But the Deep Ones are in the Southern Half :)

One of the other Economic Paradigms was my Dark Organellism, which allows you to build the Dark Forge [5 Food, +1 Minerals and Fert] and gives +1 Food.

Yes, but your in the east last time I checked. Still going to need some troops. But that sounds good for the Emerald Horns.

Which do you guys feel is the better wonder for Defense? and the better wonder for trade and expansion?

The Great Wall or the Great Docks?

Because the Docks double trade capacity and trade range as well as grant 3 naval vessels maintenance free.

But the walls kill half an invasion force instantly.

You will have competition for wonders. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. However to answer your question. The first tech you will need is architecture. That'll let you start a wonder. The next tech you will need is sailing. Finally you need 20 minerals to actually construct the great docks. The 3 free ships don't seem to come with the docks I should note. The ships are like batteries in toys, not included.

The wall doesn't kill half the enemy invaders, it just halves their power and damage rounded up. If you have the Great Wall and 1 militia defending against 1 attacking militia, your militia will still be killed. 1 damage rounded up is still 1.

Ayup. I've gone for more of a spend-food-to-make-things vibe with my civ, since Hark spawned me with only one Mineral, and it gives a nice organic-tech vibe.

Probably. I would hold your horses for a bit though; your Philosophy bonuses might give you new resources to account for in your later turns you don't want to miss out on by running ahead.

Also someone might have raided your settlement and eaten your people before turn 18

You can certainly try for it. I can't speak for the others. I think I will likely try for one of either the Port, Walls, or Gardens because the port counts as 2 docks with one worker. The wall allows better defence empire wide. And the gardens give 3 food and 3 culture per turn.

I think I would be in competition with Iron for the Gardens, Apple for the Walls, and yourself for the Port in whichever one I choose. But it's good to keep in mind that rushing a wonder means less resources for everything else and if your raided less defences.

Also, I'm not sure if the Great Wall will stop G-Tech's raids by itself. You'll probably still want soldiers defending.
