You can use a Vecanta. In their culture the dead are more honored than the living (30 year lifespans so see).

Well, actually, it's less of a corpse and more of an Infiltrator having eaten the corpse's skeleton and organs and then inserting itself into the leftover skin and such; healing it as necessary and preserving it, mimicking their eyes as well.

Essentially, the Infiltrator keeps the skin from smelling and is stuck inside that skin until it dies or is required to shed that skin.

Edit: Just keep in mind that their masks are meant to show mortality. So their masks look like their own skulls or the skulls of other species or creatures. The really hardcore Vecanta wear actual skulls.

However, when it is a 'volunteer' being meatpuppeted; they can speak more clearly and such because the Matriarch/Hive Queens simply tell them what to say and semi-control them.

This is because the Xathoi rely entirely on psionics for communication with each other. Not to mention that only the Hive Queens and Matriarch are really sentient/sapient and independent of each other, making physical communication an alien concept to them for the most part. I dunno, an Infiltrator works, too; but they probably end up communicating via psionic telepathy.

You could do what the Tengeri do and have the Queens project what they're going to say to everyone in the room telepathically.

Probably what I'm going to have to do via the Infiltrator in a Vecanta meatsuit being an 'ambassador.'

Either that, or introduce a new 'ambassador' form for the purposes of communication. Might just do that, but meatpuppets are more fun.

Only anywhere between 300-500 of them at any given time are actually sentient/sapient (Hive Queens), plus the Matriarch / Empress. And they communicate purely by telepathic means because physical communication is alien to them.
