I have a new idea, it's called "Have Plasma Rifle, Will Fight for Food" and set in a Sci-fi frontier colony. It's a mix of space westerns and military sci-fi.

"I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery." - Thomas Jefferson, 1787
Welcome to the year 2067, and to the city of London. Formerly located in the United Kingdom, now located in the... State of Britain. The world's changed a lot in the past fifty years - the royals are no longer in power, and Britain is now the second smallest country in the world after every other country bar Switzerland has become a part of a larger centralized superstate. Resources becoming scarcer has forced nations to pool their assets together to keep things running smoothly, and former geopolitical tensions have been moved to the backburner and turned into regional concerns. Well, every country has become a part of a superstate except for Britain, which has used its old skill at trade to maintain its independence. The rest of the world grew more and more connected, while Britain grew further and further apart.

With that disconnect came the new British way of life. The British dependency on trade saw the rise of multinational conglomerates that based themselves in the country because of favorable laws, making it their base of operations and the heart of their development. Things changed in the government, and the corporations went right along with those changes; the extreme tensions between Britain and the European Bloc over the status of Northern Ireland among over things caused the State of Britain to become more and more on edge, more and more authoritarian, enacting more laws every year to give the government more power. The British Intelligence Agency was founded in 2054 to serve as a multi headed monster of an organization that could act as both spy and secret policeman for the government, and the corporations that had made the country their home went along with it.

The BIA called for privacy to disappear in Britain, and the corporations went along with it, with companies in every field from tech to social media selling out their clients and ensuring that the State of Britain would become the first real omnipresent government. And as technology improved and people became more connected through it, that government presence only increased. The introduction of System Identification Numbers, small chips implanted near the lower spine that are required for all citizens, marked the death knells of the last age, and of privacy and independence. Suddenly, everything from internet browsing to all travel was tracked and watched, and every major corporation was incorporating SIN cards into their services.

Those who illegally removed the cards would quickly find themselves as outcasts, unable to connect with others online and unable to use the cryptocurrency administered by the new central bank, the Bank of Britain. But as discontent grows with the tension and the surveillance state, and as the number of the invisible faction grows with each passing day, it's clear that things are about to change once more... And this time, those who start a revolution will have no name and no face.

Might I suggest that the software that runs the SIN cards be called "Big Brother"?

It'd be kinda cheeky, but still.

Sure, I'm always open to ideas with the details and right now I think the general theme is that all the authoritarianism is out and the open and it's been accepted by the people because of convenience. Think 1984. I've also decided to rename the BIA to the British Intelligence Department, because while I know right now the Brits use Ministry instead of Department, the acronym BID is somewhat memorable and rolls off the tongue well. The HERMES name doesn't really work either because, well, we aren't in the United Kingdom, we're in the State of Britain. The royals don't have power anymore in even a ceremonial position, all power has been centralized by the office of Chancellor, replacing Prime Minister and giving the PM more presidential type power.

First, you need to go to Tenessee, then you need to buy some there.

Accepted, now buy something or get out. :p

I'd recommend something like Ministry of Internal Affairs (MOIA) or simply Ministry of Domestic Intelligence. (MODI).
If you want, I'd be willing to throw together some ideas about the coppers if you want after Thursday. I'd love to write something like this.

Here's more from the OP of Ruled Britannia. You can see the system I have planned for combat here, as well as the way the actual story will work.

What is this, and how is it different from other threads?
This is a cyberpunk RPG meant to be as challenging and tense as it is fun. You'll find yourselves outmanned, outgunned, and beat in the technology category until very late in the thread, when things grow a bit more even due to advances made in early scenarios. Still, there's some light at the end of the tunnel for your little group, but it's going to be a challenge to reach it. Another part of this challenge is that the RP has a slightly different system than most. In combat with enemy factions, more challenge will be added through the use of dice. Various enemies will have various strength levels based on their equipment and training, and these various enemies will be more or less difficult to hit depending on who they are. D10 dice will be rolled by the OP and co-OPs in combat after users attempt actions against enemies, and each one will have a certain chance of success.

