The Next Morning
Nora Vaulkreiter

Nora Vaulkreiter grumbled under her covers light shone in through her window. It was too early for her to be up and about, and lord knows she needs her beauty sleep. It was only when she started to sweat a bit from the heat of the sun baring down on her covers that she decided to get up from her bed. She looked at the clock. She didn't set an alarm, after all, her parents forced her to come here, and she would do as she pleased. Grabbing fresh undergarments and her usual attire, complimented with the bronze accessories, she made her way to the bathroom to freshen up.

"You know, you're parents would probably prefer if you took this a little more seriously. They are just trying to send you somewhere where you'll have a better future." Nora heard this voice and nearly jumped.

"Oh....you." Was all she responded with. It was Rosemary, which just meant that Nora didn't take her medication yet. When she had first informed her parents as a little girl of the presence of this apparition, they immediately had her psyche evaluated. She swore she wasn't crazy, but others insisted otherwise and pushed these pills onto her.

"If you proved you could handle yourself here, they might even let you come home. Have you thought about that?" It was odd. Rosemary didn't sound condescending or belligerent. She sounded genuinely concerned for Nora's well being. Not wanted to be lectured however, she immediately looked around in her travel bag for her meds. Lo and behold, there they were. She took two, as prescribed and she wouldn't realize it but Rosemary would disappear within the hour.

Looking at her schedule, Nora saw that she had Professor Fusion Studies as her first class of the day. Hell, she was probably already going to be late, but that wasn't her problem. Gathering her deck and her other required school materials, she made her way to class.

Hallway - Near Classroom 4: Fusion studies
Marcus was excited for this class. Fusion monsters made up his deck's strategy, and as a result he felt like this class would be helpful for him. Rushing down the hallway, Marcus passed by a girl. "Hey there, which class are you headed for?" He inquired. The pair was now approaching Classroom 4, and several students had already arrived. "I guess you're here with me huh?" Marcus continued as he entered the classroom.

The professor was already waiting for them, a cheerful smile on her beautiful face. Her hair was blonde, and her eyes blue. She wore a white coat with a black skirt and red top. Needless to say, Marcus was very pleased to be in this class. "Hello you two. You're just in time!" She said, pointing to two seats that were empty. Marcus ran over to one and sat down.

"Sooo?" Luna questioned Declan, "where you going towards next?"

"XYZ studies." Delcan answered and before she could ask, "Then history, english, math, Synchro, and science."

"It only appears that we have Fusion together." Luna pouted, twirling her umbrella.

For a moment they walked together through the school in silence before Luna said, "i'll find you at lunch!" Before skipping off in a different direction

Declan sighed and hoped that he would be able to actual show himself at full power in this next class.

Nora was minding her own business, making her way towards Fusion Studies without a care in the world. All she wanted was to see her friends back home and get out of this accursed school, but she would have no such luck. What's more, she would have to deal with the smiling faces of legions of other students who were all ecstatic to be at this school.

"I guess you're here with me huh?" Nora's only acknowledgement was to nod her head and roll her eyes. Well, at least someone was enjoying themselves.

It was only when she arrived in class to find that she wasn't late according to the teacher did she truly to feel a bit of agitation.

"T-This professor! The length of that skirt! Those breasts! Is she some sort of temptress?!" Nora thought all of this to herself, her mouth agape in shock. She patted where her own breasts would be if she was as well endowed as her professor. She was definitely a bit self-conscious.

"Whatever....". Nora grunted when told to take a seat. It wasn't anything the professor had done to her personally, she was just uncomfortable being taught by this boob-demon.

The Professor didn't seem to hear Nora's rather uncaring comment, however Marcus did. Geez what's up with her? Doesn't she want to be here? He thought, his attention being drawn to the Professor when she rose from her seat. She faced the class and smiled. "Well then I suppose we're all here now? I'm Professor Finch and I'll be teaching you about my favorite type of monster." She explained, extracting a Duel Monsters card from her coat pocket.

It was purple and portrayed a tiger-like monstrosity with its artwork. On the top read the name Frightfur Tiger. "This is a fusion monster. They're a rather interesting type of card as you'll soon find out. Now can anyone tell me where these cards are kept?" Professor Finch inquired.

Marcus, knowing the answer, rose his hand. "The Extra Deck mam." He answered, earning a nod from Professor Finch. "Good. And can anyone tell me how you summon a fusion monster?" She continued. Marcus knew this answer as well, however he would let someone else answer it to test their knowledge.

Kazuya hadn't exactly picked his classes, not that he was particularly interested in any of them, so that was probably a good thing. He rarely utilized his 'extra deck,' preferring to focus around his Armed Dragon.

"Where are we going, Kazuya?"

I thought I told you, fusion studies.

"Oh, that's right, I forgot."

Continuing to walk down he hall, textbook tucked under his arm, Kazuya stalked into the classroom, late, as to be expected from someone who cared as little as he did about this whole thing. After all, he was only here to avoid jail time.

Instead of making a scene, he sat down just as their professor began her speech, taking a seat just as she pulled out her card, following with a rather obvious question.

What is this? Novice Academy?

"Aw, that's not very nice. Not everyone knows what a fusion monster is.

