The Histories

The Battle of Creation
Long, long ago before there were the Second Children, before the First Children, before the world was formed or the Illuminated came to being, there was darkness.
But even this eternal dark was not all that had been. Before the Great Night as it was called there had been four great beings. The first was Gegerot, the most powerful of the four, next was Shermiga who's voice was said to make the stars weep, third was Eldeiath who's prowess with the blade and the bow was beyond anything the any mortal could dream. Finally there was Arsul, whom the other three kept weak out of fear of his power, for Arsul was the keeper of the Flame of Life. And for an eternity these four great beings ruled over the world. But the three soon to fear Arsul more and more with each passing eon, and Arsul grew stronger and stronger than they.

And so while Arsul was out amongst the world the three came behind him and bound him. Hand and feet tied together they threw him into the void beyond creation. And so the Flame of Life, without its keeper died and corruption entered to world. Corruption swept through that first world, consuming all, twisting life into terrible monstrosities. Not even the great beings were spared, turned to terrible beasts that hungered for light. And Gergerot and Shermiga and Eldeiath consumed the stars and the sun casting the world into utter darkness. All the while Arsul was bound in the void, his anger rising till his chains burst and he was free. And with the strength of his righteous fury he burst the veil and the brilliance of his arrival stunned the other three, and they were afraid of Arsul for vengeance gleamed in his eyes.

The three monstrosities tried to hide, but were ever Arsul looked he found them, and there hunger over came them and the attacked Arsul. They believed that the three of them would be stronger than Arsul, but they were mistaken for Arsul's rage had become more powerful than anything they had ever known. Terrible was the clash that followed. For eons the fought, the three versus the one. The three never gaining the advantage over the one and the longer they fought the hunger the became, driven more and more mad by the unstated disier for light. And than on day in that great battle Arsul overcame the three, and he bound them and cast them into the void as they had done to him. With them his cast the abominations of the First World.

With the three gone Arsul saw the vastness of the empty universe. So he rekindled the Flame and called it the Sun, and around it he build his palace. And beyond the Sun he placed the planets and beyond he placed the stars. And around all this he built a great wall between the void and the Second World to insure that his new creation would be protected from the terrors without. After he had done all this he created ten beings that would care for the worlds he created. These he called the Illuminated, and the created they first life on Mermdus.

The Illuminated
The Illuminated were the first true beings to inhabit the Second World, created by Arsul to keep watch and to fill his creation with life. The Illuminated all reside the the In-between, a region not quiet in the real world and not quite within the Void. Here they have kept there vigil over the World. It is unclear how many of the Illuminated were created, but there are ten who have made there presence known to the mortal Second Children.

Image
Maja is the Illuminated of Nature, Fertility and the rain. Her temples are always filled with practitioners seeking her favor. She always had a soft spot for the Sons of Man, giving them favor in war and in peace. Many of the other races sight her affection of the Young Race as to why they have risen so far so fast. With the recent collapse of the Western Empire many think that Maja has turned her back on her favored race.

Yet another administrative failure. O, when will Grestin ever institute 1984 governmental principles to blind us from the flaws in the system?

In 2023, the Levant finally reached a level of stability in which insurgent wars and brutal tyrants no longer held any weight. However, over two decades of constant war had turned the region's infrastructure into a stone age level mess of bodies and mangled metal. As the region started to rebuild, they had some help from a good number of corporations, Tesla, Bechtel, DuPont as a few examples. PMCs replaced NATO soldiers in security checkpoints and in FOBs, but they're tasks remained the same. Clear out the insurgents to secure the safety of the corporation's assets and employees. Of course, none had it in the good of their heart, they simply needed more funds in a long term plan that would require billions before a pay off.

This pay off came in the late 2040s. A brutal coup toppled the democratic government of Iraq and replaced it with a corporate autocracy, US intervention was warded off with threats of economic ruin as a multitude of mega-corporations relocated to Iraq. In the following years Kuwait joined the conglomerate in becoming a corporate run state, as another PMC run coup toppled the government in Syria. In the years following, corporations in other nations started gaining more and more power. Eventually very few states remained in democratic status, the United STates and Russia among them, yet they were no longer the super powers.

It's now 2074, Baghdad is now the capital of the Levant, ranging from the Gulf of Aden to the northern reaches of Kurdistan, it's a nation in a chilly state of affiars with an independent Israel, and a neighbouring Persia, but nuclear weapons, technological superiority, and a number of pay-rolled generals keeps their borders secure. On top of this, The PMC -that is The PMC, not a PMC- remains on standby in the hills and deserts, clearing out any insurgents that remain from the decades of war the region had been drenched in. The most well funded and supplied PMC in thew world remains on standby awaiting a war, but until then they remain taking on applicants to protect their interests, both internally and externally.