Wounding a soldier in heavy power armor with small arms might require, say, a seven out of ten, and would in other words have a difficulty of seventy percent. On the other hand, killing a lightly armored enemy in close combat with a melee weapon might have a twenty percent difficulty, and would only require a roll of two or higher. The dice also apply to the enemy. How you decide to play the game and how you arm and outfit your characters will have an impact on things. Want to load up with armor for more protection? Enemies would require a higher roll to wound you, but your movement will suffer and it's hard to sneak around or disappear into a crowd while using combat gear. On the other hand, you could blend in more with the civilian crowd, making you easier to hit but allowing you to take on a more stealth style in combat and even avoid detection entirely at certain times. Your weaponry will also affect the difficulties you face, and you will have more and more options with this as the thread continues. The choice of what style to pick is up to you, just remember that it has consequences.

How does this thread work?
The format of this thread is something of a combination of a semi open world and a story based one. There will be distinct periods, and you will always be aware of which stage of the thread we're in. These stages will have different types. There will be times when you can go on side missions that will affect the main story, and these missions are far more open ended than the main part of the thread and can even be suggested by players. However, don't take them too lightly. What you do in the city outside of the main missions will still affect things and can come back to bite you later. There's also story events, which are the other type of stage. When the thread is in this stage, you'll see most of the characters come together for one or two major operations that move the story of the revolution along. These ones have the most consequences, and the most direct consequences too.

After each story event, there will also be a recap representing what's been gained and lost. Sometimes, this will come in the form of new technology and new weaponry that's available. Other times, it will come in the form of updates on the situation of the revolution. Win big, and you'll see the progress meter move closer and closer to anarchy. Slip up, and expect to see your enemies capitalize on your mistakes. Your actions will directly affect the outcome of the story, and you'll see this at the end of every story event.

Too lazy to press a button? Peh. I came for the existential cosmic horror of pub food dammit and by god I'm getting it.

And if you need cooks (read: OPs) then I have a pretty cool idea in mind.

Should we have a Pub RP? Like, we actually have an IC where we let the OOC stuff carry into actual events? Personified Pub members allude to OOC happenings because. well, they're actually in both realities?

EDIT: Also, here's a quick OOC Post Rough Draft for an upcoming RP I'm creating called Assassin's Creed: Internecion. It's in extremely rough draft form, no art nor special formatting yet, but it's pretty much in place to be used as soon as I do have everything up. I'm wanting some help though with background stuff if possible.
The year is 1890, and the world heaves violently beneath the heavens. Writhing in the death throes of its own recent loss of power, the Ottoman Empire has begun to reconsolidate its power beneath a new Sheik, a new Sultan. Across the empire, minorities are calling for an end to ages of oppression, systematic and methodical, the Sultanate takes offense to the cries for reform, and carries out their own plans. Spurned on by unknown forces, the Sultanate begins an ethnic cleansing of the local Christian minorities, turning up the heat day-by-day until they can bear it quietly no more.

It is July 27, 1890. Armenians across Constantinople have turned out in force, attending the demonstration against the Sultanate, attempting to garner the attention of those whom can instill change through the ailing Empire. Forces beyond control, at war with one another since the dawning of man, rage behind the curtains of their respective causes and fire threatens to break out from the sparks that are sure to fly.

The Assassin Brotherhood, disciples to the Creed and believers in the total Freedom of Humanity, lie in the shadows, pushed to the side by the overwhelming power of the Templar Order. A conflict raging since the early days of the Crusades, and perhaps even earlier, the Assassin Brotherhood has in recent years lost ground in the global war on the Templar threat, an ominous organization with influential and powerful members throughout Human societies the world over.

The resulting fighting and infighting amongst the threadbare Brotherhood has led to almost unchallenged expansion on the behalf of the Templar Order, spies lie in every corner and the Assassin Brotherhood lies ruined and strewn across the world. Now, in the ancient and massive city of Constantinople, the Brotherhood mounts a desperate last offensive against the gathering strength of the Order as Templars of all rank and file now begin to gather in the city for an unknown cause.

