The map looks really weird. It's a bunch of massive blobs and almost no overseas colonialism.

That's because most colonizing nations seem to have had problems, like Britain, and we also have a lot of independent nations.

Why would a pesky Hohenzollern who couldn't even unite the entirety of Germany be more attractive than a member of continental Europe's largest and most powerful noble family? With Rudolph not killing himself, and Franz Ferdinand still very much alive, the Habsburg are thriving.

I would have taken a ton of land in this if I were playing an imperial nation like Britain, due to all the other land having been taken. No one is even taking the Congo, the most valuable land of all.

And you don't exactly get to control the rest of the map. You can indicate stuff, certainly, like I am indicating that Italy should have problems because it got rekt in 1859. But not up to the point of deciding whether other players control stuff outside of your nation or not.
