I've managed to get out an early explorer, but apparently colonizing water areas is a real ballache.

Don't you still have anarchy since you didn't finish researching philosphy? Which would mean you only have 1 authority?

I can't actually gain Authority- the Chrik civilization is based around the Ancients, which are construct-able units. I have to have one in each region that isn't my capital to inhabit them.

So you don't need authority to expand? Must be nice.

Basically. Every ten turns I can expand, so it's a nice early bonus, but I'll probably suffer for it later when everyone snaps up land. With luck that'll balance out so I don't get roflstomped.

Not on NS but, then again, I've only ever played one RP to its close. So my win-loss-draw record is about 1-0-30,000.

He can expand wildly faster than any of us. If we get that far, it'll suck for us, not him.

That was the entire point of the DC allowing the spawning of Ancients Hark. We discussed that as my civ description before you formally accepted me.

Constructing ancients I recall, no-authority province control I don't.

What did you think the Ancients were for? I recall saying they would be my only way to control provinces.

Well, I considered ancients to be mobile towns using resources of their area, but you'd need to have authority over the towns themselves!

Um, so, I have to construct additional pylons for no reason when other civilizations can colonize without them?

Nobody besides you is able to colonize aquatic areas.

Besides, these pylons allow you to move your towns around. Other factions can't do that.

But the other aquatic guy just colonizes normally? I'm certain the only thing Ancients do was give the ability to control regions as we discussed.

At the moment I only plan to control my desert (7-8 Provinces) on the Eastern Isle. I may have some war if I need more fertility for food.

2 Wonder types may be suggested for ancient wonder list by players.

I would request something like the Hanging Gardens, that would provide a food bonus, and possibly a culture bonus. Obvious prereq would be Irrigation.

Edit: This is mostly from my eventual need to get more food somehow ;)

I just thought of the same.

I think sewers could suffice for prereq, else it will be more of a medieval wonder.
