Kanok Throne Room
A man came before the throne with a curious proposal today. He wished for us of all people to stop equalsun empire from expanding eastward by colonizing, at first the idea was dismissed as ridiculous but recently has gained merit. So we are sending out ships now to colonize the area south of finland for a foothold and are pouring nearly all our resources into the project as to get it done quickly

Marius of the Stahlpakt Alpine

Generalfeldmarschall Marius was standing on the bridge of the Imperator. He had to duck, due to the low ceiling but still felt like the tallest Ogre of his time. Looking around at the engineers, that surrounded him, a bunch of mostly humans and Lycans, an over-proportional number of Dwarves and a few Orcs and Goblins, he reckoned, that he was the second ever Ogre to fly this high (The first being General Lichtenstein, Military supervisor of the Hunter-program, 8 years earlier, before the Ogre configuration for the Ultra-light Airships was scrapped in favor of some armor and/or greater payload).

Marius walked around the protective screen made from steel and glass and went to the large window to the front, that allowed an almost 180° x 120°(left to right x up to down) view. There was a large telescope on a Tripot. The general went on his knees and looked through, checking out the Horizon. "This view was worth the trip," he said and as he turned around, he could see, that the engineers were glad, he liked it. Marius went back again and stuck his head through the door to the engine room. There was really not enough space in there for an Ogre to enter, a massive steam engine dominated the room but below, above and everywhere around it tubes, valves, gears and various controls filled the room up. Some belonged to the engine, powering the propellors outside, while others connected the steering wheel on the bridge to the flaps, to allow maneuvering. Between all this he saw the Head technician, who also spotted the General and gave Marius a thumps up, indicating that the machine worked fine.

With his Staff of engineers, he went down to the lower deck and inspected the guns. This deck, too, was rather full, with boxes of ammunition at the center, two broadsides of guns to the left and right, and two bigger calliber guns right at the front. Right now, Marius could walk between the guns and crates but he wondered: "What if the full crew of cannoneers is in here? How will they move about in such a tight place?" An Orc answered him: We will mostly be deploying Humans and Dwarfs for this space, they seam to be fond of narrow rooms like this and can concentrate very well in such a situation." Marius nodded. Out of the small races, he regarded the Orcs as the most normal people, they were basically like Ogres, just smaller and angrier. Goblins were the weirdest of all, a race with no coherent psychology, some were cowards, some were maniacal daredevils, some morons and some geniuses, some evil bastards, some good fellows and rarely ever anything between the extremes. And then there were Humans, the soft-skined, physically weak and very cold-susceptible race was the lest notable in the Alpine lands but still, their race had spread allover the world and adapted to all kinds of social and environmental situations. They just endured. This was their strength and it worried Marius, that a race so focused on enduring suffering was growing to be the dominant race of the world.

After a demonstration of flight and shooting, they landed near Bern again. Unsurprisingly, Marius was sold on the subject but this did not really matter. Their factories were already building more Imperator class airships. He could order even more of them but this would all be void, unless they could somehow increase their Helium production. It was quite a rare gas, and while there were some natural springs in the Alpine lands, all known sources were already drawn from and it still was a severely limiting factor in their Helium production. Back at his Headquarter, he consulted his foreign advisors, which nations have a Helium production surplus and would likely be interested in trading.

On the Crimean Coast

Strange bubbles had always rose to the top of the Crimean waters, especially off a particular place on the coast, the Court Inventors, Papazian, and Mapazian were asked to examine the gas escaping the waters, and upon experimentation determined it was natural gas, if the Court Inventors could discover a way to produce an effective pipeline it would be a massive boon to manufacturing, and make Cronova a power in the energy industry. Papazian, and Mapazian had previously drafted plans for an offshore oil rig which was relatively successful when implemented in the Caspian. The Parliament, with supermajority or consent of the monarch, can pass financial laws, all criminal, and moral laws must go through the Ecclesiarchal Chamber. Funding was quickly delegated after an impassioned speech by Papazian, who has a reputation for being loud, and outright rude at times, due to his straightforward, no fluff added nature. 1,000,000 Draubles were set aside for their project, however this will take time.

Military movements, and diplomacy

The Cronovan army has begun build up of fortifications on the border with the Osphenian Republic due to concerns about war, this build up however can be stopped with diplomatic talks, but for now Cronova has no idea where their neighbor stands, until they are given free movement through the Bosporus the build-up is unlikely to stop. In addition to this the Cronovan ambassador to United Bulgaria requests military access, and also wishes to inquire on a defensive pact.