Even as the Templars gather their strength, so too have they effectively flexed their muscles against the Brotherhood, pushing them to the edge of their limits and back. With allies in short supply, the Brotherhood has retreated into the Armenian ghettoes across the city, seeking refuge amongst the many oppressed peoples living under the totalitarian rule of the Sultan. What lies ahead is years of bloody warfare, but for now the Brotherhood must support whom they can, and regain the glory and power of a Brotherhood near as old as Human civilization itself… if not older.

Welcome to Assassin’s Creed: Internecion.

When we last saw the Brotherhood in Constantinople, we saw an organization that had grown strong, but as the influence of the Templars the world over grew, so too did their strength and now all that remains of the once powerful Brotherhood are its ruins and the few remaining homes of the Brotherhood’s most influential sites. Places such as Constantinople, Florence, Philadelphia, and London, lie as the last of the major Strongholds of the Assassin presence, and even then they face the growing persecution of a newly rejuvenated and practically resurrected Templar Order.

Constantinople is no exception. With the growth of calls for reformation of the Ottoman Empire from minorities such as the Armenian Christians, the production of a democratic state under the watchful eye of the Assassin’s almost seemed a certainty, until the Order showed itself. Now run under the power of the elusive and dangerous Templar Agent, Oclan Batuk, Prussian oversight has lead the Templars to begin enforcing a growing trend of persecution of the minorities, citing their growing unrest as a just cause for their culling. As frustrations continue to mount between the Empire and the Armenians, everything in the city of Constantinople is beginning to reach a boiling point. Armenians lay dead in the streets, dying in their homes, and starving across the city. Subpar treatment alongside the brutal maiming and executions are commonplace as the police raid various Armenian homes throughout the city.

The city is at a breaking point, a powder keg for a conflagration to break out and embroil the whole of the Empire in a debilitating civil war. The Order is no doubt behind the sinister plots and orders for the massacre of the innocent, a flexing of their power and a means to find those loyal to the Templar cause. Loyal to the forces of order, reason, and total power over Humanity. Recruits flock to the sides of notable Templar Agent Oclan Batuk and his cohorts every day across the Empire and threaten to serve as the front to a new and unified front against the previously untouchable Assassin Brotherhood. As systematic house-to-house raids continue to be carried out, the Assassin Brotherhood faces the threat of detection, if not exposure, to their foes and must remain ever on the move. No safehouse fortified enough, no bastion secluded enough, no sanctuary holy enough, to keep the ever relentless and ruthless horde of the Templar-sympathizing Ottoman Empire at bay.

This is slaughter. This is massacre. This is Internecion.

Character Short Bio: Leader of the Assassin Brotherhood in Constantinople, he was recently named master when a Templar raid in 1887 saw the death of the previous master of the brothers and sisters in Constantinople. Ordinary in appearance, extraordinary in ability and wisdom, he is the visionary leader of the Assassin Brotherhood without dispute and has become the strategist behind the curtain of Assassin operations across the city.
Character Background: Born in the city of Constantinople to Armenian citizens of the Ottoman Empire, sometime in early 1855, he was orphaned by a breakout of disease and sickness in the Armenian slums and the eventual suppression of the disease by Ottoman police forces would have left him dead too, had he not been picked up by the Assassins of the local chapter.

Raised in the tutelage of the Assassin Brotherhood, he became a devoted follower of the Creed, upholding its tenants to the utmost capability, and atoning for the breaking of it when he did. Perfecting his skills on the streets as a performance artist in the upper-class neighborhoods of Constantinople, he gained favor among many as a party-entertainer and managed to secure his first assassination contract when he was informed of his booking at a significant event in the upper city. Waiting for the height of the party, he managed to discreetly administer poison to his target, a high-ranking Templar foreign official, and eluded capture afterwards without breaking cover.