This is where you come in. A recent hire, you've been tasked to Team 417, operating out of Aleppo, in what used to be Syria, you are now one of 208 teams that are assigned patrols in the northern sect of Levant, working on removing nomads for construction projects, clearing out innies, and searching for runaway employees or materials, you're job is relatively straight forward.

But with all corporate dealings, the ongoing backroom events put all of you at risk.

Nation Name: Jackania yugo [\b]
[b]Interests: sci-fi, war, politics.

Activity Level (How often do you post?): 6/10
What do you hope contribute?: A fun RP that (almost) everyone can enjoy.
RP Example(s) (If you have none, please provide a brief writing sample): Before the far left came back with such force people had reached out to the stars. They had already built various bases on the moon and had started terraforming mars. The government ordered people to go to mars so resources could be mined. However, the entire planet was still populated by non far leftists. They tried to fight back against the far leftists but they had a more powerful army. The war later turned into a diversion so that people on mars could escape to the asteroid belt and the habitable moons of Jupiter. In 2032 around autumn the ship managed to leave to the desired destination. The Martian colonists fell to the earth forces early next year.

This nation a funsion between capitalism and social democracy (the only type of socialism made to actually be incorporated into capitalist governments rather than trying to destroy it).

This nation is PMT/FT. Sometimes modern tech.

We sometimes use pokemorphs and digimon in our armed forces. Sometimes

We are technically centrist.

This nation is a reunited Yugoslavia (and also sometimes controls the UK as well).

Depends on the context of the RP. Generally speaking a well formatted picture does wonders for drawing people in. I generally like OOC posts that are informative, writing it from the perspective of a character can sometimes be interesting but again, depends on context of what the RP is about.

To add to this, a format that isn't just text slapped in a post also does wonders.

I use floatleft, boxes and spoilers to add a level of organisation and (((AESTHETICS))).

Gald uses tables and spoilers to further organize his RPs

and Grestin just uses linebreaks and colored text most of the time.

It really doesn't matter how you go about it so long as the text and the info it gives isn't given a bland pasty skin.

The Traveller
So comes the time of blood. Good, I do wish to wet my blade.

Anton Alier, General and first king of Highron

Oh yes the imortal words of Anton Alier, the fool who would shatter the greatest empire the world would ever see in the space of a single breath.
Areno the Scribe, Histories of the Bloody Age

It is the year 1289 and war wages across a continent. The Elerian Empire fights aganst an impromptu alliance of eastern nation's. Esmerian armies have taken the desert land if Soul-Diesh and now threaten the Elerian capital of Highron. The emperor fights in the Galacian Mountains after a defeat in Elmeria. Meanwhile the Emperor's most trusted general, Anton Alier has taken the city of Cold Water. All predict that the war will last at lest another decade. But fate had other plans.

While leading his troops the Emperor fell from his horse, cracking his skull upon to stones of the Galacian Mountains. He would die three days later. When Anton Alier heard of this he declared himself emperor and made peace. Losing Soul-Diesh in the treaty the empire had lost a war they could have won. Rebellions broke out across the land. Petty kings rose in West Mark and the Jarls of Frostfall broke fielty. Rickveg and Terjeron broke up into small kingdoms. Not even Eleria remained united. Anton would rule over Highron and the coastal cities while the lord of Corigia would rule over the rest.

It is now the year 1685, and blood flows like a river across the world. Frostfall bleeds, staining the snows red as the northmen battle for dominance over one another. Highron fends off a Fair Folk invasion from Esmeria. In the east Grey Water has been united and the possibility if an eastern Empire is real.

The time is rip for lords, kings, and lowborn all to make a name for themselves. The coming days will be trying, and if anyone is to survive they must be strong.

What is This

To be put in the simple of tearms this is a project started by me a while ago, my goal was to creat as detailed a world as I could while leaving you the player enough room to add lore of your own. Hopefully I have succeeded.

This rp is meant to be a charecter driven adventure, with a main story line that players can chose to interact with. Forging your own way is encouraged however. Please take what I gave written as a base for a greater story, a story crafted by both you and me. So please step inside and have some fun.
The Elerian Empire had stood for seven centuries, seemingly unbeatable for most of that time. At it's hight in 1289 it ruled from the Rocky mountains of West March to the pine Forest of Rickveg, from the ever winter in Frostfall to the scorching desert of Soul-Diesh. There armies were feared and there navy protected the empires trade on all the seas that merchants sailed. By the Illuminated Highron was the center of the world on those days. They were at there hight, the empire could have gone longer. And they would have had it not have been for one damned fools arrogance na greed.

The year was 1280, 15 year of the reign of Emperor Lieos Aceo IV. The realm was strong, peace had reigned across most of the world for nigh a century,
but Lieos was an ambitious man, an behind him was the even more ambitious Anton Alier. Together they planned the greatest conquest in history. The kings of Grey Water were always at war with one another, the Seven Rivers were always stained red with the blood of the Grey Men. Lieos saw this as weakness. An so in the summer of 1280 Lieos gathered his armies and invaded Grey Water.

