History of Nation: The relations between Mexico and the United States were extremely tense prior to, and during, World War I. In 1917 Germany offered Mexico an alliance, Mexico would attack the US and reconquer Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and California, in order to keep the Americans too busy to get involved in Europe. In return Mexico would recieve German support. The Mexican government accepted the offer and declared war on the US. But in the end the Central Powers lost the war, including Mexico. The US didn't take any more land from Mexico, but Mexico was forced to pay war reparations.

In 1941 it was time for the next round. Mexico's and Germany's relations had remained good thorought the interwar years, and when Japan, Italy and Germany declared war on the US, Mexico joined the Axis, once again hoping to restore the borders of 1836. It didn't end better this time. Just like Italy, Mexico switched sides in 1943, and could therefore escape the fate of Germany and Japan, but it still took many years to rebuild the country, even with help from the US.

During the Cold War, especially after Fidel Castro's rise to power in Cuba, Communism became a threat against the Mexican state as well, and the US became an ally. In the 1970s, general Fernando Fernandez seized power in a military coup. He maintained good relations with Washington, even though he still privately didn't like the US one bit, and dreamed of restoring his country to its former glory. He idolized general Franco in Spain and Stroessner in Paraguay, among others, and his rule became just as brutal. When general Fernandez died in the 1990s, his oldest child, general Juanita Fernandez, became his successor. She is a bit more liberal than her father, but shares his dream of making Mexico great again.

Never said you couldn't have a ship as large as mine. Also, just as a note, the Soviets may let you guys use their docking station if you ask permission first, just saying.

The Soviet Union's economy is about as good as IRL USA because its economy recovered from its own Recession - another reason that it failed to collapse. It became quite self-sufficient. If it does have a weaker economy than yours, it's because we're the 2nd biggest economy. We can likely afford many, if not all the things you can.

Listen, I'm saying the Soviet Union is likely an Earth-based superpower, alongside the Commonwealth. Like, we're probably competitors.