Used over the course of his adolescent and teenage years as a covert assassin, he racked up an impressive kill tally, but also watched as many of his brothers and sisters were captured, interrogated, tortured, and even executed by the Templars of the Ottoman Empire. Throughout the latter points of his teenage years, he ended up finding that many of the once infested Templar strongholds had been successfully wiped out and thus took part in a period of unprecedented calm in the 1880’s for three years known now as ‘The Quiet’. In 1886, ‘The Quiet’ was broken by the sounds of the Armenian quarters of the city being broken up, police force sympathetic to foreign Templar control had begun the hunt for the Assassin Brotherhood. Over the course of almost five years of constant running, the majority of the Brotherhood in Constantinople was wiped out at the hands of the Ottoman police forces, military, and ultimately the Templar Agents and Recruits in their grasp.

Now, rallying behind the newly appointed master of the Brotherhood, Arek holds the fate of the ailing, weak, and underpowered Brotherhood in his grasp. It is his to rebuild and rebuild it he shall, through the blood, sweat, and tears pledged to him. There is only one chance to save the Brotherhood, this is it, he cannot let his opportunities go to waste now and rallying alongside his native Armenian brothers outside of the Brotherhood, he has begun to use the Assassin’s as a private security force, acting against Templar agents attempting to sow further unrest amongst the populace.

Character Short Story: The diner had only been open for a few minutes before the man walked in. It was the same outfit as always, a dusty old suit and the same black tie. Everything ironed and pressed with a black flat caddy cap perched atop a head of long brown hair. Flecks of silvery-grey could be seen from across the dining area as he went to his usual seat in the corner booth. It was an uneventful morning as usual, the woman from down the street who washed her clothes every evening and let them dry in the heat of the summer nights walked in and sat down at the countertop. One by one each member of the neighborhood filtered in and out as they always did. There was little to suspect on a morning so peaceful and falsely idyllic in the wake of the horror of recent life in Armenian Constantinople.

How so many wished for the days when the younger ones hadn’t relished the opportunity to try and rebel, to demonstrate. It’d only caused the Sultan’s anger and the older teachers seemed to only inflame the anger of the Ottoman Turks, bringing down the militant police force in violent anger and protest to their ways. Reform and protest were things seen as out of line for those as inhuman as Armenians. Simple barbarism ruled in the place of calm collection and proper administration of justice. The fear of being overrun by some extremist group hiding in the shadows had the Sultan turning over every stone he could in Constantinople by his most loyal Captains.

Today, this morning, it was the turn of the diner to become a place of terror and utter destruction as the street suddenly erupted into panic and a troupe of men in Ottoman police uniforms came riding in on horseback. Jumping off of their mounts, gunshots echoed into the air as long-pistols were fired and rifles seized. Swords hung in their open sheathes at the sides of every officer as they fanned out and secured something of a perimeter. They were well-rehearsed, they were organized. The silvery-crosses of an Order long thought dead hung from the shirts of every one along their many other medals. While it could be mistaken for some sort of Prussian decoration, some along the street knew otherwise.

The doors to the diner flew open as the men filed in, laughing raucously as they brought the butts of their rifles into the glass pastry display by the edge of the diner. The Armenian locale had been somewhat modernized by the owners, but now it was being torn apart. An older couple huddled in the corner as they feared the violent outbursts of the Ottomans raiding the store. Tables were being flipped and as they approached the older man behind the counter, a weapon was leveled at his head as the policemen ordered him to step out from behind the counter. Fumbling to do so, the sound of the hammer being cocked back brought back a vicious series of tremors in the fumbling old man’s hands.

Trying desperately, he was almost crying as he tried to undo the latch and then tried to climb over. The display of futile subservience encouraged only laughter among the raiders and as the trigger finger began to depress, an explosion of activity at the edge of the restaurant sent the shot wild and into the display of old photos on display. Turning to try and discover the source of the disturbance, a sharp pain in the chest of the officer had him looking in confusion at the old man pointing at him. His vision blurring at the edges as he suddenly felt very heavy, the Templar-affiliated policeman let his vision fall to his chest, his neck heavy under the weight of his now very heavy head. The knife protruding from it was strange, he’d never seen it before.

