Hey there guys. I know I haven't been super active in the Pub revently, mostly because my time's been dedicated to in-region RPs and my rocky educational and personal life. And I also know that I promised myself after the failure of my last RP that I'd stop trying these.

But I suppose this is an exception, since I have been working on it for about a year. Regardless, it's still pretty WIP and a lot still has to be figured out, but I figured that I'd announce it on here and accompany it with Paradox-esque Developmental Diaries either in this thread (if OP allows) or on its own, separate thread. Either way, I just thought I'd give anyone who may be interested a heads-up.

What the project is bears the working title Ozymandias: The Great Campaign and is a demi-strategy RP set literally at the dawn of time. The intention of the RP is for player characters to create (or inherit) civilizations or tribes in the Fertile Crescent/Ancient Near East in the year 3000 BCE and develop those civilizations as they're shaped by their own, other PC's, and outside history.

I don't want to get too into the mechanics now, partially because I'll be describing a lot of them later and partially because they're definitely subject to change. Civilizations will rise and fall, but their legacies will last forever.

Anyways, thought I'd put that on the table. You'll all hear from me soon about the whole ordeal.

Showed some promise, but like many things, it was hard to maintain player commitment. I'd think something starting in 3000 BCE would take quite at least a few quite dedicated members to stand a chance at lasting. Personally I'm a little slow when it comes to rps with dedicated mechanics. I wish you luck all the same.

The Longest Winter

Most Russian winters are harsh. This one more so. That's because a civil war has raged across the former empire for three long years. The flames of conflict and revolution have been sparked there and spread like a wildfire around the world. Communist uprisings in Europe have shaken Bavaria and the wider Weimar Republic of Germany, Hungary, where a soviet style republic has been formed, and Italy, whose intense reaction by the Blackshirts will climax in Mussolini's March on Rome. Even in places without major instability, economic liberalism has largely collapsed across the continent. The United States panics and scrambles about as the nation experiences its very first red scare. Greece has brought itself into the most recent installment of a series of revanchist wars, this time against the Turks. Fighting has reached homeland British soil in the form of a country embroiled in the Irish fight for independence. For their Empire, the Egyptians rising up against them will likely cost them imperial rule of the nation. Not to mention the beginnings of Maltese challenge to their control of the small island. The Mexican Revolution is in the process of winding down, though in a few years the fighting shall be replaced with that against the Cristeros. In summary, at this point the world is simply trying to weather the storm of revolution and reaction.

Europe is still in the grips of chaos in the aftermath of the Great War. In Russia, patriotic calls of "God Save the Tsar" have been replaced with revolutionary chants of "All power to the Soviets", and finally struggled gasps intermediated by "every man for himself". The stage is set. A series of historically inaccurate incidents has resulted in an intriguing situational scenario. Yes, this does have elements of alternate history, for the purpose of conveniently and coincidentally putting everything on the table at once so to speak. But, if out of all the options not a single one strikes your fancy, you still have an opportunity to formulate one of your own. (NOTICE: I'd appreciate it if these had at least some element of historical realism from the period, i.e. an actual event, person, or group you can attribute it to.)

So that's about it. I've been debating whether having predetermined factions that people can pick up is a sound idea. I'm thinking at the least if they just wanted to assume one I'd need to see a qualifying rp example. Also, I did make a map that I was working off of as far as participants, though I wouldn't quite call it finished either. As you can see I have many more templates to fill out. I kind of mixed together various elements from various times during the real civil war, not sure how that will end up working out exactly.

1916: The first confirmed Meta-Human, a Canadian Soldier by the name of Johnathan Lightfoot, is discovered on the battlefields of WW1. Shortly after, more like him are discovered on both sides of the conflict. Their existence is kept hidden by both sides and are used to turn the tides of battle.

1925: A division of the FBI, Olympus, is created to combat Meta-Human mobsters and other criminals during the Roaring 20's. Their existence still kept a secret.

1937: The existence of Meta-Humans is revealed to the public by 17 year old Zhao Ming-Hua in China during the Battle of Shanghai. Word quickly spreads across China and abroad. The KMT try to recruit Zhao but he instead heads north to the Communists.

1939: With the Outbreak of WW2, many countries begin recruiting their own Meta-Humans for the war effort, Daniel Freeman from the USA, Marie Durand of the Free French, Dimitri "Red Bear" Zaenov of the Soviet Union, and Heinrich Müller from Nazi Germany. The first Artificial Super Soldiers are created in limited number through America's Project: Kodiak and Nazi Germany's Uber Mensch Program. Any become symbols for their respective countries propaganda.

Sounds interesting, personally I think cutting the time line to when mr Japanese guy discovered that instatute would be even more interesting than in the future. Having our heros working to protect people who hate them realisticly, the backdrop of the dying Cold War and Reaganist society all seem like pretty interesting themes and settings for our heros to work within, in opposition, and in favor of.

The US is developing an armor fascimile of Ironman suits, as they have been for a few years, while Japan has the Framework for Power armor pretty much done. not that far of a reach to think an ironman or power armor suit would be available in 11 years.