The Grey Men at first fought the Empire alone, but to little success. Than in the spring of 1281 the banded under the King of Cold Water, still put numbered they were able to slow the advance of the western men. While he fought the empire the King of Grey Water married his daughter to one of the nobility in Elmeria. This lead Elmeria to go to war with the Empire. At the same time the Princes in Rickveg, always looking to break away since there subjugation in 1040, raised there banners against the Empire. Leios lead another army into the field to put down the rebellion. This left Anton the sole leader of the conquest. Than even more bad news, the Fair Folk of Esmeria threw there lot in a continent spaning conflict. The Empire now was fighting on two fronts. So it was that the East-West War began.

At first the Empire was victorious. Battle after Battle was won. By the end of 1281 the rebellious princes in Rickveg were once more under the heel of imperial authority. Lieos, now free began his Great Offensive. Crossing the Galacian Mountains into Elmeria and laying siege to Asheria. In Grey Water Anton lay Grey Haven to siege. Across Murmdus the Empire seemed to be winning, but the fate of war was about to change. The elves of Esmeria landed a host of 50,000 in Soul-Diesh. They took the city of Deragia and the rest of the South Men laid down there banners.for the emperor and raised them for the Esmerians. With another 40,000 men in there army the Fair Folk began an invasion of Eleria.

By 1282 the Esmerian army was laying sige to Asher, Cold Water was in imperial hand and most of Elmeria was occupied. The Telmorians had been neutral in the war decided to join the war on behalf of the last of the Elemerian defenders. The largest battle of the war happened as a combined Westerling and Northman army met the elvish host outside of Highron. Nearly 150,000 combatants fought, leaving nearly 40,000 in total dead and both armies left the field with little changing in terms of land gained or lost. Loses to occurred in the east, the Southern Gap was closed to imperial armies. By 1283 the war was shifting momentum. Cities taken in the previous year were being retaken, once more Highron was almost attacked, but another combined army halted the advance. And so the war went on in a bloody slog till finally in 1289 the end would come.

Lieos would fall trying to cross the Glacian Mountains, he hit his head and died from his wounds. When Anton heard the news he took his chance to seize power, the old emperor having no successor. Grey Water fell back to eastern hands and yet another attempt on Highron was thwarted. When Anton arrived in Eleria he cane to make peace with the elves. Soul-Diesh would gain independence and all imperial armies would pull out of the east.

Many believed this treaty to be a betral. Frostfall broke from the empire, as did the northern cities of West March. Corigia and the east of Eleria broke, were there was once a united empire there is now just piety kings and men who think themselves emperors.

It is now 1685 and the world is a barbaric place. In Cold Water the king of Cold Water has united the other two Kingdoms into what he hopes will be the first Empire in the East. The northmen she'd there own blood in a civil war. The southern cities of West March chafe under Highrons rule. Across the world the bloody tradegy of mortals play out. But there is worse yet.

Monsters cone out if the woods. Children go missing in the middle of the night, there bodies found drained of blood. And there are rumors of dark magic in the holy temples of the Illuminated themselves. A second darkening is coming, the signs are bare before us, and soon this dance shall come to a crashing halt.

PROVIDE A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE RP: Following the Oblivion Crisis, the Empire was on the brink of destruction, collapsing as disaster struck and provinces began to secede. The Elder Council fought among itself in petty squabbles, and the Aldmeri Dominion was reformed. The Colovian warlord Titus Mede has managed to take the throne, but he has not managed to restore order to Tamriel. Alinor and Valenwood, unified as the Dominion, have severed all ties with the Empire.

Now, the Emperor's network of spies have uncovered a plan of the reformed Aldmeri Dominion to locate an ancient weapon that was thought to be lost to the ages, having disappeared during the time of the Septims. The weapon is thought to be capable of the destruction of the Empire as a whole, and perhaps even more. As such, the Emperor's trusted spies of the Penitus Oculatus set out to find this weapon and prevent the Dominion's agents from getting access to it, together with the mages of the Synod and College of Whispers, as well as those select few that remain of the Third Empire's famed Imperial Mananauts.

A very rough concept, but TL;DR: an Elder Scrolls RP touching on the more weird and bizarre lore the setting has to offer, while going on a D&D-esque adventure to save the world.

Welcome to Bangor, Maine, a picturesque slice of suburban Americana rich in history and friendly people, where the culture is one-of-a-kind, and where the New England sun forever shines brightly. But do take heed as something wicked lurks in the darkness. Vampires. Werewolves. Things that go bump in the night. Monsters are very much real, and they live amongst us closer than you would think. Do not be alarmed, however, because these Nightsiders seek only one thing:
to make ends meet.

