Chronicles of Los Santanas

Theme

Los Santanas, California. Founded in the late 1700s by Spanish Colonials, it has a long and rich history, culminating in becoming the most populous city in North America in the year of 1975. Coincidentally the same year in which Meta-Human populations started to balloon. As of current, there were an assumed 18 Meta-Humans for every 200 US citizens. Enough to be an everyday occurrence in most places in the US, but not enough to be so common as to be a worry. At least it shouldn't have.

In late 1989, a small group of Meta-Humans broke in to a Nuclear Silo near Bismarck North Dakota with the intent of launching it at the USSR. Though the US government was not capable of responding in time for to prevent launch, they didn't need to, an anonymous team of Meta-Humans raided the facility in time to stop the launch from continuing, and detaining everyone involved with the plot within the silo. Although the US never learned their names, the radio transmissions between the team were recorded, Atlas, Jaeger, Nexus and Chrono. Four heroes who stopped the apocalypse, and disappeared just as quickly.

It was this event that lead to the UN signing of 'The Bismarck Accords' a binding resolution outlining the difference and regulations between Meta-Human Vigilantism and Policing, allowing Meta-Humans to use their powers to assist law enforcement in the capturing and detainment of criminals, with the exchange of being held to the same rules and regulations as normal law enforcement officers.

Over the next five years, the four heroes who saved the world from a nuclear holocaust reappeared across the continental US, none of them becoming member of organized law enforcement, but their reputation stopping them from being arrested. Until they stopped showing up completely at the turn of the century. No appearances were made by any of the quartet. Until 2012 when Chrono finally revealed herself and signed on as a member of the Los Santana's Meta-Regulation Department. It's where she remains, tight lipped as ever on the location of her former friends.

Yet all around stand men, women, and children spurred on by their example, ready to fight and serve for justice, vigilante or not, Meta-Human or not, they all stand for a common goal. The cessation of villainy and crime within their home. But they aren't the only ones with plans, those with their own goals stand to test both their own and the city's mettle. In an attempt to simply change the world to their own view, or through societal detachment, they wish ill on the heroes of a new age.

Welcome to Chronicles of Los Santanas, an attempt by myself to use the experience I gained over the past few years, to revisit and recapture the first RP I ran in a new light. Taking place in the fictional expy of Los Angeles, you will play as either a hero villan, or someone in between vying for their own goals or the general goals of a group. Players are requested to give and take, not even superman was infallible no one should be stomping down everyone in every fight. And while the US Government and the UN like to leave the actual Meta on Meta fighting alone, they are fully capable of fighting and killing any Meta though at a large cost of life.

And while the RP will primarily take place in Los Santanas, there will be possibilities to wander out for small periods of time to pursue objectives that would fit within a metro area, like hidden bunkers or deep sea structures.

But we have more to cover:

• 1. No Godmodding/Meta-Gaming: This can be defined as playing your character without limitations or having your character know things they couldn't possibly know.
• 2. Don't be a dick in the OOC: You can have your character be an aggressive and smarter version of a certain political candidate in the IC. But the moment you act like a dick in the OOC thread you'll get a warning.
• 3. No One Liners: Three full lines of text per each IC post, anything less is frowned upon and is generally laziness and will not be accepted. Anything greater is acceptable and is smiled upon.
• 4. No 'Dick measuring' contests: The moment two of you start arguing over which character is better, and it doesn't contribute to goings on in the IC. You'll both get a warning.
• 5. For the love of god keep it PG-13: This is a general site rule, and while PG-13 is a blurred line nowadays, the rules of thumb are: nothing sexually explicit, and nothing overly violent. This is a place to role play as a superhuman, not write out deviant fantasies.
• 6. No multicolor or odd dialogue: No colored text, and no italicized/bolded/underlines paragraphs. Reserve them for actual use instead of using them for everything (If you must know, it's a health hazard to those with photosensitive epilepsy. So don't do it).
• 7. If you have a problem with a player, take it to TG. If that does not work, bring it to the OP or a CoOP's attention. Do not turn the OOC thread into chaos.
• 8. You have a 72 hour grace period to post if you're holding someone back, after that your character will be forced to move on by the OP or Co-Op. Failure to return will result in character death.
• 9. Don't just write for yourself, other want to get involved as well. I realize it's human nature, but try to involve other people's ideas, themes, and characters. A major part in RPing is having other people, don't turn them away or cast a blind eye.

