In brief: Most people are just developing their homelands, though some people have begun expanding. We're at turn 14 now, and Harkback wants a few more active players to catch up before we continue.

Yeah, sorry, Burning and I still have to work out some details.

Also, can people add their names to the map so we can tell who is controlling what?

WE should certainly have a "Legend" section where its explained which color stands for which player and faction.

I went back and edited in the turn of researching pottery I missed, but it's all kay now and I have a trireme up.

Can it move on the turn it was built & mobilized, or only on the next turn?

I've taking the Evening trireme to anywhere.

I will use that as an excuse to only move tomorrow IRL, even though I'm technically still a turn behind. I've declared turn 13 so I'm pretty good on time, I think.

What are people thinking of for socio-economic paradigms? I'm trying to adjudge whether my proposal is too weak or strong if anyone feels like sharing for balancing.

PATRONAGE (Socio-economic Paradigm) - +1 Culture from Workshops. 1 Culture can be spent to increase power of a unit by 1 for 1 turn, as many times per turn as wished for.

The workshops and power bonus are agreed on, but the last clause about "as many times" is a clarification that wan't in the original draft but which I thought was implied.

Hmm, interesting. I'm aiming for a sort of feudalistic system that gives +1 food per region and a garrison for provinces, maybe a custom building related to feudalism.

I might be missing nuance, but that just sounds like feudalism + a fort for which the prerequisite is feudalism.

...I have now realized that feudalism is actually a technology.

Damnation, and here I thought I was being creative. Though my custom building would be more flavorful, I'm trying to make the Chrik a psuedo-organic civilization, so it might be an organic forge or something.

What do you guys think might be a better fit in this rp? A humanoid insect, like a vespid stingwing from warhammer 40k, or a humanoid beaver like a Tynnan from Star Wars?

WIP

INTELLIGENT LIFE # 19

Species Name: Homo Castorian

Species Appearance:
Image

Species Biology: There are 2 genders, male and female. They are omnivores, eating fish, as well as leaves, branches, bark, water lilies, and more. They have long front teeth that are used to bite down trees. They have a thick and well oiled fur and a layer of blubber that keeps them warm in the winter, and can swim comfortably in water up to -50 degrees celsius, but it gives them a more pudgy appearance. Since the monolith they have sprouted into a more upright posture, drastically extended their average lifespan, and maintained there distinct large flat tail and webbed feet, though this has sometimes been a hinderance it aides with long range warnings and construction. They have excellent hearing, smell, and touch, with a mildly poorer sense of sight compared to other species.

Species Climate: Treeland - The space next to the grey fill with 5f and 2m

Species History: Evolving from Giant Beavers, the Casorians were good at construction and logistics naturally. It was how they got food. They constructed dams that water would fill. Ecosystems would occupy it, including fish, frogs, insects, and algae among other creatures, and the Castorians could move wood easier through it. When the Monolith arrived there brain grew and became more efficient, and they began to spread out from their traditional stomping grounds and into the modern day. Today there appearance represents there mentality, a mix between the past and the future.

To clarify what are the limits of the species looks in terms of biology. It states the mnlith is making them each iteration more human, so does that mean my species must be more humaniod than the last.

No, as long as your species is humanoid, it's good enough.

I believe that is expected that the ability of flight is not given, though one species can glide.

Thanks. In the same token, are species similar to the Vulcans and Asari allowed?

Species can't be "taken." If someone applied as a certain species, you can still make another tribe of that same species.

I would guess so (don't quote me). I don't think psionics are allowed if either of them have that.
