Anyways, an RP I tried to make a long time ago was an open form Colonization-attempt gone wrong with people waking up from cryo initially in various states of being ejected from the ailing ship. They end up having to run fro ma semi-sentient alien life-form that has a proto-alien zombie form that corrupts everything and would force everyone to try and pursue the best way to get either, away from the alien, or to fight it.

PREMISE: Essentially a modern gritty take on pokemon that removes the happy go lucky innocence of the series and inserts real life problems and scenarios for players to overcome with their pokemon. From social realities, geopolitics, crime, even death, trainers will have to bond with each other and their pokemon like they never have before to overcome these obstacles and become the very best.

PROVIDE A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE RP:
Set within the Pokemon world, the harsh realities of life are realized through a larger fleshing out of how society, culture, and politics runs in a pokemon world. Children of the "Republic" (have not figured a proper name yet.) Are given a free starter pokemon at the age of 10 and are put through a unique educational program in which they are allowed to roam the countryside training pokemon while trying to catch them all.

Piggy backed on this is a chance for the children to help research these creatures who live side by side with humans with a pokedex. Trainers travel far and wide across the Republic which is broken into regions and dotted with pokemon centers to look after the well being of pokemon and these young trainers who are off on their own. This is a largely government funded program that pays for the security of the routes the children train on and the pokemon center mentors that protect their well being.

Trainers will sometimes continue this journey for longer than their childhood which has lead to a decreased participation in the job market for young adults who only seem to want to train pokemon and be the best at various leagues throughout the country. But the industry for Pokemon gear and media is staggering and automation has filled the gap to largely make up for this lack of participation.

Meanwhile crime is on the rise as Team Rocket, a large organized crime syndicate begins a campaign to capture and sell pokemon (an illegal practice in the Republic. In which all pokemon must be caught by the trainer in the wild or hatched by the trainer.) Team Rocket targets these children who they view to be easy targets, and recently have begun kidnapping them for ransom. Government officials and police begin to investigate but are soon distracted by something of an international scale.

The enemy of the Republic, the Empire (again, name to come soon) has begun creating problems for Republic diplomats as border disputes between the two nations break out at an international forum. Armies of the Empire which feature soldiers and their powerful pokemon have begun to assemble on the frontier and war could very well become a possibility for the republic.

The plot would center around a group of trainers (player characters) who are visiting a local Pokemon Lab and helping research for a professor. Team Rocket or maybe even Empire Special forces (Red Team?) infiltrate said lab and kidnap the professor to do research for them. Players while gaining gym badges are also faced with the harsh realities of life in a pokemon world as they fend of Team Rocket, the Empire, or maybe even more real life challenges.

PREMISE: Survivors of a horrific colonization experiment gone wrong have to survive on a distant alien planet with little to no available resources. To make matters worse, they're not the only ones who landed, as the mutated virus/fungal strain that affected the ship and caused it to crash also now lies on the planetary surface.

PROVIDE A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE RP: It's been almost one hundred years of nonstop interstellar travel from Earth to the distant Star Nebulae known as the Valhalla cluster. Set to enter and orbit the planet of Daedalus in the Helios Alpha star system. Plans, however, change rapidly as a science experiment affected by an unforeseen mutation during a lab test breaks free of its containment and shuts down the ship's life support successfully, killing all but itself on board that weren't in their cryo-pods. As dozens lie dead or dying, the fungus sets to work using their biomass to slowly build itself up, and begin trying to find a way to expand. Then the colony ship, unable to slow itself down in time to enter a stable orbit, enters Daedalus' atmosphere and begins to break up on reentry. In a last ditch effort to save the colonists, the shipboard AI, monitoring the events the whole time wakes two crew members in the command section who manage to eject the cryo-pods from the main ship before ejecting the command shuttle from the ship. The AI, however, notes also that a shuttle attached to the station in the infected area successfully manages to undock and reenter the atmosphere at a skewed angle. Watching it disappear into the distance, it's all the AI can do to calculate a probably landing site near the center of the continent of the world the colony ship crashes on before it too must finally remove itself from the mainframe and be taken aboard the command shuttle.

Players will wake up at various points after the life-pods/cryo-pods have been launched, their goal is to work together (or by themselves if they so want) to try and survive this hostile and alien new world... and it is very hostile. Will you run, will you fight, or will you give in, to the fate that awaits the planet Daedalus?

So, this isn't anything really definite, but here's an idea I've been sitting on for a while. None of this is particularly definite, but I wanted to get it out of my head and jotted down somewhere to see if it's any good. Got kind of a lukewarm response on the Discord pitch, but I wasn't really feeling it at that point, so here's a more coherent idea of what I was proposing.

The basic explanation is that World War One simply never ended. It drug on and on, despite all reason to the contrary. Nobody is quite sure anymore what the war is really about, all that anyone really knows anymore is that they're fighting to win the war.

The plot would focus on an espionage plot by the North American Union (I'll get to that) to destabilize the Greater German Reich and their allies and, god willing, bring peace to the world.

The world of 1941 is strange. Under the pressure cooker conditions of constant conflict, most major nations have either fallen, radicalized or collapsed entirely. Technology has both stagnated and advanced, resulting in a mixture of old and new. Trench warfare remains the name of the game, now supplemented by blitzkrieg and armored personnel carriers. Massive siege tanks, zeppelins and powered armor have become commonplace on the battlefield. With much of the world fractured and in constant flux, the conditions for the splitting of the atom never arrive. Thus, biological and chemical warfare have become the nuclear analogues.

