The peasant strode into the keep, with his chest high, and posture stern. As he strode past, the eyes of every person in the court moved to watch the man as he approached the High Lord, the man who sat high above his blood relatives. The peasant stood, fists clenched, and glared through his beady brown eyes, breathing hard.

"What have you done to us," The peasant spat, "you're nothing more than a coward!" His face was red with rage, and the guards that stood solidified by the High Lord's side glanced at each other, knowing what was to become of the man.

With her striking red hair immediately identifying her as being a daughter of one of the Northern Houses, Phoebe has an image befitting that of a youthful noble maiden. Her physical endeavors has given her a lithe, energetic figure that reflects her usually playful personality although her well-toned muscles are normally hidden beneath the dresses of nobility. While her outings and love for hunting have gained her a few minor scars over the years, the blemishes are relatively minor. She is careful to maintain her outward appearance, both because as much is expected of one of her station, and since she knows all too well the power that comes from being underestimated by one's opponent. To play the delicate courtier is a strategy that can pay dividends in her line of duty to the Empire.

Backstory:
Born as the fifth daughter to the Earl of Tendaal, Phoebe was never going to rise far above the position of her birth. Being so far down in the line of succession with double misfortune of being a daughter and a late-born, she was brought up with the expectation of being used as a minor diplomatic tool in the endless manoeuvrings of nobility. As a result, she was left largely to her own devices while her parents focused their attention on her brothers and older kin. As long as she didn’t cause any unwanted waves, she was granted the freedom to wanter her parents’ lands, exploring and accompanying her brothers on their hunts rather than remain cooped up as a noblewoman should. It was considered a harmless exercise by her parents, and they saw little need to reign in her escapades.

However, on her tenth birthday the young Phoebe earned the attention of the visiting King Elkor. The Rhodes had pulled out all the stops for their esteemed guest, insisting on the finest feast and comfort that their House could provide, eager as they were to gain the favour of the influential King. When he approached them at the end of his stay, expressing his curiosity and intrigue for their youngest daughter, the family wasted no time in offering her as a courtier in his service (a marriage into House Warbury being too much to hope for, of course).

Seeing potential in the young girl, the King had Phoebe trained in the arts of intrigue and combat as well as the proper mannerisms of a lady of the Court. Playing the long game as one of his station must, he had seen potential in the young girl to act as a tool to extend his will. Within the King’s Court, the Spymaster was a bludgeoned instrument. Only a fool would not know of their station and act without caution around them, making their job of rooting out the traitor all the more difficult. However, none would suspect the slight figure of the lowly courtier to be his eyes, ears and – should the need arise – blade within the Court.

The Order of the Dragon is a monastic knightly order dedicated to a certain breed of paganism. The initiation ritual requires aspiring knight-brothers to survive one week naked in the wood, without outside help. Servants and Guardsmen subject to the Order (but not owning the Status of a Knight-Brother) are given a easier task but still have to prove their ability in wilderness and hunting skills.

Faith of the Dark Heart of the Woods: A splinter religion, not exactly secret but definitely quite and restrained about their actual dogmas. It features a knightly order, a small clergy and a flock of just a few thousand believers, by many greater churches, they are classified as a cult, as far as their existence is recognized at all. Their believe is hard-core animism, their are very devoted to the spirit of the Forest, which they regard as one massive, divine being. The Dark Heart is also the name of their sacred groove at the center of the forest, a mythical place where the lingering aura of magic from days long past can still be felt.

Background: (Just so I can put down something so I can remember what I am going for)

The house Ironwood was related to the House Blackmoor by same long gone ancestor but they are considered to have nearly no ties besides master and vassal today. They had ruled over the Ironwood Forest for hundreds of years in the county of Ironwood. The forest gave the highest quality wood in the empire making the best bows, shields, and other implements of war that needed wood. Stephan is the current heir of the county and will inherit it once his father passes which will not happen for several years most likely. At the age of 12, he was quickly being recognized as one of the best archers in several generations within the county. It was decided Stephan would be sent to the royal court for education hoping that he might increase the prestige of house Ironwood within the realm with his archery skill and a proper education. Stephan had other ideas however rather than listening to lectures in the royal court, he was often found hunting in the forest along with huntsman that inhabited the capitol. It was from them that he learned nearly every inch of the forests and by the age of 20, thanks to his skill with a bow and knowledge of the terrain, Stephan was granted a post as one of the royal huntsman of house Blackmoor. He now spends most of his time in the forests,if not needed at the castle, collecting herbs and edible plants or hunting.