Having had enough of the heretic equalsuns magic and heresey the pope, whose name is Aaron called a crusade against their empire. Having heard this Thifel immediately moved troops to the border and began to move in on Denmark while the navy began to establish naval superiority in the english channel and blockade the baltic sea.

Cronova has started to develop a battleplan, it request military access of all nations trespassed by our military's movement [except maybe Equalsun you know?]

Image

Cronova also offers a sizable expeditionary force for Navis Fluctus to command

In addition the reserves are begin called up, they are in proportion to the current military composition.

The war is being met with much fanaticism in Cronova, and it seems like if necessary, there won't be any need to call for conscripts, because there are massive amounts of volunteers, which are beginning to undergo training.

War Room, Kanok Bunker

Thifel Kazarin had seen the obvious problem with the english channel and its defensive navy. He thought about it and decided that the best way to deal with their navy was to fight it head on. For the mission he sent 600 ships in total, the ships consisted of 350 battleships and 250 submarines. He had deduced that most likely they would not need to eradicate their gaurd but instead punch a hole through which the troop transports would go through. He also noted the high morale of their soldiers and figured the best way to lower said morale was to have airships bomb the english capitol, so he has sent 100 airships to bomb it.

4 hours later
Due to the proximity of their naval bases to the channel they were able to get to their gaurd quickly. The attack was a surprise to the enemy forces due to their assumption their focus would be on Denmark, but the element of surprise cannot win a battle and are locked in a fierce battle that will cost either side dearly no matter what.

Denmark front
Seeing as there has been very little progress on the denmark front Thifel authorized to have ten of their precious few landships used to strengthen the battles in their favor and hopefully take Denmark in a month. The drills used for military purpouses have so far been working splendidly by drilling behind enemy lines and causing their troops to be surrounded and easier to pick off.

The expiditionary force is appreciated but not needed. If you would like you could go with my naval invasion of the british isles which has landed in Canterburry and is headed towards their english capitol.

How abouts, a double pronged assault, I will conquer Ireland, then we can converge on the Wales, and move on Scotland.

Also Cronova has begun producing "Transport Ships", in addition to more cruisers, this will also take time.

Your Majesty,

You claim to be concerned about war, but exactly what actions have you seen from us that would suggest we would be preparing for war? In all honesty, it should be us, the Osphenians who should be concerned about war. Might I remind you that the Osphenian people have historically been a peaceful bunch, and only engage in war when absolutely necessary, and let me tell you: There is nothing you have that would necessitate war between our nations.

As for the passage of your ships through the Bosphorus straits: It's really counter-intuitive for me to allow Cronovan military vessels to pass through my straits to fight a nation that we're rather fond of, while Cronova is preparing for war against Osphen.

So in short: No, Cronovan ships will not be allowed through Osphenian waters until Cronova ceases their aggressive policy.

The red glow of the dying sun lit the cityscape of Compassia below as the Imperial Navy Vessel Terminus floated gracefully above the city, steam streaming from its smokestacks and light glinting from the warm metal of its armour. The Sky Dreadnought-class ship sat in the middle of the other assorted ships of the Eastern Battlefleet, the 49-airship strong group currently gathered for refueling and maintenance while the Baltic Task Force guarded the waves about the island. As the last of the light faded a lone figure that had been standing upon the small observation deck upon the nose of the Terminus turned and vanished back into the vessel, away from the chill of the Scandinavian wind ripping at his cloak. Admiral Trestia pressed in the activation circle of the CEAP spell upon the door as he crossed back into his command, hearing the hiss of the door close and the air begin to return to Airship Standard pressure until suddenly halting. The airlock door before him clicked, the red light turning green before the doorway hissed open. Shrugging off the heavy Altitude Cloak he had donned before his short sungazing escapade, the elf straightened his white and gold uniform before strolling into the corridors of the ship.

The vessel beneath him hummed with energy, the powerful magic and technology contained within seeming to amplify the sound of his combat boots upon the metal floors. These thoughts were shaken upon reaching his destination, however, and after straightening his uniform one last time the Admiral walked into the bridge of the airship, nodding to his first officer. "Greetings, Captain Tirialis," Trestia said, striding over to the seat of command and sliding into the comfortable chair. "What news from Compassia? I thought I detected signal lights flashing up to us."

Captain Justia Tirialis turned to Trestia, a smile gracing his features. "Fire orders, sir. The Eastern Battlefleet is being ordered to the Datlofian border to provide support for the Second Army. Apparently the Datlofians have seen fit to call yet another Crusade upon the Holy Imperium."