That's the most basic way of describing it, but here's the lore I've cooked up thus far.

The current state of the world, as of 1941.
More than two decades of world war have fundamentally changed the geo-political landscape. The Entente now consists of a shattered United States, The British Imperial Union, the Scandinavian Imperium, the People's Balkan Republics, and the South American Coalition. The Central Powers currently include the Greater German Reich, the Federal Republic of Afrika, and the Reformed Roman Republic. In the east lies the Sino-Soviet Union and the United Asian Prosperity Sphere, with the Communists fighting virtually everyone and the UAPS remaining one of the only neutral groups on the planet.

The state of the former United States, as of 1941.
The United States entered the war late, but quickly found itself fettered to corpses. The French had been effectively bled dry into capitulation, while Britain was on her last legs. Forced to shoulder the weight of the Entente, the United States eventually collapsed into an economic slump during the German conquests of Spain and West Africa. This led to a resurgence in the Confederate Rebellion, the secession of Texas and California, and a revolt by native American tribes in the Southwest. The Californian Dominion fell to Communism soon after it's establishment, becoming a puppet to the Sino-Soviet Union. Texas remains independent, though locked in a constant guerilla war with the neighboring Apache Confederation. The New American Confederacy allied with the Kaiser, seeing the opportunity to return the South to it's Antebellum-era prosperity. With enemies on all sides, the United States formed an alliance with a disillusioned Canada to create the North American Union.


The British Imperial Union:

The economic cost of the Great War and the capitulation of France in 1920 have cost England dearly. Facing widespread food shortages due to German submarine attacks, the country become a prime location for the next Communist revolt. In opposition, however, the government began to adopt increasingly authoritarian policies. Restrictions on freedom of speech, movement and association were established. Domestic security organizations become secret police and eventually the British Isles fell to their own brand of Fascism. Facing a potential German naval invasion of the Islands, the new Imperial Union became a marshall nation akin to this timeline's North Korea. That is, of course, with the caveat that North Korea never had the naval capacity of the British Empire. Naval warfare is constant around the home islands, while the Imperial Expeditionary Force has sought to ensure a constant stream of supplies from colonies across the planet. The German war machine marches on, however, and it is not uncommon for coastal cities to be struck by mustard gas shells or Anthrax powder from Zeppelins.

The Greater German Reich:

Germany, on the other hand, is now an economic and military powerhouse. It maintains holdings from West Afrika to the Sino-Soviet border. The victory against the French bolstered German resolve, and in a perpetual state of war with the Imperial Union, it was forced to seek resources in lands as far as South America. Their plans were foiled, unfortunately, by the formation of the South American Coalition and the subsequent opening of the South American front in 1922. In the East laid the Reich's greatest threat, however. The Sino-Soviet Union. Bolstering an immense military and a penchant for fostering Communist thought across the planet, the Union remains an even greater threat than the shattered allies. Life within the Reich remains rather peaceful, however, thanks in part to an alliance with the Fascist Reformed Roman Republic. While rationing is still common and military service a requirement for citizenship, the Reich maintains the world's highest war-time standard of living, only beaten out by the UAPS.

The Reformed Roman Republic:

The Republic is, for all intents and purposes, the breadbasket of the Central Powers war effort. Italy, once a proud member of the Entente, sought peace with the Reich after the fall of France. Despite attempts by the Sino-Soviet Union and the Entente to court the nation back into their power, the Italians saw the writing on the wall and became the war's turncoats. They were hated, even as far as the UAPS for their betrayal, but the Italians used their new alliance to forge a war industry to rival even that of the North American Union. They turned their attentions on the Middle East, whose vast oil reserves lied in the hands of the British. In a multi-front offensive, the Republic secured much of the Fertile crescent and East Africa. The battle for the Middle Eastern oil reserves rages on, leaving most of the Republic's colonial provinces in states of constant conflict, be it from Entente zeppelin raids or Communist revolutionaries. In Italy proper, war-time life is much akin to the Reich. That is, of course, excluding the constant underground war between the Communist revolutionaries and the government.

The United Asian Prosperity Sphere:

Ever the opportunists, Japan entered the war to safely secure German holdings in the Pacific. These conquests eventually extended to Siam, and, with the fall of France, Indochina. As the German military swallowed up much of Europe, Japan and it's allies swallowed up much of Asia. Even the Dutch East Indies were not beyond their grasp, and the collapse of the United States allowed the easy securing of the Philippines. By the mid 1920s, the United Asian Prosperity Sphere was one of the most economically and militarily powerful nations in the East. Even the British could not stop their expansion, instead electing to leave Australia and Oceania to Japanese subjugation. All seemed well; the people were fed, the army was well staffed, and industry was better than ever. It seemed no nation could stand against Japan and her allies. No nation, until China fell to Communism. Backed by Soviet forces and armaments, the Chinese communists thundered into Asia. The warlords were defeated, China was unified, and in an unprecedented move, the Sino-Soviet alliance was born. Japan now found itself fighting a multi-front war against Communist aggression, and with revolutionary Marxist movements growing in their subjugated states, the UAPS seems poised to fall to the red menace. Despite all this, life in the home islands remains relatively calm, while intense fighting drags on and on in the mainland.

Welcome the the Frontier, the edge of civilised space. A place where people attempt to create new lives for them selves after the horrors of the War, a place for those for whom the was never really ended.