He neglected to even reply to that, his exasperation telling the small dragon everything that it needed to know as he toyed with the pendent of a similar shape around his neck. Glancing around at his classmates, he wasn't particularly impressed by any of them, but he mentally tipped his hat to the one who answered, saving the rest of them the trouble. Hopefully, that would be a common occurrence.

Upon further observance, he wasn't entirely sure that the teacher's outfit was entirely legal, being, well, a teacher, but that was probably something that he'd best not bring up.

Would you happen to remember how long the classes are?

Cheery as ever, his spirit partner clacked his jaws together with an animated shake of his head, "Nope! Not a clue!"

You're a big help.

Anthony raised his hand and said, "By using two compatible monsters with polymerization, or if the level of the fused monster is low enough, you can summon it without the monsters being used with the Instant Fusion card." Now, Anthony really didn't want to take this class as he doesn't really use fusion monsters, sure he had a few in his extra-deck, along with a few polymerizations, but he only had them so if he was facing a fused monster he could summon them if he met the requirements and not loose straight away by it.

Professor Finch nodded at Anthony. "Good. There is one other form of fusion summoning however. Does anyone know what that one might be?" She asked the class. Nobody answered immediatly, however Marcus knew and rose his hand after a few seconds. "Contact Fusion mam. You preform it by either banishing the fusion matierials from your field, or by shuffling them back into your deck. But you don't use Polymerization." He said.

Professor Finch smiled. "Good! Now I'm going to ask you about other cards you can use to fusion summon. Anthony already mentioned Instant fusion, but what other cards exist?" She asked.

Nora sat in the class, trying her best to pay attention to the professor, but utterly failing in this regard when she realized what basics they were going over in this class. Seriously, most novices could even grasp this much from playing the game. The girl scoffed. She supposed it didn't really matter, if the course content was going to be this easy then it simply meant she could goof off or catch up on much needed sleep.

"Good! Now I'm going to ask you about other cards you can use to fusion summon. Anthony already mentioned Instant fusion, but what other cards exist?" She asked.

Nora looked up from her phone sighed. Were we still on this? She shrugged and supposed there wasn't any issue with answering a question to make herself look good.

"Super Polymerization". Nora called out. However, she couldn't help but continue with a hint of smartassery. Or perhaps it was her urge to dismiss this school as unneeded for her. Even more so, she might of held a slight grudge for this school making her a bronze member, but she quickly squashed that line of thinking. No, she definitely wasn't jealous.

"Really though, fusion is so much more inferior compared to Synchro and XYZ summoning. The monsters of the latter two have so much more potential than mere fusions". Nora grinned, eager to see if the teacher would be offended by her line of talk in a fusion class.

Prefessor Finch narrowed her eyes at Nora's words, while Marcus simply let out a "pfft" at her statement. "Oh please. Metalfoes have been topping tourneys all over the place. Don't give me that nonsense!" Marcus said, an urge to defend his prefered summoning method rising up within him.

Professor Finch cleared her throat. "Now now Marcus there's no need to get so defensive about it. I'm sure we all know that Fusion monsters are just as viable as XYZ or Synchro Monsters." She assured him, earning a quiet "Yes mam" From him.

Nora grinned, happy that someone in the class got their hackles raised over her insults of fusion monsters. She turned, ignoring the Professors insistence to calm themselves and decided to respond to Marcus.

"I mean, it's great and all you love fusions so much, but you're going to have to realize the superiority of Synchro decks and XYZ decks here. I mean, look at Yang Zings. Plus, Metalfoes, really? I could see it if you blended them with another deck like I said before, Yang Zings, or even Kozmo's, but on their own? I'm just not feeling it. Speaking from personal experience, I've never lost to a fusion focused duelist, and their decks all seemed pretty pathetic and lackluster."

Nora ended her brief little tirade secretly hoping someone else might even join in at this point. The fun was just starting after all.

"Don't you think that was a bit rude? Everyone has their own dueling style, why insult them?" Rosemary asked. Nora did her best to tune her out. She didn't need her 'words of wisdom' right now.

Oh was that a fact? She'd not lost to a fusion based deck? Marcus would have to change that. "You seem to be forgetting Shadolls. What about Gladiator Beasts? All kings of the competitive scene, and all fusion!" Marcus Exclaimed, an annoyed look forming as he reached for his deck, making sure it was still there.

"You and I are going to settle our little dissagrement after class. Capiche?" The fusionist continued. Just then Professor Finch spoke up. "Alright you two that's enough. If you want to duel, then do so later as Marcus suggested. But right now let's get back to our lesson." She said.

"Of course mam. Sorry for the distruption." Marcus replied, giving Nora a confident smirk. I'll show you... Trust me. He thought, already planning out his first move.

"Finally, something interesting to do." Nora thought to herself as the boy who was arguing with her challenged her to a duel. Oh, they would definitely settle this disagreement after class. Hell, maybe he'd find himself a better deck after she wiped the floor thoroughly with him. Looking at Marcus, she returned his confident smirk with one of her own, drawing a thumb across her throat to indicate how badly she would destroy him.

"At the very least, you'll be my test in seeing how the average student at this academy operates, but I will win if not on my honor as a Vaulkreiter." Nora concluded. The young troublemaker resigned herself to resume playing on her phone for the remainder of this pointless fusion lesson, instead looking forward to her duel.