There is no evil in this world, only people, living their lives and chasing dreams regardless of their inhumanity, but for those residing in the shadows life is not always so easy. They go about in secret as victims of misunderstanding. Vilified for what they are; wrongfully condemned in the fictions of man ever fearful of discovery. No matter, they persevere as they have for centuries, and even here in the "Queen City" of Maine there exists a safe haven for those less than human, an apartment known as Sunset Grove, an old and formerly luxurious estate that has since come under slight disrepair.

The sort of place where monsters can hide in plain sight.

This is where you live, a Nightsider or perhaps a wayward human taking advantage of the cheap rent. Either way, this is your story, your life, and with two vastly different worlds coming together things are bound to be entertaining. And do be mindful of the landlord. She's been known to bite from time-to-time.

This is a comedic Slice-of-Life RP that will focus primarily on supernatural creatures and their everyday relations in a world where, officially, they do not exist. No matter who or what you are, whether that be human, vampire, or some other monstrosity, your life falls into the norms of society as best it can, which means that this is not an RP focused heavily on violence or movie-style action (although such occurrences may happen periodically and within reason).

You, the tenant, reside at Sunset Grove, an apartment well past its prime just a few miles southwest of downtown Bangor. You pay rent, work if at all possible, and will share a camaraderie (or lack thereof) with those living alongside you. That being said, there are some limits to what you can and cannot do. Sunset Grove is a low-income apartment, so your chosen profession will often reflect this, and while not prohibited do keep in mind that doctors, lawyers, or anyone of high standing are unlikely to be living on the premises. Alternatively, long-lived Nightsiders may have identity problems (ID, Social Security, etc.) which would naturally limit employment options. Humans, too, can be found living at Sunset Grove as denial without valid reasoning faults anti-discriminatory laws. Human-Nightsider relations are allowed, but some care must be maintained to ensure that the public at large remains blissfully unaware. Lastly, given the nature of Sunset Grove the landlord insists that all business that would draw unwanted attention be conducted elsewhere, and those with a penchant for blood (violence, homicide, etc.) will be evicted posthaste.

The RP will be divided into "Seasons" and "Episodes" in regards to plot organization.

The primary setting will be Sunset Grove, although the city of Bangor and elsewhere may be visited.
The starting date is October 1999. The current date is October 1999.

Persons of a supernatural or otherworldly heritage are referred to as Nightsiders. They range in scope from the mundane to the extraordinary, but no matter the scale of their inhumanity they seek only to live in relative peace free of the many burdens that Hollywood, and centuries of fiction, have portrayed as common to the lives of monsters, and in that regard they are practically human. Almost.

By far the most famous North American cryptid, Bigfoot is a gargantuan ape-like creature native to the scenic Pacific Northwest and is known for, among other things, his sizable footprints, dense fur, and enigmatic vocalizations. Although quite animalistic in appearance, the "missing-link" is very human in his nature and is remarkably intelligent, being as smart as he is strong, and his strength is considerable. Standing well over seven-feet tall, this cryptid has difficulty going about unnoticed, and because of this avoids public locations when at all possible.

Appearing often in Greek mythology, the centaurs are believed to be the descendants of Ixion, son of Ares, God of War, and while unlikely this legend of divine origin has since fueled a collective superiority complex, and as one could expect centaur tend to be quite arrogant, vain, and deeply narcissistic. Centaur are a proud people and do not take kindly to insults, real or imagined, and consider it vastly demeaning to be ridden like a common beast of burden, though some will allow such transgressions depending on the situation and/or the individuals involved. Additionally, they avoid discussing the Lapiths as if the name itself were a plague (the centaur warred against the Lapiths and, defeated, were expelled from Thessaly in antiquity). Human but with the lower-half of a horse, centaurs are swift, powerful, and overall superior to the average human, but their numbers are small and have decreased substantially since the collapse of the Roman Empire. Many have gone into self-imposed exile in the wilds of Eurasia, but some brave modern society in search of something more in life. Unfortunately, centaur are unable to assimilate due to their horse-like hindquarters, thus making everyday matters a constant struggle for those living in close proximity to urban developments. A small portion of humanity has displayed psychic traits and are collectively known as clairvoyants. Although similar to espers, a clairvoyant's talents are more spiritual in nature, possessing abilities such as precognition, telepathy, or astral projection to name but a few, however, these skills are often limited in strength and scope, and while useful are not vastly powerful, nevertheless rare exceptions do exist. These abilities are passive and can frequently be utilized with little to no cost (unlike an esper whose abilities are active). Most clairvoyants refrain from publicizing their skills if only to avoid unnecessary hardships.

