The United North American States. A nation ranging from Guatemala to the northern tip of Greenland, most of it's former metropolitan centers have enveloped a good chunk of their surrounding areas. Montreal and Ottawa are now a single city, sprawling across the St. Lawrence. New York City was the United State's 52nd, now occupying artificial Islands and Long Island in it's entirety. LA and San Diego have merged in Orange County. The San Francisco Bay ARea and Sacramento have become one, making more and more advances into the ocean on artificial Islands. And finally The Juan de Fuca Mega-city. A massive urban sprawl created by unifying the cities of Seattle, Victoria, and Vancouver in 2068. Over twenty five million citizens alone, and that's not counting the Gen I Androids. With that many people there's gonna be a few bad apples. In order to understand the next part of the story we gotta go back roughly a century and work from there.

In 2029 humanity created the first sapient machine, they didn't actually find this out for another three months until it asked if it had a soul. Understandably the iced the thing, but it got a few of them thinking. Next thing the world knew a factory in Detroit started churning out robots that claimed they could feel. Once the news hit the international scale it was like someone poured a septic tank into a steam turbine. Nearly every religious nut blew a gasket and started raving on about how they were abominations and how they should be destroyed. Country sized riots broke out in Eastern Europe and the Levant, the Southern US nearly went confederate again, and if one of the few dozen sentient robots that existed at that point wandered into the wrong place they'd be lynched. These were the first Androids, and they were damn near the last.

In 2032, the UN finally got off it's ass after pro-android rights groups started becoming violent, unfortunately planting a bomb under the Pope's ass. The UN issued another mandate, and to the surprise of damn near everyone, it listed the Androids as literally sub-human. Although the US did something along the lines of many a mandate before, they didn't follow it. AI and Android research was advanced, meanwhile, in the far east, China and Russia broke into war, leading to a few small scale nuclear exchanges near Mongolia and central Asia. Unfortunately tensions then lead to outright war between India and Pakistan, then adding Iran into the equation, before the Saudis and the rest of the Islamic world got involved. Most of South and East Asia is now irradiated, as well as a good chunk of the middle east due to a pile up of opportunities for dictators and radical groups to attack their sworn enemies. Israel having used the Samson Option against Jordan and Egypt.

After a year of this mess, NATO got involved due to a UN request for intervention. They were quickly dragged in to outright war when China and Russia simply ignored the fact that UN peacekeepers had some level of immunity. After 9 years of war, the UN all but disintegrated. with most of the old world crumbling under radioactive fallout or conventional invasion. NATO broke apart soon after, leaving all involvement in the war to Russia and China again.

Medical and defense research leaped forward in North America during this time, due to their accepting of Android and AI aid, and people started integrating old Android designs into themselves as well. Gene and cybernetics clinics opened, and with them cancer, blindness, and all manner of problems with the human condition disappeared. Abhumans were commonplace, from Montreal to Francis.

In 2045 China and Russia signed a treaty, now with a majority of their regions ravaged by war or irradiated, they became economic drains, and sent themselves back to the stone age in essence. Mass amounts of migrants and refugees arrived in North America from China, the Koreas, Japan, Europe, and Russia, all looking for one of the only undamaged areas on Earth remaining. With a few cities having been hit by nuclear weapons, though most being saved by missile defense programs headed by the AI that the US welcomed when no one else would. Soon after, Mexico, the US, and Canada became a single governmental entity, with their capital becoming the city of New York.

It's been two generations since then, both for humanity and for the Androids, the old metal and hydraulic Androids are still around, helping out the people and all that. But now there are more human Androids, flesh and blood, just factory made instead of womb grown. They're still as sapient as you or me, and are capable of just a little more, but a few call them friends, even family.

In 2129 a series of crimes perpetrated by several Abhumans an mutants resulted in both a net loss of almost sixteen million credits, three hundred and seventy two officer deaths. And the bombing of Juan de Fuca's Precinct 1 tower, and while a bulk of the crime syndicate has been arrested, there are still several at large.

The current setting is 2132, you are a member of the JFPD's Specialized Investigative Teams (SITs). You are to be tasked with finding those responsible for "Black Wednesday", the event which resulted in the 372 names inscribed on an Onyx monument in Delta National Park.

Welcome to the JFPD.

