Yes, but the Emperor would be dead before they could act. Edmund is acting with the support of the Royal Guard so the Horned Guard can't do much.

Should I make apps for my characters warrior guards? I was planning on doing it for at least one but I want to also check what you feel about more than one character under a players control. My intention is for them to largely be supporting characters.

Question, who killed the Emperor? From the post, I read it as it not being Edmund who physically killed the emperor but Lord's post has Edmund killing the emperor

Family History: An old family with a long history in the Empire, House Solomon is well known for their extreme, almost fanatical loyalty, to whoever holds the Imperial throne. Besides the wealth that comes from their mining lands and trade and the solid walls of the great mountain fortress Comperior the only notable thing about their house is their loyalty. Such loyalty has made them fairly unpopular among certain groups who are not as loyal, or ones who state that being as loyal as they are makes them sycophants.

Currently the young Duke Valerius rules over the House's lands after the death of his grandfather, who oversaw the Dukedom of Solace for many years with an even hand and was a brilliant administrator building the House's wealth greatly and forming a standing military for the House. A scrupulous man, Valerius has little interest in intrigue and is only moderate in terms of stewardship, preferring to leave the former up to his younger sister Maria, who serves as regent of his lands while he is at the court. However he is a very skilled warrior and great tactician with a fondness for sport and hunting. Despite his failings in intrigue he has a good grasp of politics and political situations, he just lacks the desire to make any use of them.

EDIT: So, I've revised my post and right now it's a standoff. I've sealed off the room and I intend to ensure Brandon's safety. He's the heir to the throne, or should I say he is the Emperor.

I'm fine with you doing that. You only need to do it if you want to flesh the characters our more.

So a servant killed the Emperor but Edmund appears to have plotted the murder.

RP Examples: OOC- I’ve been in a few RPs but nothing quite as political as this so I figured I’d write up a bit of a back and forth as Loke convinces a guild of farmers to work for him.

It was a rough night for Michael, master of the Four Farmer’s Producers guild. For generations, his family had been able to safely hold on. Sure, they’d gone through hard times before but never like this. In the past a quick message to the church and any problem would vanish beneath a wall of tithes, yet now, here he was sitting on a small mountain of coin but not a single soul willing to accept it. Making matters worse, the church had finally run out of patience and a letter demanding the repayment of debt had reached his door. Simply enough, it looked like the end of his family’s legacy.

“Master, there’s a man at the door requesting an audience.” His servant’s words thankfully snapped William to the present and momentarily out of his depression.
“Send him off, I’m busy at the moment.”
“Of course, though he claims to be offering a large trade deal.”
With a small sigh William waved his hand and told the servant to show the man in. In truth there was no work to be done at the moment and a distraction would be preferable to pondering his fate.
“Good evening Mr William” the man began, “now I do apologize for coming at such a late hour but I do believe you would find my attendance most fortunate.”
The man had white unkempt hair, muddied hands but lavish clothes. Obviously a peasant who had somehow fallen into wealth and decided to bring up his vocabulary as a result, an easy target for a bit of economic manipulation.

“Whilst that is interesting I would much prefer you follow more reasonable times. After all I’m a very busy man and frankly I doubt you’re worth my time.” Aggressive, yes. But William’s plan was simple, keep the stranger on the defensive until he’s sold everything he owns for half its true value. What he wasn’t prepared for was his response.
“Tell me. Have the church sent their ultimatum yet?”
That left William speechless and gave the stranger all the answer he needed.
“Excellent. In that case my name is Sir Loke, master of the Provincial Trading Corporation. And since a man as busy as you apparently has no time for manners nor pleasantries, I too shall abandon them. Simply enough, you are in dire straits of your own making. You assumed you held complete control over the distribution of wheat since your fathers chased away the competition and because you pay the church to help you when you need to drive away newcomers with low prices. Very clever I admit but without adaptation all plans fail. I currently own roughly 75% of this town’s wheat. I paid the farmers in advance and made them swear on risk of lashings and labour that they will give me my dues when they have grown them. Harsh I know but it makes me appear benevolent when I pardon them in our god’s name, of course I’m only extending the debt but I doubt they know the difference. The point is, no one will accept your coin as no one has any wheat left to sell. Now I am here on the brink of your collapse to offer a deal. I do not want to see a man as talented as you suffer the wrath of god and his clergy. Simply enough this whole area is producing far below what it could and should be. As such, the Four Farmer’s Producers will become, well, a vassal of sorts to the Provincial Trading Corporation. You will control the land as you have before and you will retain your title. Although you will follow my instructions to the letter and will give 75% of your profits to my guild. I understand you may have some concerns but your options are far and few, you can disband your guild and flee the church’s holy fury and quite frankly ruin my next few weeks as I create a new banner for the local farmers to rally under. Or, you can join me, and be part of the greatest economic expansion since the time of our greatest of ancestors. I promise, you shall receive glory, fame and great wealth. All I want is cooperation.”

And so the long night’s discussion began. Come morning a deal was struck and the church had its debts repaid. Over the next two years the man’s words proved true. New crops from distant lands were planted and grew all year round but just beneath the surface where it was safe from most vermin then tradesmen bearing the ensign of the Provincial Trading Corporation rode in and set up shop giving vast discounts to his own men and providing them with new unseen tools, further increasing the growing harvests. Then on the dawn of the first summer, wise men came sharing knowledge of farming techniques allegedly discovered by the Four Father’s devout. When his new payments were given William felt a tinge of pain as he sent off the carts of gold but also pride as he knew his guild would last. Whilst it had been purchased he knew that Loke recognised his abilities and prowess and needed him, the success was a result of his partnership and his efforts. With a smile, he turned on his heel and made his way back home satisfied with himself but fuelled with a new ambition to rise further surpass his partner.

New Antegria II: Another vassal King? The Empire is growing huge! ... Hey, the first post already talks of the costal region of Blackpeak, how about that's your Kingdom? (Of course, the name of the geographic region and the political entity controlling this region need not be the same)

Aight figured I'd get a quick post up before heading to bed. I would've had Phoebe swear fealty to the Prince along with everyone else, but I assumed that since she doesn't have any landed titles and is only a regular courtier without any special title, that such a thing either isn't necessary or would take place at some far less pressing time after things have settled.

Also, I'm afraid Lug may have just made an enemy

By revealing that he knows about Phoebe's position he's just slapped a great big target on his back. One option would be to try and get the Spymaster to tell her not to harm him, but otherwise she'd be willing to do anything to remove the threat he now poses to her.

Keros will swear fealty should a compromise be met for the autonomy of the Southern Tribes. Should no compromise be found the Empire will also be fighting in the south.