In biblical texts demons are depicted as monstrous beings who only exist to torment and corrupt mankind. This is true to an extent, but demons, like other Nightsiders, are complex and varied beings different from what media and religion has portrayed. "Demon" is a catch-all term for the denizens of the netherworld, a realm existing beyond the afterlife, and although diverse in their forms and abilities demons share many common characteristics. Demons are naturally resilient to illness and toxins, are long-lived, some are biologically immortal, and posses abilities beyond human imagination. Many are human-like in appearance but this is not always so. Most demons can be killed by physical means and all demons are repulsed by religious iconography (a sincere belief is required for the item to be effective). Common types of demons include mischievous imps, manipulative devils, and the promiscuous succubus. Powerful demons can cross between realms at will but weaker individuals are reliant on temporary portals that may appear from time-to-time (the cost to manually open a portal is astronomical). Being from a different realm of existence, a demon's strength will be weakened while on Earth. To counteract this a demon may bind themselves to a human soul via a contract, the terms of which are as numerous as they are varied, thus sharing life energy, but should the human die (or the contract be broken) the demon will again be in a weakened state.

Dhampir are the children of vampires and humans, possessing many of a vampire's strengths but none of their weaknesses. Silver does not harm them, tanning on the beach is a pleasant option, and although blood must be consumed this need is infrequent and can sometimes be overridden entirely through sheer willpower alone (like a vampire, dhampir will become stronger after feeding). While not as powerful as a pure-blooded vampire a dhampir will effortlessly outclass the average human. Lifespan is longer than average but shorter than a vampire's, and unlike a vampire a dhampir cannot turn a human. Any offspring will be human (if the partner is human) or a vampire (if the partner is a vampire).

A faery native to the British Isles, the Dullahan (or Gan Ceann) is most often portrayed as a headless rider atop a black stallion and whom serves as an omen of death. Deceptively human in terms of appearance, the Dullahan can detach its head and possesses a body that is autonomous if not outright independent with its movements, actions, and personality. When disconnected the head and body will telepathically share physical feelings, senses, thoughts, and emotions, but extreme distances between the two will degrade this communicative ability. Curiously, the body can "see" and "hear" despite lacking eyes and ears but cannot "smell" or "taste". The inside of a Dullahan appears as a black void that swallows all light. Additionally, this faery requires no food or water, is biologically immortal, and superficial injuries will heal rather quickly if not instantly. While durable the Dullahan will die if the head is destroyed. Locks will open when approached no matter the mechanism, and like the folktales the Dullahan is attracted to imminent death or disaster. Has an innate fear of gold despite the metal being otherwise harmless.

The eldritch are Lovecraftian abominations inhabiting a reality beyond human understanding. Defined by their blatant disregard for the natural laws of the universe, and their unsettling forms, little else is known about the eldritch, and their motives remain an enigmatic mystery that few can understand without losing themselves to insanity. The eldritch can be described as "not right" in terms of appearance, disturbing, and some are outright maddening to witness. Abilities differ between individuals but most are frighteningly powerful in one way or another. The most powerful of the eldritch, referred to as "Great Old Ones", or cosmic entities, rarely show themselves, but weaker individuals may frequent Earth for whatever reasons. The eldritch were popularized by American author H. P. Lovecraft, however, how he obtained such knowledge, and what he wished to accomplished with his writings, remains unknown.

Not all humans are alike. Some are born with unique skills that defy all explanation, and although many will never realize their true potential a select few could be considered above-average. Espers possess the power to manipulate matter with only their mind. Telekinesis is the most common ability, but pyrokinesis, electrokinesis, and other more exotic talents do exist. These abilities are typically limited in strength and will often go unnoticed by weak individuals, however, espers that can accomplish spectacular feats do exist, but following the Cold War craze of ESP research many choose to hide their powers if only to avoid potential ridicule. These abilities, weak or strong, are difficult to control and are nearly impossible to master, and moreover are quite draining to utilize. Espers are completely human, and while normally unaware of the existence of Nightsiders they are, perhaps, the most accepting of the supernatural given their own exceptionability. Kindred spirits if you will.

A human who dies a traumatic, painful, sudden, or unfulfilled death may potentially become a ghost. Trapped in a perpetual state of limbo between life and the afterlife, ghosts are incorporeal and cannot interact with the living world, however, strong emotional states may allow for small instances of corporeality to manifest but rarely does this transcribe to anything more than poltergeist activity. The presence of a ghost is characterized by a void of negatively charged electromagnetic energy which adversely affects electronic devices (often draining the battery), leads to the creation of cold spots, and presents a general uneasiness to those not accustomed to such exposure. Coincidentally, this negative energy allows a ghost to be detected on recordings, video, or photographs from time-to-time. A ghost cannot find peace until the reason for their being trapped in limbo has been addressed, whether it be a farewell to a loved one or the mere acceptance of their untimely death, otherwise the spirit is doomed to haunt the living world for all eternity.