Admiral Trestia rolled his eyes, waving to the communication station. "Signal the fleet to move out, Ensign. Best speed for the Datlofian Front."

"Aye, sir!" The young Elf cried, turning to his console and drawing forth a pen, inkwell, and paper. Scribbling upon the sheet in shorthand, he finished off with the stamp of the Admiral and a TED spell. As soon as the Activation Nexus was completed the paper vanished, the original appearing on the bridge of the Sky Battleship Eclipsa floating alongside. As the order was received and implemented by the various captains of the airships the massive vessels began to peel off, the cranes and pulleys ferrying supplies withdrawn as steam coated the sky. Next stop, the Danish front.

Danish Front, Day 1 of the Datlofian Crusade

"Are they... Really?" Marshal Eldenor of the Second Army asked incredulously, looking down at the maps before him. The murmurs of a Datlofian mobilization and recruitment drive had certainly reached him, but the balloons floating above the border defenses could confirm that, indeed, there was a Datlofian force bearing down upon his position. Making up his mind between a potential diplomatic incident if he were wrong and an enemy attack if he were right, he gave the order for the Second Army to make ready for battle. Glancing down at the map, Eldenor decided against striking into the Datlofian lands, instead opting to establish a defensive line until a flier came in from Modesia or Compassia with orders. As he watched the troops nearby take out shovels and start digging in, while others formed up and began marching one way or another to cover the remainder of the border. Elsewhere, in the various forts along the Front Eldenor knew his army was doing the same. They would be ready.

Far off, in the Elbe, a gleaming battleship of the Channel Fleet bobbed in the waters. It was a comfort to have the pride of Eldenia floating gracefully within gun range, but he knew that the Blue Navy would make no difference in the coming engagements. Some things simply had to be decided in the mud of the battlefield and the open sky.

Channel Fleet

Elsewhere, another battleship bobbed upon the waves. And another. And another, and another. The great Channel Fleet of Eldenia cruised across the waves, broadsides pointed towards the Datlofian coastline and the Channel Battlefleet floated overhead. There had been activity upon the coastline, with reports of mobilization and preparations for a massive naval invasion reaching the ears of the Eldenian High Command. And of course, as it usually was, it fell to the Imperial Fleet to defend the Imperium homeland from their enemies.

While some things needed solved in the dirt and mud of the battlefield, but true valour and superiority showed upon the waves.

He had incoming reports of submarines to which he said, "Since when do the Eldrenians have submarines? I thought they focoused on above water and none of our spies had informed us of this!" He began to see his fleet was in position and gave the order to fire on the enemy defense force.

An Official Statement to the States of Navis Fluctus and Cronova

Image

In view of the recent grievances concerning the nations of the Navis Fluctus and Cronova concerning the war between the crusade and the Holy Eldenian Empire as well as a mounting military threat against Osphen.

Let it be clear that the Osphenian Republic views this purported “crusade” based on religious, magical, and racial lines is completely unjust and baseless and will refuse to support any such action against the Holy Eldenian Empire.

Let it be clear that the Osphenian Republic does not intend to participate in the war.

To the Nation of Cronova: The build up of fortifications in an attempt to threaten the Osphenian Republic into opening the Bosphorus and Dardanelles is an act of unprovoked aggression, and this build up of defences only suggests to the Republic that Cronova is preparing for war.

The Osphenian Republic hereby refuses to open the Dardanelles and Bosphorus to any and all Cronovan naval vessels. A force of 100,000 regulars, 10,000 Mountaineers will be sent to the Caucasus border to defend Osphen against possible invasion. The Osphenian navy will patrol Osphenian waters in the black sea (the Bosphorus in particular) with a flotilla of 5 cruisers and 10 torpedo boats. If Cronova ceases their aggressive actions against Osphen, only then will Osphen allow Cronovan vessels through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles and the force of 110,000 be withdrawn.

Let it be clear that Osphen seeks peaceful solutions, and this kind of action is rarely undertaken by the Osphen. However, this kind of aggressive foreign policy on behalf of Cronova is simply unacceptable and will be met with an appropriate response.

From the small town, Farru could take a carriage express to the nearby city of Bern, the nation's gateway to the north. Along the way, he had a little chat with the coachman. His accent was not as bad, as the people of the north imagined the Alpine accent.
"I definitely don't recommend carriage ride through the Jura Mountains, milord. It's long and the roads are bad quality, it's not a good ride. The quickest way - on average - would be if you chartered a balloon. The ballon sailors know how to fly between the different mountains to usually catch a wind into the right direction. But as I that, only usually. With bad luck, you get a bad wind and end up pinned to the ground for a day or two half way along the way. Only much slower on average and way, WAY more reliable would be the railroad. This is the most used route in the whole nation, so there is two trains going each direction, every single day. I fear, we won't be making it to the afternoon train in time but if you take the train right tomorrow in the morning, you should be there quite about the same time we have now.