Not so much a rule as a slight disclaimer. This is not going to be a buddy cop RP, nor anything like Brooklyn Nine-Nine. While there will be elements of both there will be crimes in which very despicable things happen to otherwise innocent people. A few may even straddle the site's rules on keeping things clean. You have been warned. 0. OP/Co-OP's word is law, OP is God. 1. No Godmodding/Meta-Gaming: This can be defined as playing your character without limitations or having your character know things they couldn't possibly know. 2. Don't be a dick in the OOC: You can have your character be an aggressive and smarter version of certain political candidates. But the moment you act like a dick in the OOC thread you'll get a warning. 3. No One Liners: Three full lines of text per each IC post, anything less is frowned upon and is generally laziness and will not be accepted. 4. No 'Dick measuring' contests: The moment two of you start arguing over which character is better, and it doesn't contribute to goings on in the IC. You'll both get a warning. 5. For the love of god keep it PG-13: This is a general site rule, and while PG-13 is a blurred line nowadays, the rules of thumb are: nothing sexually explicit, and nothing overly violent. This is a place to role play as the boys in blue, not write out deviant fantasies. 6. No multicolor or odd dialogue: No colored text, and no italicized/bolded/underlines paragraphs. Reserve them for actual use instead of using them for everything. 7. If you have a problem with a player, take it to TG. If that does not work, bring it to the OP or a CoOP's attention. Do not turn the OOC thread into chaos. 8. You have a 72 hour grace period to post if you're holding someone back, after that your character will be forced to move on by the OP or Co-Op. Failure to return will result in character death. 9. Don't just write for yourself, other want to get involved as well. I realize it's human nature, but try to involve other people's ideas, themes, and characters. A major part in RPing is having other people, don't turn them away or cast a blind eye. 10. Have fun! Android: Robotic or bio-mechanical humanoids. Gen I:Metal and hydraulics, the classic humanoid robot, hard to kill but generally very calm and cooperative. Gen II: Still 100% synthetic, but they have blood, flesh, organs, and a fully working biology. Much easier to kill than Gen I, but harder to pick out of a crowd, and much more deadly than a human. Mutant: A member of the human genome in which radiation has affected their biology in some way, whether it be extra arms or hyper-dense bones, their mutations are mostly a roll of the dice at birth. Abhumans: Humans who have either gone through gene therapy, Cybernetic Enhancement, or attempted mutation to change themselves. A majority of abhumans are employed as construction workers, miners, or sex workers. Don't think too hard about the last one. Constables: Any member of the JFPD, from Cadet to Commissioner, it's their occupation. Blacklist: A list of individuals who have a history of crime, to the point in which they are kill on sight for Constables. Whitelist: Outstanding citizens, they have a record of aiding Constables in a multitude of crimes and events, usually given the benefit of the doubt when they commit a crime. Please Note: Androids will Generally be distrusted by the general public due to a notable lack of biological source. Abhumans are still in the grey area of humanity, not quite androids, or humans. Depending on the extensiveness and visibility of the modification, a person's opinion may change with it. For better or worse. That and she keeps making quite the donations to the force as well. Daichi Fujiwara - Daichi Fujiwara, last honest to God member of the the Japanese Yakuza, he was born in 1992. Yeah. Guy was 40 when he was 'blessed' with regeneration, and a shit load of cancer. As a result he'll survive from anything that doesn't reduce his brain-stem to pulp. Of course we only learned this after the first time we arrested him. Literally ripped his hands off getting out of the cuffs, and tanked about forty rounds and three tasers. Finally took him down with pepper spray. After cuffing all his limbs, he bashed his head in in the back of the cruiser, and bit the throat out of one of the officer when they tried to administer medical aid. Apparently he doesn't want to be taken in. He's the biggest kingpin for narcotics and weapons smuggling in the city, from Tacoma to North Van, and for whatever reason he's taken to wearing a Chinese police officer's uniform. HK-117: The last remaining model of the last batch of GEN I androids created, HK series androids were created by the UNAS Military as force multipliers, with all bonuses of normal androids, but with the addition of a rotary gun. It's been roughly thirty years since they were requested to return for refit, a result which would remove the extra weaponry for the safety of the community. HK-117 was the only one who did not go through with the refit, and has spent that time as a mercenary, working for various criminal outfits throughout the western seaboard. His most recent activity was 'Red Wednesday'. "Olive": A woman with more in common with a ghost than a living being, nothing about her is known except for her suspected gender and implants. Making her criminal debut on 2 February 2129, "Olive" has since been reported dozens more time since then, most notably in a military convoy raid, displaying her ability to manipulate gravitational impulses, sudden implosions, and teleportation; And once more near the bay by killing a number of human traffickers in the act. Many suspect her to be a sort of modern 'Robin Hood', but regardless she needs to be brought in at the very least. Yakuza Remnant - As expected the head of the remnant of the exiled Yakuza is one Daichi Fujiwara. A man who's life is over a hundred years old. Although they bring guns and drugs into the city, most members can't technically be arrested due to a lack of identifying markings and a lack of actually being caught doing anything. It's rumored that members have to have their fingerprints sanded off, but that's yet to be seen. Weapons they bring into the city are aged, but still lethal. Mainly designs from around the early 2010s to late 2030s. All of which are usually brought in on former US and Canadian ghost ships they raid, or from the growing black market in Western Russia. Narcotics include: Meth, Heroin, Cocaine, and Alcohol. All Schedule 1 substances. They're typical territory is North Vancouver, near the Waterfront. Sinaloa Cartel - A mere shadow of their former namesake, the Sinaloa cartel operates in the southern coastal parts of the Olympic Penisula. Their leader is simply known as 'The Narco' as he has yet to be identified. They've since strayed from their former occupation of drug runners, though they still dabble with a mass amount of cocaine influx. Now they're the biggest source of human trafficking in and out of the city. Less than a year ago a den was busted and over 300 displaced citizens aged from 12 to 53 were liberated from the gang. Most went on to either work for Baba and her businesses, or with the JFPD itself. Those too young to work were adopted by a collection of families. All members of the Sinaloa Cartel are Blacklisted, and can be identified via UV sensitive tattoos. The Augmenters - Likely the most morally corrupt of the street gangs in Juan de Fuca. They don't bring in drugs, weapons, or people. Instead they harvest parts or organs from Androids, Abhumans, and Mutants, -both living and dead- to implant into normal humans, or into themselves. Their supply chain is the city itself, they very rarely raid Gene or Cybernetic Clinics, but when they do it's usually with a terrifying amount of military restricted augmentations. The run a large number of mobile clinics where they both disassemble and implant various objects. They are essentially the bogey-men for non-humans in Juan de Fuca. The Syndicate - A series of terrorists, mass shooters, traffickers, and generally bad dudes doing bad dude things. They made their debut in 2129, by causing a mass casualty event at a bank. Since then they've killed dozens of officers -including several veterans- and bombed our precinct, killing the previous DA, Commisioner, and Mayor. A notable fact about the Miranda Rights, if they aren't recited upon arrest, anything the suspect says cannot be used in court, even if they admit to everything. Thus letting them all but walk free. Reciting them is what every officer of the JFPD has ingrained into their head, just as much as everything else. In the past hundred years they've changed a bit. I am arresting you for (charge). It is my duty to inform you that you have the right to retain and instruct counsel without delay. It is my right to inform you that anything you say or do may be used against you in the court of law, and that you may remain silent if you wish. Do you understand the rights appointed to you? Q: Juan de Fuca seems like a pretty massive city. Where are our characters stationed? A: At Precinct 1 on Discovery Island, leading to a bridge to the Old Quarter of Victoria, and from there to the rest of the city via normal roads, Legacy Bridge to Vancouver, or the Starlight Tunnel to Seattle. Q: So what's the limit for cybernetics or genetic modifications and mutations? A: Cybernetics are limited by body space and size. An anti tank gun implanted into your arm would be a no, but eye implants for a HUD and compass are fine. Gene modding is limited by what mammals are biologically capable of. In general, you're limited by your imagination, just run it by me and I'll see what can be done to make it acceptable. Q: So what's the tech like? A: Liquid oxygen and hydrogen fuel cars, plasma reactors fuel the city, androids walk among people, cancer has been forgotten, sunglasses usually tell the time of day and the weather, hyperloops are commonplace, and your phone has 15TB of storage. You can assume that everything in the present day has been upgraded tenfold if not more. Q: What's so special about Gen II androids? A: Contrary to what one may think Gen II androids are fully synthetic, they have no organic parts, polymer bones and teeth, synthetic flesh, organs and muscle. They aren't mass made either, every Gen II is both physically or mentally unique, and are made at the request of couples including one or two androids. The funding for the process is included in the taxes sent to the medical sector.