Often described as grotesque in appearance, goblins are diminutive creatures most often found in dark environments such as basements or sewers, considered a pest by some, and whose standard of living is undeniably poor. While not dangerous, goblins are lacking in intelligence (and common sense) and generally overreact to simple matters. Stubborn to a fault, but are easily distracted and/or bribed with shiny objects, like coins, and although crude they are loyal to those who befriend them, often to the point of annoyance. Diet is mostly carnivorous as evident by a goblin's many sharp teeth. Vaguely human, scrawny with oversized and pointed features, jaundiced eyes, and skin ranging in tone from green to slightly-less-green. Nocturnal and will actively avoid direct sunlight. Poor language skills and typically refer to themselves in the third-person.

Death has existed since time immemorial, and the Grim Reaper is the personification of death. Having existed for as long as humans have walked the Earth, the Grim Reaper has ferried the souls of the dead to the afterlife, a task that has taken many forms throughout history whether it be Charon the Ferryman or Anubis, Egyptian God of the Afterlife, or the more recent Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse. Death is a timeless being. A concept given corporeality. The Grim Reaper does not bring death but simply responds to its inevitability, and given its power to bridge the living world and the afterlife the Grim Reaper can see spirits, contact the dead (although this may not always be possible), and can accurately predict an individual's time of death. The Grim Reaper is not an undead creature but merely the absence of life, and physical contact with the living can prove disastrous: humans will often die as their life force is drained (and those who survive will suffer severely shortened lifespans), and while much the same is true of Nightsiders some can withstand a brush with death better than others, and the undead will be unaffected entirely.

Harpies can best be described as a human/bird hybrid, having the body and head of a human with bird-like legs (complete with sharp talons), feathered wings instead of arms, and hollowed bones. Because of their appearance, harpies have difficulty going unnoticed but are capable of prolonged flight. Additionally, having no hands or thumbs presents additional problems. Injuries are also more common due to their lightweight skeletal structure. Feathers, coloration, and patterns are varied but the body structure is that of a raptor (falcon, hawk, owl, etc.). Harpies enjoy open spaces and may suffer depression if "caged" for long durations. Despite powerful and efficient muscles allowing for flight a harpy cannot carry much more than its own bodyweight, especially for long distances. Diet is mostly carnivorous. Hatch from eggs.

Humans, despite all odds, have become the most successful creature on the planet thanks in no small part to their ingenuity and profound stubbornness, essentially beating a square peg into a round hole three sizes too small with such tenacity that mankind was certain to claw its way to greatness. Moreover, a proclivity for violence has ensured that non-humans remain firmly downtrodden in the shadows of society. For all their achievement humans are nothing special, but they rule the world which must count for something, and although taken for granted this fact remains a sticking point to Nightsiders.

Native to northern Africa, Lamia possess a human upper-half with a snake's body instead of legs. Lamia are naturally venomous (having fangs) but their toxicity varies due to many factors such as age and heritage. Additionally, their body is very strong and pliable, allowing a Lamia to constrict others in a manner reminiscent to pythons. Coloration, patterns, and overall appearance can vary dramatically from one individual to another, often as an indicator of toxicity or local environment. Scales follow the spine and can be found on the back, shoulder-blades, and rear/sides of the head. Cold-blooded, these Nightsiders are typically found in warmer climates, and those living in areas with harsh winters will usually remain indoors during cold weather. Unlike merfolk a lamia cannot easily hide their inhumanity due to the length of their tails. Mostly carnivorous but can eat plant matter without ill effect.

Tales of mermaids and sirens have existed for as long as man has sailed the seven seas. Though sightings have often been attributed to the misidentification of manatees or dugongs not all reports are easy to dismiss, and the truth of the matter is that mermaids are very much a reality. Merfolk are more-or-less identical to what legends describe: a human upper-half with the tail of a fish. Excellent swimmers, and with the ability to breathe underwater (as well as being able to survive crushing depths), merfolk rarely leave the open ocean, but some can be found inhabiting freshwater lakes, rivers, and swamps. Like humans, appearance varies drastically and is typically contingent on locale. The fishtail, too, may vary in size, colour, and shape with features similar to fish species of the same area. Merfolk are at a great disadvantage while on land given their obvious lack of legs, requiring the use of wheelchairs or some other means of locomotion. Additionally, being aquatic creatures, merfolk must stay properly hydrated or else they will become increasingly ill, and as expected do not fair well in desert or arid environments.

