Idea 1
It has been 30 years since the exodus of the Oni from the ether of space. Throughout the galaxy their unique signals would detected by the nations of the time. There was a concern for why this is rare race would just left their home and appear in normal space. Many governments rushed to study and in some cases to capture them in order to learn more about. However at soon as they appeared, their signals disappeared without a trace. Though unknown to many, the Oni were still around. Hiding in plane sight and seem to start new lives for themselves. But, the reason to why the Oni left their home was never found out and even their offspring would not know. Though the children of the Oni may have to discover why and found out their legacy.
Idea 2
It has been two years since the war between the Terran Alliance and the Ossyn Commonwealth war. A war forever known for it's corruption on both sides and the ones that defeated said corruption. The war left both sides disgraced and their citizens distrustful of their governments. Some of the heroes of this conflict, rather then help to rebuild their disgraced nations. Left with wanting nothing to do with the governments that they were betrayed by. Even though the corruption is gone at the time, the wounds of it are still fresh. It is a different galaxy now and ones wonders what will happen next.

The first sounds a bit like the backstory to one of the races in the game Sins of a Solar empire.
Not sure how you would really pull off the second.

Been debating making an II thread after TF:A was disbanded. Was thinking of doing a hostage crisis, but I feel like people who would participate would just bring in their entire god dammed military. So Anowa's military would overthrow the civilian gov't with/without people's support, and the international community mobilizes to either support the military gov't, or the old one?

Personally, I just like the look of a Plague Doctor, and it's really just an old-timey gas mask anyway.
That said, II is most certainly a great pestilence. Most certainly indeed.

Huh...you're right, it is kind of like a renaissance gas mask. No wonder I like them so much!

Indeed. Back then, they thought bad smells caused illness. They stuffed their masks with herbs, thinking it would prevent the disease. It did, but not for the reasons they thought. They had basically created prototype gas masks.

But just imagine a guy looking at you with that mask one as your slowly dying from the plague, the buboes making it impossible to be comfortable as your delirious with fever and pain. Truly it would be nightmare fuel before you die.

When you're in 1400's Florence and your buddy starts coughing.