As for finding a bed, I know a friend from my time in the army, who runs a hostel near the railway station, if you tell him, I drove you there, he'll give you his suite for the price of a common room." The coachmen continued to introduce the region to the foreigner, acknowledging the difference in social status between the two only through the occasional "milord".

Farru spend a good night in Basel and did in fact arrive in the capital of Bern in the early afternoon of the next day. Identifying himself to a Railway Guard soldier, he was given a personal escort to the Headquarter and was appointed to see the Generalfeldmarshall after only about a quarter of an hour.

Sender: Foreign Minister, Seth Eriah
Location of Sender: Baku, Cronova
Subject: In response to your stance of the Bosporus access, and our border build-up
Encryption: PUBLIC
Urgency: Urgent

Mr. President,

We do not wish to necessitate war, we will demobilize if a non-aggression treaty between our nation is promised without that we cannot guarantee peace, in addition we will respect your decision on the Bosporus, we would do the same in your position, and seeing your commitment to peace, conditionally if you agree to a non-aggression pact, we will be willing to halt our assault on the Equalsun Empire, being a increasingly secular nation, and a Crowned Republic in our own right, war is not a popular subject.

However, we will not be able to stop Catholic zealots from leaving our nation to join against your ally, it is their right to free movement, and they are free to exercise it.

Without securing peace through diplomacy, we may have to secure it through the sword, we don't want this to happen, and neither do you, it would be disastrous for all nations involved.

With all due respect from the Cronovan people,

Seth Eriah

Minister,

I still fail to understand what threat Cronova perceives from Osphen. For your own sake, begin demobilising and this affair will be over, and the Bosphorus will be open to civilian vessels. To clarify, we are not a “Crowned Republic”. As for your zealots, that’s unfortunate. But hopefully, they won’t travel through Osphen.

Thank you,

Marius of the Stahlpakt Alpine

The Generalfeldmarschall welcomed Farru Kazarin: "A high ranking diplomat from Navis Fluctus, a Prince indeed. Is "Your Highness" the proper form of address?" Marius von Kruppstein (who is properly addressed as "General") offered Farru a seat while complimenting him on what he had heared about the native Dwarven digging technology in Navis Fluctus. He himself sat down on the floor next to the chair, while pointing out, that the Stahlpakt itself had some great digging technology, although with an entirely different specialization, as they primarily used it to dig horizontally through mountains, and downward only rarely.
The seating arrangement, while it could look submissive at first, was actually just a common custom among the Ogres of the Alpine lands, when sitting together with smaller people. It was not meant to convey any subtext about status and relation.

Marius finally got to the point: "So, what is your business here, your Highness? Have you heard of our shortage on Helium, or do you wish to discuss the terrible infrastructural situation in Swabia*, that splits our continent?"

*: The Land north of Basel and south of the southeastern parts of Navis Fluctus.

I suppose your highness is the correct term as I am the heir to the throne of my father. I was sent here to speak about possible alliances and the infastructure in the region of Swabia. I was not sent here to discuss the Helium but I can negotiate on our behalf on the subject. On the subject of the infastructure my father thought that we need to build a railroad system much better than our current one between our nations. We could dig the tunnels and supply the trains for the route, all you need to do is lay the tracks. This would allow quicker transport of goods between our great nations and benefit us both in the long run. As for helium, we do have excess but not a large amount. We do not search for gasses often and are a land based race, we do not belong on the suface much less above it. We would be willing to trade our helium for mining rights in your land. We wish to dig deeper and your land seems ideal for digging and finding what is deeper below the earth.

Fellow minister,

I never wished to refer to you as a Crowned Republic, merely us, now we will demobilize, if you can promise peace in our time, and the affair will be over, 'for your own sake', I wouldn't expect this tone from a fellow diplomat, what we fear is the growing tension in this world with the call for a crusade imminent, and knowing your relations with the Equalsun Empire we felt threatened. Also, they will travel not through your nation of Osphen, but rather the nations to the north and west to Navis Fluctus. Our parliment is split on the issue, the assembly against, and the bloody church for it, and our king silent, but I will exercise my entrusted authority to order the demobilization on the border, and to ensure your easiness, we will create a buffer zone of 10 miles.