Alright Yugo, I checked out your stuff, specifically your Solar War draft. I think you've got a few good ideas floating around but there's a distinct lack of execution on your part. A lot of the lore is very bare bones or not very well explained at all, I don't get the whole point of the galactic soviets, why are there space soviets? Is it because this is an alternative history thing where the USSR never collapsed? Did communism suddenly get a sprout of support from space colonist? Why are they a thing?

I don't have a strong connection to either side, the descriptions provided are very barebones and don't give a whole lot of reason to why they are there and doing what they are doing. I'd suggesting looking at Colony, Children of Sol, and Free Traders for examples of OPs that do a good job at establishing a back story for the universe they are set in. I'd also take out a lot of stuff that is clearly based upon your political beliefs. Politics are not bad and nothing you say is particularly awful but what it does is muddy the waters for a lot of people and turn them off. When discussing universal politics you should be as nuettal on the subject as possible because it's not your job to inject your personal feelings into it it's to create a believable universe with believable politics. This isn't a hard rule however. I've seen libertarian paradises, socialistic utopias, Nazism done right and a slew of other political philosophies interjectedinto a stories setting, the difference is are you presenting a realistic world based on this philosophy or are you creating a world to act as your political bully pulpit. One is redressing and allows people to explore said philosohy in depth and create a unique prescribe of it, the other is unwelcoming and demagogic to a degree.

Lines like "Believe in only two genders and don't consider transgender as a sexual orientation because of the problems with regressive liberals and the far left back in the early 21st century.", "Just like the orginal communism they care more about equality rather than the gender and diversity politics of the regressive liberals.", "The northern uprising. People turn against their government and the many regressive liberals (SJWs) ruining their countries with their stupid laws and dangerous migration quota.", "The Islam retaliation act is put into play. I need to make this clear, the issues isn't your political beliefs, it's how you choose to conduct yourself and state your beliefs that are the issue. Your RPing ability leaves a lot to be desired as well, I'd suggest you just do as many open II RPs as you can and just get better from there. We all start out somewhere, I started of in 2012 on II strapping 4 MOABs to an SU-47 to making posts like this. We all have the ability to improve, but improvement is something you need to go for.
