Hey, what happened to the fertility and mineral stats on the regions? Was that also the troll? Trying to see where I can expand. Thinking of making a colony in the north. Want to meet G-tech and see if I can help.

If Hark lets me create an animal species through finishing researching animal breeding on or before turn 5 (or 8 if he'll allow), given my beaver people eat wood, I wonder if creating walking trees reminiscent of treants would be strange. Maybe they could supply food or minerals each turn.

Hmm, well, he might not. Him letting you have a new creature means we would have to delete a different civilization's discovered creature, which would cause all sorts of shenanigans. That said, I think most created species give some form of food bonus, like being allowed to be rancher with a special building for +2 Food from one worker, or the like.

That sucks, was either thinking of moving south to the mountains near me or up north of the new guy. It was between population or minerals. Still deciding.

G-Tech, so if I'm correct, leviathans are fundamentally no-maintenance naval units? Because they require food but produce food.

Cause I might even take them to boost my Helveti Rule the Waves strats. The other creatures don't look too too interesting to me at the moment.

That's true. I couldn't find anything on the mammoths, but the waterproof sheep looked interesting. Shave the fur to convert to wealth that will fund a library. The food however didn't really seem appealing since that's the farms bonus. 1 pop makes 2 food. I telegramed Hark with some questions, but with regards to creating a new animal species, right now I'm banking on his statement that as long as animal breeding is researched before turn 8 ends you can create a new animal species to make that happen. But if it can't, then oh well.

Yes and no. Leviathans (Resource) are distinct from the Leviathan Armada (Unit). Leviathan Armadas are very pricey to build in the way of Food, but Leviathans (Resource) produce one Food by default in Aquatic Provinces.

Actually, now that I consider that, you might have to talk to Hark about Leviathans when used by a land-based civ. Presumably you'd be able to tame them, but their resource bonuses applied to Aquatic Provinces if memory serves, which I'm guessing your race can't colonize?

Still, they're a useful military unit. They're pricier to build than Triremes, but can carry two units and have better survivability, as well as being capable of moving through Ocean by default.

The benefit of Food is basically that it can give all your Provinces an effective Bonus Fertility over time, which is pretty powerful if you think about it.

Given that my race can be comfortable in down to -50 degree Celsius water (Although at that point it may just be ice), do you guys see many issues arising weather wise with colonizing the tundra?

Mechanically I don't think we distinguish between terrains save water and land, so I would say go for it.

I think I'll just stay in the Southern Half, Deep Ones kind of scare me. Also, what are the three economic paradigms? I know Grims Patronage one but what are the other two?

But the Deep Ones are in the Southern Half :)

One of the other Economic Paradigms was my Dark Organellism, which allows you to build the Dark Forge [5 Food, +1 Minerals and Fert] and gives +1 Food.