We will seek reform in our government, it is obsolete clearly.

Thank you for understanding our dysfunctional republic, with truest wishes of prosperity, and peace

on be hath of the Cronovan people, Seth Eriah

English Channel
The admiral saw a small waver in the enemy fleet as the first shots were fired, seeing this as a oppurtunity he ordered ships to widen the small gap by firing at the area which seems to have lower morale then the rest in hopes of causing disorder among the opposing armies. Meanwhile he ordered the subs to go in front of the ships and fire, seeing as the broadside is the most powerful weaponry on their ships he figured it would be best if they had 2 targets due to you not being able to broadside from the front and be forced to choose which is the most powerful enemy.

Marius of the Stahlpakt Alpine meeting with Farru Kazarin

"Splendid," Marius replied. "Our nations, as different as they may be complement each other well. However, I have, as the head of our nationalized Railway program often before addressed the local counts north of our border. They regard everything within their borders as their own property and have no respect for foreign companies. Now, I tried to pay them, offered generous tariffs and asked nothing in return but that we a re allowed to install our tracks in the area and have them legally regarded as equal to the property of native gentry but they are not willing to admit to that. I tried more ... hostile approaches - anything short of a war but they are still mostly subsistence farmers and rely on imports for only a little amount of their needs. However, with you here: If we both would threaten them with an Embargo - and maybe even get Nibelheim into the boat - we should have the leverage."

Marius lifted himself up and went to the southern window, checking the large clock atop the Prison tower (as he could not see the clock on the tower of his own building from this room. "As for the business of trade, that is something, in which I am not very invested but I have three industrial leaders invited anyway. But first, dinner. I'm having Omelette with onions and bacon today and the kitchen should easily be able to serve a second portion."

After dinner, Marius introduced three guests, the first was a Human, the other two were Ogres.

"Your majesty, the deal we seek is the right to drill on your land, while you can mine in ours. There are three possible companies, I have chosen, that could install and run the gas drills and refineries on your land. It'S up to you, with whom you prefer to make the deal. Besides their own land, these men can negotiate public lands, that they can buy from me, in order to sell it on to you. Military security areas excluded. First, we have Mr Friedrich Hubermann, owner of Hubermann rockets and technology." The Human bowed and explained: "As an Österlich company, we respect communal industry and would primarily hire our workforce from your subjects."
"Mr Kunz Köpernick, head of Juran Avionics," Marius continued to introduce. The first Ogre bowed and added: "We are the leading expert on refining and compression technologies in the Stahlpakt and given a long cooperation, our installations would likely spread some of this practical knowledge to your people, too."
"And finally General Julius Drachenfels. Director of Grison's Chem and Steel." The last Ogre did not bow but saluted in military fashion. "I know what you really want, your majesty. As my company is 50% state owned, we are the most reliable to work with. And on top of that, I will offer 1/10th extra on the best -serious- offer either of these two makes."
The two civilians looked at the Generalfeldmarshall skeptical, who added: "The prices for public property are fix and he has no better options then either of you. If he has deeper pockets, it's your problem."

Marius took out a map. Of course, none of the men was willing to set fix contracts into stone before being able to send prospectors to the gas fields of Navis Fluctus but all were eager to set up some framework for the cooperation and have their competitors removed from the negotiations.

I suppose if it would foster better relations between our two empires you being able to drill in our lands in exhcange for mineral rights would be acceptable. For who gains the rights I choose Krunz Kopernik seeing as the other could damage our steel industry. As for the nobles I assure you they would not find a thing to hint at our rail building. We would drill deep under their territory, deeper than your empire cares to dig. There is no need for them to see the mining and or tunnel drilling operation under their land.If that fails we could quite easily compensate them heavily with valuable minerals and gold.

CRONOVAN PARLIAMENTARY TRADE PROPOSAL TO THE OSPHENIAN REPUBLIC

FREE and OPEN trade between our nations with zero tariffs.

FREE and OPEN ports, between our nations, Cronova will honor this by opening all ports in the Black Sea to Osphenian vessels.

FREE and OPEN borders, between both our nations, it will help encourage trade via land, and boost our economies mutually.

A MILITARY NON-AGGRESSION PACT for as long as our trade last, peace is important to guarantee trust.

A MUTUAL AGREEMENT either party may withdrawal consent at any time.

IN ADDITION, A joint declaration of friendship would help to ease relationships, this is with the consent of the Ospehenian Republic, and not necessary to the trade deal.

We will accept these terms only if the tariffs are instead lowered to 4.8% of the cargo's worth, rather than zero.
