Game of Thrones: King's Landing
You can't trust anybody in King's Landing. They're all liars, good liars, bad liars, even a few great liars. - Tyrion Lannister
Kings Landing. The largest city in Westeros, overlooking both the slums of Flea Bottom and the murky depths of Blackwater Bay. It is the largest city in the Seven Kingdoms, home of the Red Keep and the King of the Andals and the First Men. Built by Emperor Aegon I 'The Conqueror' Targaryen after he conquered the Seven Kingdoms on the back of dragons. Even now his descendants rule from the Iron Throne, a throne forged from 200 swords surrendered to Aegon after he united Westeros, an Empire that stretches from the freezing Wall in the far North to sweltering Dorne in the south. While many of the great families that rule the Seven Kingdoms all claim to hold the center of power in their home keep, everybody knows where the true power lies. In Kings Landing the people know that the Emperor of Westeros Aerys II Targaryen reigns over the Seven Kingdoms with an increasingly deteriorating mental state. That mental state now leaves Westeros vulnerable to disposition and chaos.
As Aerys continues to descend into madness it leaves many ways for advancing yourself and your House. While the Great Houses impatiently vey for the Iron Throne, you however know not to. You come from a relatively minor house, probably, and are here not because of some duty bound force commands you to for the good of the Seven Kingdoms; but because you have a duty to your house and your name. You are here to make your house a great one, to debase the status quo and to finally win this game of thrones.

Personality: Of all the Kings to sit on the Iron Throne, none induced a level of tyranny, madness and especially cruelty as Aerys Targaryen did during his rule. Dubbed the Mad King, Aerys seemingly began as a benevolent ruler until he was overwhelmed by the so-called "Targaryen madness" brought on by an incestuous bloodline. As a result, he began displaying traits of intense psychopathy, insanity and sadistic intentions, exacerbated by hallucinations, schizophrenia and paranoia regarding his own claim to the Throne, to the point where he burnt anyone he believed was against him, until half of the people whom he ruled were already against him.
Like many Targaryens, such as his son Viserys, Aerys was obsessed with the self-conception that he was a dragon in human skin. In regards to this, he killed his victims in a similar manner that which a dragon would; burning them alive. Jaime Lannister once observed that he loved watching them char until their skin blackened, indicating he may have suffered from pyromanica and this combined with sadism and hopeless delusions, spurred his already oppressive reign into complete tyranny. In a final bid where it appeared Robert Baratheon would take King's Landing, Aerys planted wildfire throughout the city, even the Red Keep where Aerys himself was staying. Not for one second, however, did he believe that it would result in his death, like his uncle Prince Aerion Targaryen, who killed himself by drinking wildfire. Instead, he thought he would be reborn as a dragon through a baptism by fire and burn his enemies in retribution.
Bio: A man who looks older than he is with the face of a man decades older than himself. Taking the throne at the young age of 18 he was immediately beset on all sides by wolves in sheeps clothing. He had few friends in the court, instead ruling through keeping the other houses at odds. Meanwhile he is viewed by the people to be mostly benevolent, breaking a long chain of increasingly tyrannical Targaryen rulers. Little did they know that Aerys is a ticking time bomb set to go off at any moment, and possibly take the entirety of the Seven Kingdoms with him.
It is said that with the birth of a Targaryen the gods flip a coin. They do not say that for nothing. The Targaryen bloodline is full of brother-sister marriages that has forever polluted the bloodline with a variety of ills. This has become increasingly apparent with Aerys as he grows older. His behavior has become increasingly erratic. He has begun to strike out violently against threats both real and imagined, further alienating himself from his powerbase in the Great Houses. While he still has a shred of sanity about him, it is becoming increasingly clear that his days are numbered. The only real question is who will take over when he dies.