On March 22nd 2017, NASA reported several objects within the asteroid belt with a very likely collision course with earth itself. A month later it's noted that the objects changed direction. In a way in which was a physical impossibility. NASA's concludes that an outside force is directing them to Earth, they also promptly conclude that the adjustment of heading indicates a very high and almost confirmed chance of impact. NASA and the US government decide to keep the news of possible human extinction hidden from the world until it can be determined if something can be done.

By late summer, amateur astronomists and the ESA discover the approach of the objects. After multiple question popping up in multiple forums of media, NASA finally decides to break the ice. Humanity may well be facing it's final months. Multiple riots break out globally... but in general things remain calm. A majority of humanity is resigned to their fate. Willing to live out these final days in peace with their loved ones. The economy all bu ceases as general productivity slows down.

On the 1st of August 2017, Sir Arthur Charles Clarke posthumously received his answer. Humanity was not alone. The objects on course with earth simply cease forward movement, now simply moving in tandem with Earth. NASA rescinds their previous statement, providing the new revelations. Things get arguably worse as the world gears for a different end... It arms itself for the worst.

First contact is disastrous. One of the four objects that enter orbit is struck almost immediately by an Israeli ICBM, forced to make a very shoddy landfall near Mecca. The second is almost immediately beset upon US forces from Camp Lemonnier in the city of Mogadishu. The third makes land fall near the Georgian Russian border, and Russian forces begin to make mass casualties from the encroaching ET forces. Though ground is gained it is gained at tremendous loss.

The final ship makes landfall In Sicily and immediately goes dormant in an attempt to mask itself. It fails, and Italy invokes Article 5 of NATO. Only the US responds with armed forces, nearly the whole rest of NATO pleads for an attempt at peaceful de-escalation. The UN hops on the band wagon with an emergency meeting. Asking for an immediate ceasefire in an attempt to salvage, the UN General Assembly threatens Israel, Russia and the US with harsh sanctioning.

On the night of August 16th 2017, the last bullet is fired between Human military forces and Haelid Colonial Security Teams. Later that night, proper first contact was made. And in that moment, the Information Era ended, and the Space Era began.

Over the next eighteen moths, humanity began a process to create a unifying body to control human establishment in the final frontier, aided technology wise by their new extra-terrestrial 'friends'. Though it was not without friction, many Haelids were not happy with the fact the sixteen thousand of their number perished upon their landfall, most of which civilians. And the religious members of humanity did not like the implications of an alien species dweeling -albeit temporarily- upon their God given home.

Despite these setbacks, humanity began a peaceful transition to the stars, settling both Luna and Mars, and eventually setting up mines on Europa and Titan. In 2022 their first FTL drive was completed thanks to a little nudging from the Haelids, In fact, the Haelids did a lot of nudging. In obvious sight, many knew that humanity was being uplifted. Though due to the already technologically passive nature of humanity, it was not as stressful as one would have believed. Though humanity shouldn't have been focused on the actions, so much as the reason.

In 2033 Humanity placed their first step on an alien garden world. The mostly aquatic capital of the Haelids, to ratify and complete a set of treaties to ensure joint protection when humanity no longer needed guidance. It was there that humanity discovered the reason for their uplifting. Their history was unique, from forging monuments from stone the size of skyscrapers, to dropping hundreds of nuclear weapons in their only biospehere, to their genetic diversity and malleability. Humanity was now unwillingly in a state of interplanetary war.