Maria pulled her fur coat tighter around her body as a blast of cold air hit her body. Her small group of just eight was the last of Aguston's mighty entourage to begin the climb up to the village but such was the duty of a rear guard. She had volunteered her small group for it as it kept her away from the other nobles of the land for one thing. She was a peasant noble in the others eyes and her skill with the bow would never change that. It of course didn't bother Maria but made her avoid being with the other nobles to avoid a headache. The small group of Maria's included herself, her son Werner, her daughter Julia, and five mounted bowmen from her retinue that guarded Campia. Men with a keen eye and able to hit a deer at 600 yards. That was one of the reasons that Maria was the last up as they had found a great buck on the way and took the chance to bag the mighty animal. Now the buck lay on the back of Werners horse and would a fine meal for her men during the journey. She would of course have to give a portion of it to the lord as it might turn bad if he was not at least presented some of the meat from this fine kill.

The group then finally came to the mighty gate after taking the winding path and entered the village. As Maria looked around, she thought how similar it was to the village of back in Campia. It was small but well organized to the naked eye. The people would determine whether it was really well organized but Maria did not know of any the people here so she could not take a guess about that. Her party was of course a very odd one compared to the rest as it entered the village. No knights in metal armor could be seen but instead it was eight on horseback wearing and cloth armor with fur coats to keep out the cold. A very odd group to be called nobility but that was what they were. The small group set up their tents away from the main group and began to prepare the buck they killed along the way.

It only took 10 minutes for buck to be skinned and the most of the choice cuts removed to be brought to Lord Aguston II. A task Maria went about doing with her children. The men would stay behind and finish cutting the buck. The three of them took off from the small group of tents and headed for the lord's guest house. As they come to the house, Maria called out to the guards at the door "evening Guardsmen, I bring a gift to the king". She pulled her fur coat tighter as she and her children approached the door.


Castle of Campia, Campia, Rivemia

The castle was full of cheering and laughter as the feast of the dragon took place. Maria had been called away during the first week of the two week feast leaving her brother Wilhelm to run the feast along with husband Cruz. The feast of the Dragon celebrated the defeat of the dragon by Werner and was two weeks of pure celebration for the people of Campia. It was a great relief from the average life of the peasants as they were allowed to feast within the castle. Bards strummed a tune as people danced together in a open hall while others drank and traded stories in the great hall. Wilhelm and Cruz were some of these men and were two of the most drunk. Wilhelm's wife Flamina was gossiping with other minor ladies from the two other castles in Campia. There was, of course, Wilhelm's son Thor who was playing with other children. They were running around the castle and having tests of skill with a bow and arrow.

All this continued for a few more hours before everyone gathered in outside the castle near a stage where the legend of Werner would be acted out. The people loved this annual performance showing how Werner encountered dangerous beasts on his search for the dragon and defeating them all. they would then see Werner enter the dragon's cave and slay him with a single arrow, of course no one knew if that was true. Werner then returned home with a chest of jewels from the dragon's lair and awarded the castle Campia. The crowd cheered as a crown was placed on Werner's head and he rose a noble. The same happened every year but the people still loved it. Of course this year had a surprise as the Camp's stepped onto the stage. "as you all know" said Wilhelm " we owe this land to Werner, the founder of the Camps, and now we give him a special gift". Cruz then began to speak saying "the children of the family, Werner, julia, and Thor, came up with this idea and Maria along with us were excited by it. We imported Marble from the far reaches of kingdom to give you this. A statue of our great patron". A large sheet was then tucked off of the statue which had been in the center of village since the beginning of the festival but had no idea what it was. The people cheered as this white marble statue was now able to be seen by all and they rejoiced in this honoring of the one who founded Campia
