Probably not. As I said, our policy has generally been against any rebel or resistance groups.

They still wouldn't own the Senate though. The Eastern Imperium could coalize against them.

As a Filipino and descendant of a man (God bless his soul) who actually survived nearly three years in the mountains hiding from the Japanese... you get my point.

But then again I'm seriously asking if it would still be worth it because:

I've basically been warned that whatever I do if I get the Philippines, even if the rules clearly state I can take them, I'm fucked because what he wants to RP can't compromise for a new guy like me who also wants to try to RP so of course I have to scrap everything I had planned. Kinda sucks but what am I going to do?

Now I would still love to play but knowing that my fate lies in an invasion and, judging from the RP nation I was crafting, eventual colonization (which would lead to an RP rebellion he's stated that he doesn't want) it just kinda sucks to have a map of my RP experience drawn out for me and I really don't know what to do about it.

The Philippines are a Japanese colony. There is no reason for them to have a substantial Christian population, and I have no interest in allowing anyone to RP a rebellion in one of my most important colonies. If you do claim them, the OP board will make me give them up because of the "homeland>colony" rule, but you'll be invaded by me as soon as the RP starts because the Philippines is hugely important to me strategically.

Second, what's the status of the nations who helped explore the New World? I'd like to be one of the nations who at least started to (hence my presence in Argentina, which so far has been undisputed)

Unfortunately, whether he wants to take over the Philippines or not is his choice. It doesn't break any rules. New players don't get an anti-player protection.

Wasn't sure. I was thinking about sticking to Runic language, but the thought of sharing the same alphabet with the Germanic Pagans would be...difficult to stomach, to say the least. Or if the Germans just used the Gothic Alphabet, that'd be peachy.

I know it may seem petty, but honestly, from my perspective letting you join and leaving you alone out of niceness is just an exercise of shooting myself in the foot. I'll be severely weakened by the loss of the Philippines, and there's not really any way I can change my claims to allow you play them that doesn't put me in a bad situation. It's not fair, from my perspective, that after all the time and effort I've invested I have to go back to being the underdog to make room for new players.

It does seem petty, yes and the title literally says reboot so I really don't understand the problem. Believe me I am trying my hardest to try and see this from your perspective but I really can't unleas your empire is from the old thread in which case yeah okay sure but again it literally says in the title reboot. It's like if you had a shot up liver in your last IC you've just gotten a free transplant.

Again, I still can't see understand it from your perspective, but that pretty much tells me I will not be able to play here and if I do it will be 0% fun, so I'll end it here because it is literally pointless as you've made your stand against compromising your story for a new guy very clear.