Native to the British Isles, the pixie is a small faery that is well known in folklore for its mischievous behavior and whose antics include misleading lost travelers, luring children away from the safety of their parents, and unscrewing salt-shaker caps. Found typically in old-growth forests, the pixies are most at home in nature, and while urban environments offer new and exciting adventures these creatures will naturally gravitate towards the odd patch of green, such as parks or aptly named greenhouses, preferring to reside in trees whenever possible. Is capable of some magic and illusions but these skills are more party-tricks than anything useful. Because of their small size (six inches high on average) pixies are often preyed upon by cats, predatory birds, and gnomes. Human-looking with pointed ears. Natives to many old-growth forests worldwide, satyrs have a human upper-half and the legs of either a goat or deer. Males will often have more elaborate horns/antlers than females but this is not always the case. Satyrs are generally hedonistic, self-centered, and prioritize a good time over anything else, and while known for their extravagant parties they rarely engage willingly in chores or other responsibilities and will complain rather vocally when forced into work. Their physiology allows them to run decently quick, but their lack of toes (having hooves instead) means they fair poorly on hard or tiled ground. In terms of appearance their fur is dense, often a solid colour ranging from blond to black, and their horns/antlers vary dramatically in size, shape, and composition. Skeletons are undead creatures resurrected typically by novice necromancers or through other means. Having no memory of their previous life, a skeleton can be considered a lost soul plagued by a crisis of identity, tragic in their journey of self discovery, and whom often dramatize every facet of their prolonged existence. Bones and nothing more, skeletons have difficulty assimilating into society for obvious reasons, and thus isolate themselves more often than not. Magic is believed to play a significant role in their movement, ability to speak, see, and hear, and explains their inability to fall apart (though this bond is tenuous at best and a skeleton can easily be disassembled). Like a zombie who cannot be killed unless the brain is destroyed, a skeleton will remain "alive" so long as the skull is more-or-less intact. Time Travelers are humans who have tragically become displaced from their point of origin. The most common example are pre-history men and women frozen in ice (or preserved in some other manner) who later thaw into culture shock, although a small percentage hail from the distant future where technology has allowed them to travel to various points in space and time. Regardless of who or where, these individuals are now stuck in the present with no chance of returning home. Time Travelers are completely human otherwise.

Creatures of the night, vampires are perhaps the most well-known of the Nightsiders given their prevalence in cinema, folklore, and various other works of fiction. Pop culture, however, presents only a half-truth. Vampires are not undead, do not wither against religious iconography, cannot transform into a bat, and can utilize mirrors just as well as any human. Blood must be consumed with some regularity, and going without progressively weakens the vampire until the thirst becomes nigh unbearable, at which point a vampire may attack indiscriminately. Feeding is considered a pleasurable experience and will increase a vampire's vitality, healing, and strengths. Sunlight is extremely dangerous but not immediately fatal, and simply avoiding direct exposure can prove sufficient enough to prevent severe burns, although ambient sunlight can potentially irritate the skin. Silver, too, is quite hazardous given a natural allergy to the substance, hence its historic usage as a weapon against vampires, and contact with a silver item will cause an inflammatory response. Vampires possess no magical abilities but are generally more powerful than the average human with heightened senses, moderately increased strength and speed, and a potent healing ability that allows an individual to survive even the most horrific of wounds (silver inhibits this healing ability). Vampires are not undying but age slowly and simply appear immortal. Humans consuming the blood of a vampire will temporarily gain a vampire's strengths, however, this reverse-feeding can become addictive over time. A human ingesting a vampire's blood after immediately being drained of their own will become a vampire themselves. Turned vampires are sterile and cannot have offspring or create more vampires.

Just as well-known as vampires, werewolves are commonly portrayed in media, literature, and folklore with a surprising degree of accuracy, and can best be described as humans forever struggling to contain an inner beast. Tied perpetually to the lunar calendar, a werewolf is most powerful when the moon is most full, and alternatively are at their weakest when the moon is absent. At sunset during the night of a full moon a werewolf will forcibly transform into a wolf-like monster whose only guidance is the primal urge to consume. The beast is immensely powerful, difficult to contain, and will attack indiscriminately with intent to kill. No memory is retained during these transformations and the ordeal can be quite unsettling, and as such many suffering from lycanthropy choose to isolate themselves during this time. Werewolves posses a heightened sense of smell (more so than a vampire), are physically stronger than the average human, can heal from most traumatic injuries given time, and like a vampire are deathly allergic to silver. Old or powerful werewolves can sometimes control their beast forms, and legend has it that some can transform at will. Humans surviving a werewolf attack will become one themselves, and can be cured if the offending werewolf is killed and its heart consumed. Although uncommon children can sometimes be born as werewolves if both parents suffer from lycanthropy.

Known well throughout history, and often persecuted, if not burned at the stake, a witch (or wizard) are humans born with magical powers that defy the preconceptions of what is and isn't possible, often at the detriment to the well established laws of physics. Although considered little more than a fringe religious cult in the modern era, true witchcraft is a complex and innate skill that can take a lifetime to master. Additionally, many variations of magic exist, from potion-making to conjuring to spells and hexes, and although an individual may show considerable skill in one area another may potentially be learned, but this is rarely so. A weak or young witch may also posses an item to serve as a conduit so as to better channel their magic such as a wand, staff, grimoire, or a familiar. The creation of a wand/staff/etc. is a slow and tedious process that requires access to materials not readily found, such as dragon scales or unicorn hair. Those reliant on a wand/staff/etc. will mostly be powerless should the item be misplaced or destroyed. More experienced individuals do not require a conduit. Magical abilities aside, a witch is completely human, but given the bloody history of their victimization most hide away their powers and practice in secret.

