.
History: New Columbian history began about eighty years ago with the discovery of Hopeville and Ashton by a trader baron from Sacremento by the name of Albert Wesson. It was his desire to find a trade route that went from Bakersfield to New Vegas that didn't require the hassle of avoiding the Divide. He would work for six years. Acquiring all types of individuals from all walks of life. His grand expedition into the Divide. This fated expedition of less than 100 individuals would walk into the Divide and change the history of the southwest of what was left of the US.

The initial journey was harsh with more than thirty members of the expedition dead from the trek. Anything from tornadoes to radiation had claimed many lives. But the group would find their way through and into a time capsule, unopened for the last seventy years. Two cities with major military bases, unlike touched by the Great storms of the Divide. Protected almost, shielded from the harshness of the Divide. It was here that Albert would find his way to New Vegas. The expedition made it to New Vegas and left after a short while making their way back through the Divide.

The caravan would stop though. Albert would propose the refounding of the dead city of Hopeville. He imagined a city that was protected from the Divide that would connect the far north with the deep south. Many on the expedition would settle down with him and New Columbia was founded.

Over the next eighty years Hopeville would become a major trading hub. More and more expeditions through the Divide would find safer and safer routes through as they went. Soon enough Ashton would be built up as well. The sister city of Hopeville. And after this New Columbia would begin spreading it's influence. Around fourty years after the initial discovery of Hopeville and twenty years after the death of Albert, New Columbia would began moving up through the Divide and west annexing towns and cities as they went.

In less than ten years New Columbia had quadrupled in size and was on its way to becoming a veritable superpower in the south. In ten more years New Columbia would have control over Albert's home town of Sacramento and negotiations with the council of Vault 13 and 15 were in motion. In the last twenty years New Columbian expansion has rapidly decreased. Years if rapid expansion had boomed the economy but now dealing with the protection and administration of such vast tracks of land has forced more recent presidents to stop and deal with the problems that are now forming from their imperialism.

Accepted.

Alabama is already claimed by an incoming app. But the rest is fine.

Am very sad that New Reno, Sacramento, Modesto, New Vegas, and Carson City don't get mentioned as major cities :(

I look forward to it, I did previously mention the Shark Club in RP, so that would indicate that the Bishop fam exists, or at least did. It also seems to be a popular spot for my people to travel through, so tourism!

New Reno that is

Ahoy there, wastelanders.

What's the former states of Florida and Louisiana looking like these days?