Despite the general consensus of this being a dick move by humanity, most world leaders were eager to strut humanity's stuff. War was now a necessity, and the old quote holds true "Necessity is the mother of invention."

The current year is 2044, humanity is at it's peak, and is only climbing. The Haelids stand at humanity's back, ready to push together against an unyielding opponenet. And Humanity is about to step into the light of the galactic stage.

And you, the members of the First Fleet, 222nd Orbital Raider Battalion, will be it's heralds.

Welcome to War In Heaven, a Sci-Fi RP based around humanity's first steps on to the galactic frontier, supported by it's own fledgling Navy, and the Haelids who uplifted them, you will be playing as members of the 222nd Orbital Raider Battalion, the best soldiers that United Earth can muster. From a variety of backgrounds, nationalities, and religions, you are what stands between humanity being a viable force in the galaxy, and being stomped under the boot of the Felyim aggressors who threaten your new way of life.

• Bushmaster M611: Crafted by the North American company of Bushmaster, the M611 is gas piston operated fully automatic firearm firing a 6.5mm Grendel round. It is the general issue rifle of the United Terran Armed Forces. With a variety of attachments available, it can fill a number of rolls from DMRs (with longer barrels and a scope), to SAWs (with a tungsten lined barrel and a drum magazine). DMR and SAW Variants are usually deployed on a squad level.
• IWI Hammer XI: Developed by Israeli Weapins Industry, the Hammer II is an improved version of their older Desert Eagle, and the standard issue firearm of the UTAF. Firing 12.7x40mm HE rounds, it packs a punch capable of taking down most earth born game and a good number of ET targets.
• PGM Hecate IV: The next step in the evolutionary chain of anti material rifles, the Hecate IV fires a 5mm steel slug at mach 10. Capable of ripping through all but heavy armored vehicles, it's used as a long range sniper and anti vehicle roles. It is usually only deployed on a platoon level.
• Sinoviet Firefall: A fully automatic shotgun firing 8 Gauge Magnum buckshot, the Firefall was created by the Lunar based company of Sinoviet Firearms. Usually carried among station security forces and used by engineering teams in the void due to it's recoil mitigation system. It's known among ground forces as 'The Gibstick' usually deployed on a squad level to aid in urban environments, it is not a weapon to be trifled with.
• Toronto Heavy Industries Hellfire: An incendiary device manufactured by by a hazardous chemical manufacturere in Toronto. The Hellfire has a 50 liter self armored drum containing ClF3, a chemical known for being able to immolate concrete and asbestos. It's capable of projecting a stream of fire up to 150 feet away. Usually only deployed on a platoon level due to the fire hazard and the training required for the weapon.
• MK73 Grenade: A simple fragmentation grenade, 22 meter wound radius, 7 meter kill radius. Impact triggered fuse, push the button, throw, count to three. Hope you've played baseball.
• Raytheon Anti-Vehicle Platform The dedicated AA and AT platfom of the UTAF, firing a 155 mm rocket, the platform is multi use and capable of locking on to heat signatures both on the ground and in the air. Backblast cone is fatal within two meters and will give internal damage out to 15 meters, make sure to call out for backblast. Deployed on a squad level.
• Silverguard Standard Infantry Armor: The standard infantry uniform of the UTAF. The exterior coating is a photo-reactive layer capable of changing camouflage on the fly, and it's main metallic component is a titanium and tungsten alloy allowing the user to tank multiple small arms rounds before structural failure. Below that is a electroactive polymer tied to the suits synthetic musculature, allowing the user to move freely despite the weight carried as well as to give a boost to the users physical capablities. The helmet contains both an IR and UV imager, as well as four forward facing cameras providing user visibility despite the solid faceplate. The only drawback is that clothing cannot be worn underneath the suit, so the electroactive layer can detect nerve impulses indicative of movement.