A Japanese yōkai associated most often with the wintertime and snowstorms, the Yuki-onna appears as a beautiful woman with black hair and pale skin; believed to be the spirit of a young maiden who tragically perished while lost in a blizzard and who now lures the unwary to a similar fate. There are many stories, but in reality the Yuki-onna is less a vengeful spirit and more a misunderstood individual in possession of vastly unique traits that, in feudal Japan or modern society, befit the life of an outcast. The most noticeable characteristic of the Yuki-onna is their ability to lower the surrounding temperature, creating a deep chill even on the hottest day, and while this ability cannot be controlled or stopped it can be affected by emotional state, often negatively. Secondly, being a yōkai the Yuki-onna can glimpse into the spirit world, thus allowing them to see ghosts and other entities unknown to the average human. Lastly, the Yuki-onna thrive in cold environments and are unaffected by even the most extreme of freezing temperatures. Heat, on the other hand, is uncomfortable and can sometimes be harmful depending on the severity. Aside from these peculiarities this yōkai is very much human. The origins of the Yuki-onna are unknown, as is how many exist in the world currently, but few have been encountered and fewer are seen outside their home country.

Popularized in the media, zombies are undead individuals that are biologically inert, thus requiring no food, water, or oxygen to survive, however, this means that the body is unable to heal itself (requiring manual repair). Interestingly, a zombie can replace damaged limbs (or other portions of the body) with no obvious downside aside from aesthetics. So long as the brain remains intact a zombie can theoretically live indefinitely. Unlike in the movies a zombie is not decayed (looking perfectly normal barring obvious injuries), was never a corpse buried in a graveyard, and has no desire to engorge itself on human flesh. Unfortunately, contact with a zombie through bites, intimacy, or other means can induce a violent illness in humans who will either overcome (thus immune) or will succumb (resurrecting as a zombie themselves), making human/zombie relations uncommon.

+Biologically Inert (No Food, Water, or Oxygen Required)
    +Can Co-Opt Body Parts
    +Practically Immortal
    -Biologically Inert (Does Not Heal)
    -Potential Biohazard

• This list can and will be updated.
• Additional Nightsiders can be suggested so long as they are not custom creations (folklore must exist IRL).

• OP reserves the right to modify suggested Nightsiders as seen fit.
• Blue is limited to one character (available). No exceptions.
• Red is limited to one character (unavailable). No exceptions.
Various supernatural creatures can be found inhabiting our world: gnomes, jackalopes, and unicorns to name but a few. Those encountered, discussed, or else mentioned in passing will be documented here.

Sunset Grove is an old building constructed sometime in the late-nineteenth century, reminiscent in design to a Victorian manor with three stories (plus a basement and attic), a burgundy-coloured brick facade covered in places by ivy, and an expansive grounds that, while not exactly overgrown, is in dire need of professional landscaping. The building has seen better days. The surrounding area is forested (offering some privacy) with a nondescript trail cutting through the underbrush, and several Ash and Oak trees can be found on the property alongside a small pond with a gazebo in need of TLC nearby. An outbuilding is in a similar state of deterioration; a small gravel lot on the side is used for parking, having enough space to accommodate a handful of vehicles.

The interior has fared slightly better but remains noticeably outdated. The main lobby needs new flooring as does the parlor and dining area (used for communal gatherings) and a fresh coat of paint wouldn't hurt. A dusty chandelier hangs overhead the main entranceway. Larger apartments are found on the ground floor (four bedrooms) with smaller apartments on the upper floors. The basement hosts the furnace, boiler, breaker box, etc., as well as smaller rooms for tenants with "special" requirements. The attic is open and used for storage. The apartments themselves are nothing special and need a long overdue update.

    • Below are the various facets of the apartment and their faults/upgrades. Will be updated accordingly.

    LAYOUT (Coming Soon)
Music used for the RP (background or otherwise) will be mentioned here for future listening. That being said, don't try to force music into the RP simply because you can, and its inclusion should be done meaningfully more often than not. Additionally, music your character is listening to should not exceed the current year IC.
Music, also, will be used to mark the beginning or end of various "Episodes" as seen fit by OP/Co-OP.

Any questions asked and answered that were not already covered in the OP will be documented here.

Finishing up a few bits and will be polishing others. Planning to go live tomorrow for Halloween. Any critique will be much appreciated. I do know that the Sunset Grove tab can be expanded upon and I plan to do just that when I can. App Example will also be cut from the final product.