Another Templar recruit lifted his hand to point an accusatory finger at the old man now standing beside the table, where two other men had dropped, pools of blood staining their clothes and gathering on the ground around their corpses. A single word was shouted out across the empty space before suddenly the entire diner erupted into activity.

“Assassin!”

Gunfire imploded the windows of the diner as a small group of onlookers suddenly dispersed to reveal the two culprits that had emptied their revolvers into the diner. As the ten bodies of the dying Templars littered the floor of the diner, a door behind the counter of the diner shop opened up and a group of men wearing traditional, long white robes, stained with red dye along a central point, emerged and grabbed each of the bodies and pulled them into the chamber beyond. The old man behind the counter let out a sigh and stared angrily towards the old man standing in the corner.

“Arek, I appreciate the aid of your men, but this is beginning to become a bit much. The officers came straight here this time, I think they’re catching on.”

“And we’ll continue to slaughter them each time, so too with each time they visit do we enhance the responsiveness of our counterattack. Their raids penetrate into this territory only to result in missing soldiers. The Brotherhood thanks you for your service, but if you feel we must go, I can part with this place.” The old man looked around the old store, the shattered photos garnering an extra moment of his attention before he let his gaze carry on along the walls of the old diner,” do you think she would have removed us for simply raising a little trouble?”

“Don’t you bring her into this, what happened to her was an accident, I don’t care how much you want me to believe she was one of you. I give you shelter here because you pay well and I still need to finish buying off this place from the property managers and the bank.”

“Alright Yalin, alright. We’ll pay you for your trouble, restore your shop to its condition before our arrival and give you our leave. Please, no matter what you do though, don’t tell anyone of our having been here. It wouldn’t end well for you-“

“Are you threatening me Arek? After everything we’ve been through?”

“No, I’m warning you. The Templars consider all who know of their existence a liability outside of their own order. They will kill you if you confess to hiding us, and they’ll destroy this place too. They already are looking to kill the last of the Armenians here, you may be a Turkish man, but you live amongst us of the Armenian ghettoes. You are no better than the rest of us here.”

A disgruntled sigh elicited the resignation of the old man now standing by the counter. Taking the pouch of gold handed to him, he turned and walked back behind the wall that hid the assassin hideaway. Looking into the darkness, he turned back towards Arek,” what of my diner? What if they discover th-“

As fast as the old man had appeared and moved, so too had he gone. Men entering the building were already removing the broken glass and blood staining the floor as the bodies had been moved away. By the end of the day, the work had been done and the diner had been restored to its old self. Staring at the building from the rooftop of a nearby home, Arek couldn’t help but feel a twinge of pain in his heart. The Templars would never stop hunting for him, they would turn the city upside down, slaughtering the innocent in their hunt for his brotherhood, but it was all they could do to survive the raids on their own. It took so much preparation and work. With yet another safehouse gone, he felt the loss personally. The man, Yalin, had been a longtime ally of the Brotherhood, but the inability of it to stop the violence on the streets against the Armenians had punctuated its weakness in the wake of the purging of Constantinople.

No more was this going to happen, this had to stop. No more would he run. No more would his brothers and sisters run. This was just a minor setback, and as he grasped in his hand the small token he’d once held of his lover, he let if drop back to his side. Yalin, his brother-in-law would be fine. A Turkish citizen would not be killed by soldiers nor policemen so long as he played his cards right, and he’d survived this long. No, he’d be fine. If only the same could be said for his late wife… Arek’s sister, or at least the closest he’d ever had to one in the brotherhood. He’d been there for the wedding, the announcement of her egress from the order, and he’d also been there to witness the Templars light her aflame in the tower they’d interrogated her in. Burning her alive to desecrate her body. He’d killed every single one of the brutes he’d found in response, but it never seemed like enough. It never was enough.

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted. No one is safe. Nothing is sacred.

Yes, Kass, I'm in the process of making one, it's called the Pubsmen, like the Kingsman movie. Except that Pub members can become agents.

Still in the summary story with Shadowwell, but hopefully it's all good and completed this year.

Cold fish and chips is basically grounds for arrest here in England.
Yo, that's mad.
